S55 - Casino - Late season edition
2588 words

Firstly, I just want to apologize for the lack of media this season. My motivation to do much has been very low as of late, but I’m gonna try my best to finish out this season somewhat strong with at least this article along with a recap at the end of playoffs (or maybe during with school coming up).

Anyway without further ado here is the very late first article of the S55 casino!
After a record breaking season that saw 89 casino participants with 240 million dollars on the line just last season, you guys blew it out of the record books with this season seeing the participant number climbing all the way up to 137 participants, accounting for 357 million dollars on the line! This includes 87 parlays (almost more than last season participants!?!), 162 over bets and 226 under bets that make up for 388 bets made total.

Stats don’t end there however. I’ve compiled how many bets on each team have been made and how much money is on the line for each team.

BAP Platoon : 32 bets for 29.2 million. 0 cup winner bets
BUF Stampede : 8 bets for 7.8 million. 21 cup winner bets
CGY Dragons : 6 bets for 5.2 million. 2 cup winner bets
CHI syndicate : 19 bets for 17.4 million. 13 cup winner bets
EDM Blizzard : 2 bets for 1.2 million. 4 cup winner bets
HAM Steelhawks : 5 bets for 3.6 million. 2 cup winner bets
LAP Panthers : 13 bets for 10.6 million. 0 cup winner bets
MAN Rage : 10 bets for 8.8 million. 6 cup winner bets
MIN Chiefs : 18 bets for 15.6 million. 1 cup winner bet
NEW Wolfpack : 27 bets for 19.6 million. 0 cup winner bets
NOLA Specters : 6 bets for 5.2 million. 4 cup winner bets
SFP pride : 107 bets for 104.4 million. 0 cup winner bets
TBB Barracuda : 38 bets for 33.6 million. 0 cup winner bets
TEX Renegades : 49 bets for 45.6 million. 0 cup winner bets
TOR Stars : 34 bets for 30.8 million. 0 cup winner bets
WIN Jets : 15 bets for 13.6 million. 1 cup winner bet

As of 8/12 sim

Baltimore Platoon
Over/Under: 14.5
Current Record: 10-20-2
On Pace For: 16-3-31
Over Bets: 2
Under Bets: 30

The Baltimore Platoon have had a decent season. Like all the most recent seasons, they are right in the middle of the pack. In no way a contender but not really at the bottom either. They’ve shown they can defeat some of the top dogs like HAM this season but have also been a bit inconsistent with the worst of them which has hurt their record. With that being said they are well on pace to break the 14.5 win threshold to the delight of you 2 over betters. The schedule ahead has a fair mix of both contenders and bottom feeders which could be interesting if the Platoon aren’t able to take the wins they should.

Buffalo Stampede
Over/Under 39.5
Current Record: 25-8-0
On Pace For: 38-12-0
Over Bets: 6
Under Bets: 2

I can confidently say that to no one's surprise, the Buffalo Stampede are currently sitting on top of the Eastern Conference with 25 wins on the season. Especially isn’t as much a surprise as they had started on an incredible 10-0 streak. (at least I think it was 10-0) They are just barely edged out by the New Orleans Specters for first in the whole league by 1 win which you know, could happen to do with the trade of both teams this season. Anyway moving on, the Stampede are just barely on pace to fall below the 39.5 win betting line by just 2 wins on the season (unfortunately), especially with 7 of the last 17 games being against playoff contending teams.

Calgary Dragons
Over/Under 30.5
Current Record: 17-8-5
On Pace For: 28-14-8
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 5

The Calgary Dragons are always an interesting team of sorts, one of many hot and cold streaks throughout the season. This season has been no different. Well it’s been a little different as the Calgary Dragons were able to pick up Leopold Lockhart from an imploding SFP this offseason which has helped them stay in the 3rd spot of the western conference, fighting back a up and coming Texas Renegades squad that are 3 wins behind in 4th. That being said with a low 17 win record on the season, they are quite underperforming the 30.5 win line as they are expected to only nab 11 more wins on the season for a 28 win finish.

