Much has been said about the Toronto Maple Leafs and their commitment to starting a rebuild, but that may be fast-tracked in light of recent events. After shipping out Tyler Bozak and some spare parts for star center Logan Couture, the Leafs have been playing some outstanding hockey.

There were several hack journalists writing pieces along the lines of "will Kessel still perform without Bozak? Have the Leafs destroyed their top line's chemistry?" but we can assure you that this is not the case. Logan Couture has scored at least 1 point in each of his 3 games with the team so far, including a 6-4 upset over the Washington Capitals, in which COuture and Kessel made a mockery out of the Caps defense. Couture notched a goal and 4 assists, while Kessel found the back of the net 4 times himself. The only disappointment in said game was new Leafs backup Dustin Tokarski, who allowed 4 goals on only 25 shots. However, we hope he will soon return to the form he had in Montreal, where he received the "Rookie of the Month" distinction in October.

In other news, rumor has it that the Leafs have shown interest in Blues prospect Dmitri Jaskin, who has supposedly fallen out of favor with Blues management.

Zadorov wins OHL player of the week for the second times this year, with 3G 6A in 3 games. Also, Chris Gibson wins ECHL Player of the Week and Saver of the Week, after playing 2 games and recording 2 shutouts.

Kessel is currently on a 5 game scoring streak.

Couture has 19P in 8 games.

Took Kassian 12 games to score his first goal His stat line is:

Hasn't been able to put it together despite 2nd line and PP time.


Buffalo dropped hard and are currently sitting at 26th overall, but only 3 points ahead of 28th. Canucks in 29th and Sens in 30th.
