Task 1: Pm'd

Task 2:

Quote:For this catagorie we will be looking at the players between the posts for Montreal and Prince George. Respectively Matt Lewis-Flood and Michael McFadden.
The goaltender is the backbone of the squad, their job is to keep their team in the game. A few mistakes on their part and the game is over, so let's see how both these goaltenders have played so far and how they have carried their team to the finals.

Matt Lewis-Flood;

GP: 13 - W: 11 - L: 2 - OTL: 0 - PCT: 0.920 - GAA: 1.72 - GA: 22 - SO: 2 - SA: 275

Michael McFadden

GP: 15 - W: 8 - L: 5 - OTL: 2 - PCT: 0.907 - GAA: 1.99 - GA: 30 - SO: 3 - SA: 321

3 games into the final and with montreal taking all games so far, it isn't suprising to see Lewis-Flood having more wins than McFadden, but looking at OT and Regular loses we see that McFadden has alot more. Doubling regular loses and having lost Overtime games shows McFadden has had some trouble keeping himself steady between the pipes.

Lewis-Flood has the better GAA and Save percentage, but has also faced less shots and has been in less games than the firebirds goalie.

McFadden has shown to be able to lock down games, having a respectable 3 shutouts under his name, it also shows lack of consistancy.

Put side to side I believe both these goalies are amazing players. McFadden has had to face more shots which also suggest his defence isn't keeping pucks from the net aswell as Montreal is, but at the end of the day Lewis-Flood sticks above McFadden by a little.

Task 3:

Quote:We can all agree that Game 7 of Round 2 has to be the biggest game in the Firebird's playoff run.

After a back and forth first 6 games, in which Colorado won the first, Prince George coming back 2-1, going down 2-3 and winning game 6 to force a game 7, it showed Prince George's will to win.

A big game for both these teams, Colorado on their way to repeat last years final against Montreal and the Firebirds who finally made it out of Round 1, since the last time that happened way back in Season 17. Were now one game away from reaching the finals.

A do or die moment for both teams and what a game it was. After a fast first period where the Mammoths got a 2-0 lead in the first 3 minutes, they soon slipped and let John Beckner make his second of the playoffs a few seconds after the third minute mark. An equalizer came late in the 17th minute of the first period when John Beckner made his second of the night.
It stayed tied for an entire period and it wasn't until the 13th minute of the third when the game was finally decide. Donald Trump shoots one past goalie Andrews and the Firebirds made the finals of the cup for the first time in a long time.

Task 4:

Quote:We'll be looking at a head to head between the Militia and the Prince George Firebirds. Mostly were going to be looking at the games that were played during the regular season and see if that reflects how this series could go.

Montreal and Prince George have played each other a total amount of 6 teams during the regular season.

In these six games montreal took the regular time win four times, there was one OT win for the militia and one shootout win for the firebirds. This roughly sketches a picture of montreal being the dominant team of the two during the regular season.

Now let's take a look at each game and see what the decisive factor was in the games.

Game one was the overtime for the militia, strong first period in which they got up 2, followed by a strong second by the firebirds who tied it 2-2. It was early in OT that the winner was scored. Montreal lead the shots and while McFadden was having a good night, the shots became to many for him.

Game two was a 3-1 win for the militia, strong game in which the firebirds couldn't get much on net.

Game third a 4-0 shutout, montreal just pounding shots on the net.

Game four was a 5-2 win for the militia, same story, offensively the militia were way stronger, which way more shots.

Game five a hard fought SO victory for PGF, McFadden played very well to keep the many shots out of the net and ended up winning it all for his team.

Game 6 was 3-1 defeat for the firebirds. A game in which they defensively lacked alot.

Our conclussion is that montreal's offensive powerhouse will generate a lot of trouble for the firebirds who's defence just isn't quite there yet. The otherway around is the case for prince george, montreal's defense fights well against the attacks PGF brings and will give them no chance to shoot.

We expect alot of goals from the militia camp and also a cup win for montreal.