Chicago Syndicate
Over/Under: 33.5
Current Record: 21-8-1
On Pace For: 35-13-2
Over Bets: 19
Under Bets: 0

The Chicago Syndicate are currently in 3rd in the east with 21 wins on the season, just 1 win behind the Manhattan Rage. The Chicago Syndicate had a relatively slow start to the season but until just recently, they went on a 9 game winning streak that helped them bring back their season. Along with putting them back on pace to pass the 33.5 win line the casino set on them. Chicago isn’t totally in the clear just yet however as half of their 20 games left will be against playoff contending teams. As long as they don’t drop games they shouldn’t, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue but regardless could make out for an interesting finish to their season.

Edmonton Blizzard
Over/Under: 34.5
Current Record: 22-7-1
On Pace For: 37-12-1
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 1

After a season that saw the Edmonton Blizzard not even reach 30 wins on the season, they surprisingly were quite quiet in the offseason. However once you give a glance at the roster, it really shows why they were as they have a nice young core that are going into the prime years of their careers. This has allowed them to solidify their spot in the top 2 of the west as they are already at 22 wins while being on pace for 37. Unfortunately only 1 better will truly benefit from the Blizzard’s stellar season as they should have no problem surpassing the 34.5 win marker we set them out on.

Hamilton Steelhawks
Over/Under: 36.5
Current Record: 19-12-2
On Pace For: 29-18-3
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 2

After dominating the league like how Hamilton has for the last few seasons, it’s somewhat odd to see them in 4th in the east and not even reaching 20 wins at this point in the season. However this offseason saw the Steelhawks trade away their star goalie but also acquired 2 of the best skaters in the league in Dick Clapper and Guy Zheng. I think that just goes to show how important it is to have a strong goalie but that’s not to say we should be counting out Hamilton just yet. They still should be able to cruise into playoff position comfortably as the 4th seed. The same can’t be said for the betting line however as the casino gave them a 36.5 win line which they will have to win all but 1 game for the rest of the season for them to pass.

Los Angeles Panthers
Over/Under: 26.5
Current Record: 13-17-0
On Pace For: 22-28-0
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 13

This season hasn’t been all too kind to this aging Los Angeles Panther squad as they are currently 6th in the west, sitting on 13 wins for the season. This isn’t really a surprise however as the gms of Los Angeles didn’t really make moves in the offseason to contend, if anything traded for pieces for a future rebuild. Luckily for all the LAP betters, they saw this coming and were able to vote for that under the 26.5 win betting line that looking back on I can definitely see was too high of an order. Anyway with one of the harder schedules to finish off the season, a 22 win pace definitely seems realistic for this Panther team unless they have a miraculous late season push.

Manhattan Rage
Over/Under: 34.5
Current Record: 22-7-3
On Pace For: 34-11-5
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 7

What an offseason it was for the Manhattan Rage. They were able to acquire Ola Wagstron, one the best players in the whole league, from a rebuilding New England team. With a very good core of players hitting their peaks, this new addition really helped them become a top team in the east and  it’s showing as they are currently at 22 wins for the season which has them slotted in at 2nd in the east. With a pace of 34 wins on the season however, it looks like they will just barely not overcome the 34.5 betting line. However they do have one of the easiest schedules to end their season so I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them break the pace to get a few wins over 34 so under betters don’t rest too assured from seeing the 34 win pace.

Minnesota Chiefs
Over/Under: 11.5
Current Record: 8-21-0
On Pace For: 14-36-0
Over Bets: 5
Under Bets: 13

Just looking at my old article, it’s kind of weird but the Minnesota Chiefs are actually pretty much having an identical season as last as at this mark they have 8 wins on the season which has them in last for the western conference. The Chiefs roster hasn’t really changed at all so that’s not really a surprise to say the least but it does seem like you guys are underestimating the roster a bit here as the majority of MIN betters are going for that under 11.5. To end the S55 season, the Minnesota Chiefs have a decent mix of teams they will be facing but the majority being lower end teams or teams that many wouldn’t consider playoff contenders so it will be interesting to see if they actually do match their 14 win pace that would allow for an over win.

New England Wolfpack
Over/Under: 18.5
Current Record: 14-13-3
On Pace For: 23-22-5
Over Bets: 20
Under Bets: 7

It’s been quite the rollercoaster for New England with the switch to FHM as the very first season we saw them dominate the competition with a 40 win season but just next season saw them out of playoffs which led to an imploding of the team as they lost big players like Wagstrom and Kirkby. That’s not to say they are in full rebuilding mode however as can be seen with their 14 win record that still has them in 5th in the eastern conference. With the first half of the remaining games of their schedule being relatively easy it should be easy for all your over betters out there.

