(GRADED)Deep Dive #1 - Armada rookies
#1
(This post was last modified: 02-22-2021, 01:44 PM by CptSquall.)

After few games of the new season lets check out how are Anchorage Armada rookies are doing so far.

Pick 12. Jay Sink, #17, RD - Jay has showed alot of potential. Jay has been paired with this seasons team captain Beanman. Being in second defence pair has allowed him be on ice more than 18 minutes per game. With 7 points (4+3) in 19 games Jay is up there with Armada best players. His +/- is great for defencemen. In 19 games he got +10. Sink doesnt afraid to shoot. He has done already 51 shots in 19 games. Although these numbers show that Sink is good at offence, he has shown his power in defence too, 22 hits and 18 blocked shots. He isnt afraid of physical game. His game speaks for itself. Great defencemen with good field look.

Pick 18. Alimony Tony, #28, RW - Tony is playing in third line with one of the teams best attackers David Pumpkins and rookie Utyosov Toyesfki. Tony plays major role in third lienup. He has 18 blocked shots in 19 games. It has helped in defence alot. He is great playmaker, already has 6 assists to his name. 1 goal from 17 shoots isnt ideal but his main target is to attack and shoot, Pumpkins will get to those bounced pucks.

Pick 23. Utyosov Toyesfki, #7, LW - Young russian Utyosov is playing in third linup with Pumpkins and Tony. Well Utyosov like Tony plays big role in third lines game. Actually young russian has done more shots on goals then Tony and Pumpkins, his purposefulness. utyosov has scored 3 goals from 24 shots. And Utyosov as Tony isnt scared of laying in front of shots, blocked 13 shots in 19 games.

Pick 43. Ville Kurri, #40, RW - Although Ville was drafted 43rd coaches has put faith in him and put him in second lineup with Pihl and Petrov. By blocking average 1 shot per game Ville has shown his defensive side. Like Tony and Toyesfki Ville has attacked alot too, 25 shots but only 1 goal. 1+1 isnt good for second lineup attacker but coaches have putted their faith in Ville and I think he has shown his potential and deserves to be in second line.

Pick 59. Janis Lux, #25, LW - Surprisingly young latvian has showed good game throughout 19 games. Although fourth lineups job is to bring energy and be active on defence they show their offence skills too. Lux has got 3 goals under his name from 13 shots. Lux have 19 hits and 15 blocked shots under his name too. So overall he is active and energetic attacker. Still lot to learn in SMJHL.

Undrafted Valdis Vējonis, #8, LD - Young latvian defencemen joined team after season has started, so he have only 13 games under his name. He plays in third pair with Jorg Fuchs. Although Vējonis still hasnt got a goal under his name he has 1 fight under his name. 0+4 isnt bad and there are lot more to come from young defencemen. His +/- could be better (now -8) but we need to remember that he is a rookie and its not easy to play in SMJHL.
