TASK TWO: What has been the biggest game of the playoffs so far? Can be either SHL or SMHJL, 150 words.

The biggest game of the playoffs so far has been game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals where Manhattan came home with a 2-0 lead over New England. In the first period, the two teams exchanged goals as Redding scored for the Rage on the power play early in the game and then Morenov tied it about five minutes later.

The second period was the same as both teams scored goals again but this time it was New England who scored first as Lundberg scored and then Hans tied the game late in the second with the Rage’s second power play goal of the game. Again in the third period, the two teams exchanged goals as the Wolfpack took a 3-2 lead with just over 8 minutes left in the game, but once again, the Rage tied it with their third power play goal of the game as Razin netted the goal to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, the Rage outshot the Wolfpack 8 to 6 and it was that 8th shot that gave them the win with just four seconds left in overtime as Sarone scored and gave the Rage a 3 games to 0 lead and put the two time defending champs on the rope. You could just see the Wolfpack tired and deflated and in the next game, their quest for a 3-peat ended.


TASK THREE: Write a 150 word radio advert for the S32 Finals Matchup.

Come down to the Rage arena for game 1 of the SHL finals as your Manhanttan Rage take on the Calgary Dragons from the western conference. You will get to see your favorite rage players like McZ, Wollker, Hamilton, Hans, Razin and rookie goaltender Aittokallio try to stop the Dragons and their fire packed lineup of Laflamme, Pederson, Esa, Mack and Wong from winning another championship. The first one thousand fans through the gates tonite will get a special S32 coin featuring the logos of both teams on one side and the SHL championship logo on the back. Everyone receiving a program tonite will have to check on page 69 for a special VLAD McZehrl autograph to win a game used, signed athletic supporter from VLAD himself. Don’t forget game time is at 705pm EST and get to your seats early for a special presentation of the Rage season on the jumbotron and a special guest singer for the National Anthems! Let’s go RAGE!!

TASK FOUR: Who is your choice for MVP? Must be 150 words.

Even though VLAD McZehrl is leading the league so far this playoff season in points with 19 and goals with 8, it is his teammate, Wyatt Wollker, whom I believe is the playoff MVP so far this season. He is currently second in the playoffs in scoring with 17 points on 5 goals and 12 assists while being a +4.
He is logging over 32 minutes per game and is facing the other team’s top players night in and night out. He has 23 minutes in penalties so far while dishing out just 9 hits, but blocking 26 shots and taking 37 shots of his own.

He has been a beast on the power play with 2 goals and 5 assists while getting 20 shots on goal in 36 minutes on the power play. This playoff run has truly been his breakout and although he doesn’t lead the team in scoring, he is straw that has been stirring Manhattan’s drink this playoff run and one of the main reasons why they are in the finals.

Unforetunately, even some of the better players in the league do not make the playoffs and for the 6 teams that didn’t – Buffalo, Hamilton, Toronto, Portland, Texas and Winnipeg, we can still come up with an all star team from them. Each team will have one rep in the lineup:

Forward – Damien Wert – Toronto – led the North Stars with 25 goals, 26 assists and 51 points on the season (next closest teammate was 10 points behind). He was also a +16 and played nearly 24 minutes per game.

Forward #2 – Geronimo Otto – Portland – led the Admirals in goals with 12 and points with 32 while only being a -14 (compared to other players being -20 and above) and he did all this while only playing just above 18 minutes per game.

Forward #3 – Luke Fleming – Winnipeg – led the Jets in goals with 21 and points with 44 and chipped in with 23 assists as well. Gave out 135 hits while taking 239 shots in just under 23 minutes per game.

Defense #1 – Friedrich Muller – Buffalo – led his team with 21 goals and 48 points and was second on the team in assists with 27.

Defense #2 – Ben Dover – Hamilton – highest scoring defenseman on the Steelhawks with 8 goals and 23 assists for 31 points and was a -11. Had 29 hits, 87 shots and blocked 82 shots in just over 25 minutes per game.

Goalie – Christoffer Bjornsson – Texas – played in 43 games and had a record of 26-15-2 with a .910 save percentage, 2.40 GAA and 4 shutouts.