New Orleans Specters
Over/Under 36.5
Current Record: 26-2-3
On Pace For: 42-3-5
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 3

THE REIGNING CHAMPS!!!! (Congrats btw)
Just saying that I think makes it not surprising at all seeing this team at the top of the league at the moment with a 26 win record (1 win above BUF). Especially after adding a top defenemen like Kirkby onto the cup winning squadron. Very unfortunate for you under betters, barring a late season breakdown, we can expect for the Specters to surpass the 36.5 win line quite easily for an over better win. This is supported even more so as NOLA has a very easy schedule to end their season.

San Francisco Pride
Over/Under 24.5
Current Record: 10-18-1
On Pace For: 17-31-2
Over Bets: 2
Under Bets: 105

I don’t even know what to say about this team to be completely honest, at least casino wise. As 105 of you know very very well, San Francisco blew up right before the season even started. With the loss of pretty much all their top end players, the Pride are currently 2nd to last in the western conference with 10 wins on the season and are currently on pace for a 17 win season which really isn’t too bad for what has happened. The San Francisco Pride along with the 2 over betters would need a miracle to surpass the 24.5 win line in order for an over better win.

Tampa Bay Barracudas
Over/Under: 3.5
Current Record: 5-26-0
On Pace For: 8-42-0 | Over better win!
Over Bets: 5
Under Bets: 33

After having a completely winless season in S54, even 1 win would be an improvement. To the surprise of many it seems, Tampa Bay was able to surpass the 3.5 win line and did it with half the season left no less. Although it doesn’t matter that much anymore, the water dogs of Tampa Bay do have a pretty hard schedule in front of them as they are playing quite a lot of teams looking to make it to the playoffs.

Fun fact: 23 parlays have been lost due to Tampa Bay over winning

Texas Renegades
Over/Under: 24.5
Current Record: 14-13-3
On Pace For: 23-22-5
Over Bets: 49
Under Bets: 0

You know… I don’t think this is going so well for all you Texas betters out there right now. The Texas Renegades at the moment are an up and coming team so it’s not too much a surprise that are currently sitting on 14 wins that have them in 4th in the western conference (fighting it out with Winnipeg) but they aren’t performing as well as many thought they would, especially once they added a player of Piotr Czerkawski’s calibre. With a pace of 23 wins on the season, all the Texas Renegades betters out there are definitely gonna be sad as they would need a 25 win season for a large casino loss. They definitely don’t have the hardest schedule so it’ll be interesting to see how this team will finish.

Toronto North Stars
Over/Under: 12.5
Current Record: 5-25-0
On Pace For: 8-42-0
Over Bets: 31
Under Bets: 3

Rippe. Another one that doesn’t look very bright for betters out there. The Toronto North Stars currently have 5 wins on the season which have them tied for last in the eastern conference alongside the Tampa Bay Barracudas. The forwards of Toronto seem to be having a tough time out there scoring the puck and the bad defense of that team hasn’t been a help at all. They are a rebuilding team though so it’s to be expected but it’s unfortunate to see them only be on pace for 8 wins for the season that will be much below the 13 wins needed for an over better win. Safe to say there will be 31 sad over betters at the end of the season.

Winnipeg Jets
Over/Under: 18.5
Current Record: 14-15-1
On Pace For: 23-25-2
Over Bets: 14
Under Bets: 1

With Los Angeles aging and San Francisco imploding on themselves, the Winnipeg Jets now have a decent chance to actually make the playoffs. It isn’t much a surprise though if you look at their roster. Filled with a really good core of high tpe players on both sides of the ice, only really missing out on a great goalie but Strom Chamberlain should fill that role pretty soon here. Anyway back to the casino, with the Winnipeg Jets on pace for a 23 win season (same as those Texans) they should be able to crush the 18.5 betting line for a 14 over better win.

Thank you all for reading the S55 late edition of casino media! Good luck with your bets as the season ends Smile

If trading 3 first round picks for 3 roster players and signing a 1400 TPE S49 player is a quiet off-season, I don't want to know what busy is Wink. Our moves definitely flew under the radar though.

I disagree purely on the basis that we have the easiest part of our schedule coming up. Over still possible
