PGS S47 Game 91: St. Louis vs. Vancouver
#6

1. PLAYER VS. PLAYER

This player vs. player will include first line defenseman Basil Magnicotta of St. Louis and Bernik Vrzala of Vancouver. We will compare the efforts by the two players and see which one did more to contribute in this game. First category is always points, so let's compare goals and assists. Basil had 1 assist in the game with no shots on goa and a 0 +/-l, he assisted the final nail-in-the-coffin goal in the 3rd period. Bernik had 1 goal this game, on the power play, this was the only goal Vancouver scored in the game. Bernik had 3 shots on net and -1 +/-. This is an easy category to judge, Bernik Vrzala wins the points category for  Whalers . The next category will be defensive stats which will include hits, shots blocked and PIMs. Basil had an amazing 5 shots blocked, 1 hit and no penalty minutes. Bernik had 2 hits, 1 shot blocked and 0 PIMs making the winner of the second category, Basil Magnacotta of  Scarecrows . The third and final category will look at the time on ice for each player to decide who the overall winner of player vs. player is today as the first two categories see different winners. TOI is usually the tie breaker as both players are so close in statistics, we can see who accomplished what they did in the least amount of time. Basil's TOI was 20:07 and Bernik's 16:41. Bernik Vrzala edges out for the win with significantly less time on the ice, winner is Vancouver Whalers' Bernik Vrzala  Whalers .

2. GAME CHANGING MISTAKE

Tonight's game changing mistake comes just before the Scrows second goal in the second period. This goal scored by Nicolaj Muller turned out to be the game winning goal for St. Louis. Prior to Muller's puck finding the twine, the Whalers defense looked absolutely lazy on the ice or possibly just confused. A bad line change occured causing Volkov and Ackroyd to be paired together for the first time this season and neither one knew what the other was planning to do. Both players could be seen on the replay marking the same guy and bumping into eachother. St. Louis' Noah Gallagher, who was hot in tonight's game really took advantage of Vancouver's confusion on the ice as he was able to fire off 1 shot after the other on net with nobody able to knock him off the puck, just sit back and watch. After Gallagher's second shot on goal, Muller was then able to collect the rebound with a third unanswered shot in a row for the team, this time it was fatal and went right in mid blocker side.

3. THREE STAR ANALYSIS

Three star analysis is where we take a look at tonight's three stars of the game and see why they were given the honour.

1. Billy Sorokin  Scarecrows : Billy Sorokin is St. Louis' starting goaltender tonight and he had an amazing performance in net, without him this game would have gone very differently. He had a .971 save percentage allowing just on goal in a game where he saw 35 shots!

2. Nicolaj Muller  Scarecrows : Muller who was mentioned above in the game changing mistake scored St. Louis' game winning goal so it's easy to see why he was given second star honours. On top of the GWG, Muller put up an assist for 2 points total, a +/- of +2 and he did it all with only 14 odd minutes on the ice from the third line!

3. Noah Gallagher  Scarecrows : Gallagher was also mentioned above in the game changing mistake where we talked about his relentless shots on net, one after another where he contributed an assist to the game winning goal. On top of this, Gallagher scored a goal of his own for 2 points, a +/- of +2 and 2 hits during 14:30 of ice time all from the 3rd line where he plays alongside Muller.
