PGS S47 Game 135: Montreal Militia vs. Colorado Raptors
#2

TURNING POINT: (Comment#1)
Tempers flared between these two teams as Akashi SixNine dropped the mitts with Henry Morris IV - The two fought to a draw, but the momentum was completely on the Montreal Militia's side afterwards. Militia's Morris was blindsided by SixNine - when Morris held his own, the Militia used this momentum to carry them the rest of the way. The Montreal Militia were already up by one goal, and with the skill differential between these two teams, any swing in momentum could be detrimental to the Colorado Raptors.

GOALTENDING MATCHUP: (Comment#2) The Colorado Raptors absolutely blew it tonight - on offense, on defence, and in between the pipes. Alexander Thorstrom registered his sixth lost of the season, posting an abysmal .824, saving 14 of 17 shots. On the other end, The offense, defense and goaltending were all picture perfect - the offense registered three goals, and the defense helped O'Koivu-Kolova record yet another win and shutout this season - interestingly enough, the Colorado Raptors outshot the Militia tonight -  In the third period alone, the Raptors has 12 shots to Montreal's TWO! The Raptors have youth, speed and grit but they do not have three things that the Miilitia have - skill, experience and elite goaltending.

THE DETAILS: (Comment#3)

Sure, the Colorado Raptors outshot the Montreal Militia in tonight's losing effort, however, if one took a closer look at the numbers, we could see why exactly this happened tonight. For instance, The Montreal Militia lead the Colorado Raptors in HITS, FACEOFF WINS, and BLOCKED SHOTS. If you actually take a look at the advanced stats, it appears as if the Militia should have soared away with the game tonight. The only significant stat (besides shots) that the Raptors lead in is Penalty Minutes - 21 in a night, compared to 11 of Montreal's. This Raptors team has a LOT to work on - they need to become disciplined and skilled, if this young core can gel together, I believe that they may have a chance to beat some of the St.Louises, Montreals, and Anaheims of the world. The question begs, when will this young Raptors squad be ready?
