S36 PT #4 - Studs and Duds

STUDS
Raven Silverwing - Wolfpack
Silverwing did better than Dominique in points this season (48 - 36), so that's stud status enough in our book. More than that though, he upped his assists (21 -> 28) and almost tripled his hit count (25 -> 70), so it seems that he's doing a lot for his teammates.

Xander Green - Wolfpack
The rookie on the Wolfpack made his presence known with 26 points this season (9 goals, 17 assists). That's pretty classy right there. The GMs trusted him enough to be the on second line, so that tells you something, too, since that is where Dieter Dominique was put on last season, so only the best and brightest are on the second line (until they become the best and brightest on the first line). Green put up more points than seven Wolfpack vets, so watch out, ig.

DUDS
Ales Smirnov - Wolfpack to Panthers
Everyone thought it was going to be Dieter Dominique and Ales Smirnov until the end of time in the Wolfpack points scoring race (just me? ok.), but Smirnov went from 60 points in S35 to 29 in S36 on Wolfpack before he went to the Los Angeles Panthers and put up 15 more for a total of 44. Though he stayed pretty on top of scoring and probably would have remained as such on the Wolfpack, we're calling Smirnov a dud bc he didn't score more than ten than Dieter, and we expect only the best from him.

Patrikov Bure - Wolfpack
We're going to pick on him, because Jenny said we couldn't pick on Mia. Bure went back to his #washedup ways in S36, putting up 27 points compared to his 42 in S35. Though it looks like a lot of his other stats stayed consistent, his assists were down by 10 (24 -> 14) and THAT just WON'T cut it in this brutal studs vs. duds Wolfpack edition.

Studs:

Jason Visser Jets - Visser had an amazing season for the Winnipeg Jets. He had a career high 70 points, with 27 goals and 43 assists. Those 70 points were tied for 2nd in the league in scoring. Visser was key component for the Jets finishing 2nd in the Western Conference.

Noro Wozy Steelhawks - Wozy had a really strong sophomore season. He put up 43 points 19 goals and 24 assists. He finished second on his team for scoring. He was one of the few bright spots on Hamilton this season.

Duds:

VLAD McZehrl Stampede - McZ had a down year compared to his standards. He had one of the lowest point totals of his career. Finishing the season with 17 goals, 23 assists and 40 points.

Ben Dover Steelhawks - Dover's point totals were good. Matching his previous season of 44 points. His +/- was awful though. He finished the season as a -29. One of the worst in the SHL. He's is going to have to improve that if Hamilton hopes to make the playoffs anytime soon.

STUD:

Sebastian Strange: the guy was dynamite for the Panthers this season he never missed a beat with putting up a team high 53 points through 50 games. The biggest thing that made him a stud was the 185 shots on net and 6 of them being game winners.

Crossfit Jesus: He was a rookie coming into the league but you couldn't team with how he played out there playing in 50 games this season he managed to put up 31 points. He had a very solid shooting percentage for being a rookie at 10.45%.

DUD:

Matthew Auston: After being the leading scoring last season in the SMJHL going into the first season with the Panthers there was high expectations. Averaging 13 minutes a game and playing 50 games Auston managed 14 points 8 of them being goals and 3 being game winnings goals but he just couldn't stay consistent throughout the year.

Mikko Koskinen: Playing the backside on the Steelhawks he just couldn't get it done being a minus 36 on the season and averaging just under 20 minutes a game of playing time just wasn't cutting it. The thing that was more scary how does a guy only put up 17 shots in a 50 game season get this guy shooting the puck and maybe things would turn around for him.
