The best start to the season for Igor Volkov. - TheHockeyist - 07-27-2020

After a struggling performance, Igor Volkov of the Wolfpack started off S55 with low expectations for the team. He had gotten used to the new environment - oh, I'm sorry, NEW™ environment - and his NEW™ team from his time at the end of S54. The team ended up with a disappointing miss for the playoffs, which really bothered most of the Wolfpack, but didn't seem to bother Igor too much. He was used to his team missing the playoffs, so nothing changed for him in that regard. The team then underwent some restructuring for S55, with new NEW™ players called up and old ones traded.

Igor fully expected that S55 would be just like S54 - a disaster for him, but less of a disaster than it was. He got Dominic Montgomery @bilbo to tighten his skates before hitting the ice for two games, one immediately after the other. Igor fully expected a disaster.

However, this wasn't to be. The Wolfpack dominated both games, 5-1, then 3-2 in a loss for Chicago. After being sick of losing game after game, Igor was thrilled with his first win in what seemed like great luck for the start of the season.

The team wasn't too surprised with their winning performance, accepting it gracefully. Not Igor. Igor howled loud and proud immediately after.

"AAAAAAAAWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"

He was very proud of his team, perhaps the best he had felt in years. It seemed like his character had completely changed, as if he had completely forgotten what it was like to feel joy. Igor's face lost all sense of seriousness and despair. It was as if some sort of childhood innocence long forgotten had resurfaced, overwhelming him in absolute pleasure and satisfaction. He looked and felt as if he was in some sort of impossible utopia, which was not entirely in-character for him.

"LET'S HOWL!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Not too long after, Igor downed an entire bottle of Casamigos in one go, resulting in him getting blackout drunk for the first time in years.

Igor felt it in his bones, veins, muscles, and every atom of his being.

This would certainly be a great season for him.
