Andy Kerr has always had a dream to play in a province and city that he could never afford to live in. Thankfully, in this economical climate, that dream came true when the Vancouver Whalers drafted Kerr - the power forward center from Moose Jaw, SK - 18th overall in the S44 SMJHL draft. Kerr, attending the draft, upon being announced as the draftee immediately leaped from his seat and began packing his bags at his table. This would've been out of place but Kerr had brought a life-sized cutout of Howie Mandel and planted it right beside himself. The rest of the draftees and families at the table applauded him packing it up rather than his name being announced as a junior professional hockey player.
When asked about how he felt being drafted 18th overall, Kerr kept his comment short and sweet, "I honestly expected to go 69th." The memes are strong with this one. We'll see what the young man can bring to the Whaler tabler. Rob Wright
