(GRADED)Deep Dive #1: Anchorage rookie analysis
#1
(This post was last modified: 04-16-2021, 11:38 AM by CptSquall.)

In this Deep Dive we'll be looking at the Anchorage Armada S60 rookie class draftees and how they fare up. Are we to expect a rookie of the year from Armada? We'll see.

Lets layout who Armada chose to draft in this years draft. This year Anchorage didn't have a 1st round pick, but instead had a middle 2nd round pick(20th) which they used to draft Center - Mikhail Novikov, a recreate by the veteran user crutch. In the 3rd round Armada had back-to-back picks, that they used to draft two right wingers in Latrell Macdonald(32nd) and Benjamin Jansson(33rd), created by ryan cvit and t3zla. Both of which seem to be very active in training, most likely looking for greater chances to help the team to more victories in the future. Their next two picks were in round 5 and 6, which were Toejam Picker(56th) and Dustin Alexander(68th), two goalies, neither seem to be actually active anymore.

Anchorage did not panic in their situation that seemed hopeless, as suddenly out of nowhere the whole team received passports to Flavortown! The Anchorage Armada made a successful undrafted rookie signing in Guy "Welcome to Flavortown" Fieri, another rookie goalie, but this time looking to rescue the team from the grasps of inactive goalies!

Mikhail Novikov - Center - 20th OA

From Moscow, standing at 6ft tall and weighing a heavy 200lbs, Mikhail looks to help the team at the center position by carrying the puck over the blueline and breaking out. He's a very speedy center, with a bit of an lack in the defensive zone, but so far with his training he's been looking to round out his performance overall, rather than focus on just a couple things in the offense, thus improving his lackluster defense.

Comparing him to the top 5 of drafted centers(him being 4th center drafted). At 1st OA Stan Din'desque (ANA), 5th OA Uhtred Ragnarsson (VAN), 10th OA Satoru Gojo (KEL), 35th OA Darrell Niskala (QCC).
He ranks as the second shortest(6ft 0in), the title of tallest being shared between Uhtred and Satoru, both being 6ft 3in tall. He ranks second lightest(202 lbs), heaviest being Niskala at 250lbs. And he has the lowest TPE out of the top 5 centers, at 195 TPE. Overall he seems to be the weakest of the bunch, but that remains to be seen as the season kicks off.

Latrell Macdonald - Right wing - 32nd OA
Height: 6ft 2in - Weight: 220 lbs
Keeping up with the theme, Latrell is a fast forward with a great offensive toolset and stamina(12), focusing on puckhandling(11), passing(12) and shooting accuracy(12). All while not forgetting to help in the Dzone with his defensive read(10) and positioning(10). Look for him to be a threat on the ice right off the bat.

Benjamin Jansson - Right wing - 33nd OA
Height: 6ft 4in - Weight: 230 lbs
A VERY physical, strong forward. Tall as a mountain and tough as rock. He looks to be your stay-at-home forward, with great defensive attributes. His stamina(11) and strength(12) being his strongest qualities, followed by checking(11) and hitting(11), after which come shot blocking(10) and faceoffs(10). Expect him to be a solid penalty killer for the Boats, once he gets some games under him and gets comfortable with his teammates.

Guy Fieri - Goalie - Undrafted(created after draft)

The Lumbering mass of Flavortown. Height: 6ft 11in, Weight: 300 lbs. Shutout a team *cough* Anaheim *cough* in a preseason game.
