Thaddeus Prince had quite the shoes to fill after the whirlwind of events that followed his fathers arrival to the SMjHL and his unknown departure. Thaddeus entered the league in a very similar fashion to his father but being abrasive and a very in your face attitude that has brought him a lot of intention. He is definitely playing with a chip on his shoulder. Lets now compare Thaddeus Prince's Start compared to his father's rookie season.

Kyle Prince - GP: 34| Wins: 16|Save %:0.881| GAA: 3.36| SO:1

Thaddeus Prince - GP: 26| Wins: 13|Save % :0.895 | GAA: 2.57| SO:1

Thaddeus definitely seems to have an edge on his father in terms of raw stats. With that said he has played 8 less games thus far as his season has yet to wrap up. Kyle Prince's Regina Force seemed to be a much more offensive oriented team and often would just try to outscore the other team than really played good team defense. Where as the Militia seem to be playing a more solid 5 in front of their net-minder. I would not be surprised to see Thaddeus Prince to round off his season in a strong fashion and show all the SHL Gm's that he has what it takes to be lights out for them. If Thaddeus keeps working hard he will become a puck stopping machine for the militia and whatever team drafts him into the SHL.

Coming into the season, Goalkeeper Thaddeus Prince was hyped as the next Jackson Weekes. As he worked his way through midgets, he eventually was drafted second overall in the SMJHL draft by the Montreal Militia. Despite his modest start in terms of the hockey community, this assumed unfinished product has supplied the Militia with steady and consistent goalkeeping so far this season. Posting the third best save percentage, and goals against average has kept Prince as the top goalie from this current draft class. Despite his great statistics, I felt through my scouting of this young prospect that his ceiling is very low, however his floor could be unbelievably high for an SMJHL prospect. His main weakness is rebound control, and given that the SHL is a league with a lot of pace and skill, bad rebounds will lead to more goals against him. Apart from that weakness, none others stick out and his reaction time, hand speed, and size should help him survive in the SHL almost immediately. His reactions will make up for bad rebounds, along with his size given his humongous six foot four frame. Do not Look for Prince to become a star goalie when he finally makes the jump to the SHL, but he is not a generational talent. He will be always be an above average goalie, but never quite elite.

Picked 6th overall, Teemu Sirius was one of the most highly-touted prospects in the S32 SMJHL draft. The young winger was picked up by the Prince George Firebirds, an organization that has produced legends like Joe McKeil, David Winter, and Michal Pivonka.

Unfortunately, while many scouts expected Sirius to be the best sniper in the draft class, he's struggled thus far. His 8 goals and single assist are good for 9 points in 31 games played. While this is nothing to sneeze at, it's not even in the top ten for rookie scoring. It is worth noting that of the top ten, only Hamalainen has as many goals as Sirius. But as a pure sniper, Teemu hasn't been racking up assists like several of his fellow rookies.

Sporting a -2 on a team with a positive goal differential, Sirius' defensive play has also begun to come into question. Despite this, the Prince George management continues to show their faith in him, keeping him on the second penalty kill unit.

Of course, it's not all negative for Sirius. He's getting first line minutes, as well as time on both special teams, amounting to almost 19 minutes a game. Not many rookies find themselves on the first line. Additionally, while he may not be top 10 in points, his 17.39 shooting percentage is good for 7th among all players in the SMJHL.

What can you say about the Colorado Mammoth superstar Zinaida Titova that hasn't already been said? The Russian phenom was drafted 10th overall this past off season at the SMJHL Rookie Entry Draft and judging from the first 31 games, she should have gone much closer to first overall. A dynamic and deceptively gritty winger who's been a steady influence in all 3 zones for Colorado this season, Titova is certainly one to watch as the season closes and the SHL Rookie Entry Draft approaches.

With 9 assists and 12 points the two way forward is dishing the puck like a seasoned playmaker. And while the (-10) rating has to be a concern for a two way forward, the Left Winger has been laying the body and the stick with 14 Hits and 47 Shots. The Mammoths have relied on Titova to become the Power play Quarterback this season and thus far it's working amassing 5 assists on the man advantage thus far.

Titova is poised to climb up the draft board as the prospects enter the final phase of scouting before the SHL Rookie Entry Draft and along with Langabeer will be one of the most coveted Left Wingers available. In the meantime look for Colorado to continue developing Titova as they continue to push for the playoffs.

CAELEN FEARGHAL SCOUTING REPORT

The Prince George Firebirds have been exceeding expectations this season, in some part thanks to one of their top draft picks, Caelen Fearghal. With 11 points on the season despite being a defensive defenseman, Caelen has shown to be a capable player on both sides of the puck, and his 35 shots blocked is the highest total on his squad. And while physicality like his will usually cause a player significant 2-minute timeout trips, he’s so far only picked up 17 penalty minutes total, with 5 of that coming from a fight he took part in. Overall, his 9 assists and 2 goals show he’s not a one-dimensional player on offense, and his defensive accomplishments are nothing to scoff at either. He seems to be one of those rare players who can just do it all.

Looking at his attributes, it’s clear to see just why he’s been playing so well. With high strength (69) and puck handling (69) statistics, he’s talented at retaining the puck as well as stripping it from the opponents. Meanwhile, his passing (70) and defense (73) shape the other parts of his game, showing him to be responsible on either side of the ice. A careful, thoughtful player, Caelen doesn’t often take unnecessary risks and has a mind for the game far beyond his years. He’s a player to watch if your team is going up against his.

Michael Walker has started to shine with the Montreal Militia with this past season. Drafted 29th in the SMJHL, he was elected as the second lieutenant on the Militia as a rookie, showing that not every successful player has to be a first round pick. He clearly has shown himself to be a leader in the room with this position.

This left winger is doing well for himself, having six goals and three assists so far and the low number isn't from a lack of trying. Walker has a total of 57 shots on goal, clearing marking that he is in position. He also isn't afraid to get space to do his work, having 9 hits. These have been mostly clean, considering that he only has 7 PIM in total, extremely low among teammates and especially in comparison to Kristofer Hallfredsson who has 56 PIM.

While this could be disheartening to some, this sniper is growing and could become one of the better snipers with the right time and development. Walker is the first line winger and he is proving to all of us that he deserves that position.

Zinaida Titova, left winger for the Colorado Mammoths was drafted 10th overall in the 32nd SMJHL draft. A two way forward, she has a lot of potential going forward. At only 5 ft, 5 inches tall and 150 pounds, checking is not a strong ability for Zinaida. Nevertheless, she has still put out a repectable 16 hits in 34 games. With a passing score of 69, you would expect a lot of assists out of Zinaida, and she has not dissapointed in that category, racking up 10 assists. 5 of those assists have come on the power play, where Zinaida is currently on the second line. Going forward, Zinaida's +/- of -8 might need to be improved if she wants to go high in the season 33 SHL draft. Zinaida has shown an excellent amount of self control, with only 6 penalty minutes so far.

All and all, you can't really blame Zinaida for her poor plus minus, as Colorado has a goal differential of -21. Ziniada s however tied for the rookie points lead on the Mammoths. I feel that Zinaida will get better as the season progresses, and that she has the potential to go as high in the SHL draft as she did in the SMJHL draft.
