TASK THREE: Who has the edge, New England or Texas? What (or who) will be the biggest factor for one team to triumph over the other? Must be at least 150 words.

It’s really a fairly even match up across the board when you truly break it all down.

The best 2 defenses in the League TPE wise. Mixed with some amazing forward depth, tossed in with some pretty comparable goal tenders and you have a hard finals to judge. With the Wolfpack they have almost unlimited experience to rely on it feels like, but the Core of Texas has been around for ages.

If they was something akin to real life, it would come down to really comparing the Sharks vs the Penguins in the cups finals (if Pittsburgh was 100%). A team who has won it all already, and has the experience and depth to get the job done again, and many expect them too VS the team who has been around forever and how hungry are they really? As Texas I would want to do this now. Win now. There is no second chances. As New England I lean on past experience and just do what they know is needed to win. This series screams 7 games up and down and I expect no less to be honest. It will be hard fought and full of some surprises for sure with young and old players all having a significant impact.

TASK ONE: You’re the coach of one of the teams in the playoffs! At least you’d like to think you are. Come up with a new set of lines for one of the teams eliminated in the playoffs, and explain why you made the choices you did. Must be at least 150 words.

Randy Randleman-Schnitinfritz Jagr-Nicholas Pedersen 34 0-0-5
Shane Gagner-Taro Eichelele-Esa Anrikkanen 33 0-1-4
Alex Mack-Joe Kurczewski-Pierre-Luc Laflamme 33 0-2-3

Michael Boychuk-Chucky Goody JR. 35 1-2-2
Hunky Monkey-Connor O'Reilly 30 1-2-2
Fernando Pergher-Jaime Hill 30 1-2-2

The Dragons are one of the deepest teams in the league, lets spread out the talent and have three top lines in the SHL instead of just loading up the offense, The defense, Goody might not be the greatest but Boychuck can carry him. I believe that high-end players have the ability to carry lower tpe players.1-2-2 is a strategy I believe is the best for defencemen I saw one of the best coaches/general managers in shl history use it and he was able to win cups like it was his job. I know some people dont like a spread out offense as usually the third line seems like it doesnt produce as efficently. I might think about spiltiing up the ice time on the 3rd and 4th lines and have the same line together on both of them. I have seen that work quite well in the past.

TASK TWO: Who is your choice for the unsung hero of the S36 playoffs up to this point? Must be at least 150 words and include at least two statistics in support.

Roman Morenov, he might not be the most talented hockey player on the Wolfpack but he is a steady defenceman that eats up 23 minutes of the game and has managed to be a positive in the +/- category. He is a +8 which has been a big part of their cup run, they also have been managed to get 5 assists, which is okay offensive numbers. He has 33 hits which are the most on his team. Which is great, he is hard to play against on a team that is sometimes called the softpack. He brings a different element to his game and is actually quite the effective player in all zones in the hockey arena. he will not go down as someone leads his team all the way but he will go down as someone that they needed to have in the line-up on a nightly basis to win. He is a glue guy and I feel like that is quite important in the SHL.

TASK THREE: Who has the edge, New England or Texas? What (or who) will be the biggest factor for one team to triumph over the other? Must be at least 150 words.

I think New England has the edge and will manage to win this series. for three important reasons, ys I know that Texas is high on their win over the dragons who everyone thought would win it all this year but that will be their fall. they will be overconfident game 1 and lose, and it will go down from them. Wolfpack won't give up a lead, this isn't their first rodeo, they have been here before. The second reason is the experience advantage that the Wolfpack has. The third is in goal. I think with two teams that have a pretty even roster, whoever has the edge in goal will win the series and it's obvious that Laukkanen is a better goalie with a .933 save percentage in the playoffs. I think these are the reasons why New England will be crown Challenge cup champions in S36. Sorry, renegades.

TASK FOUR: The SHL is hosting a charity event including members of both teams from a series during this postseason. Describe how this teamwork event would go in a minimum of 150 words. Must include three player names from each team, the name of a charity and at least one activity.

The charity is called the cure of softness. The Texas Renegades historically has been one of the hardest teams in the league. They try their best to cure the softness of the SHL on a regular basis. apart of the charity is helping the soft which includes Jasper Clayton, Patrikov Bure, and Spitfire. Geoffrey Allen, Cody Black, and Zanarkand Abes try their best to lead this team to hardness, the first test is the MLP challenge which the soft players are shown a picture of an mlp and the another picture of tits. It is very hard for an MLP fan to run away from an MLP picture so we are trying to cure this illness by showing better things to look and watch. The second activity is watching a porno or watching the upcoming MLP. Basically, this charity works with the soft to cure them form their illness and make them tougher and harder human beings.

If I had been head coach of the Riot instead of Alex Santos, I would have done things a little differently. On forwards, I would have kept the beast line in the regular season together as the second line. Kian Hamilton, arguably MVP, was demoted to the third line to allow Iqbal time on the second line. This just seems like a straight down grade. Iqbal's no scrub, but Hamilton's elite. Santos did get the first line right with Lundberg-Wilson-Kane, except that it took until about game 4 for that to happen. Wilson had previously been playing third line all season. I would also have this first line playing 0-0-5 instead of 0-1-4, these guys don't play defence.

On defence, I would sub out Vas for Fearghal on line one. This isn't really a big deal though.

Whether my lines would actually work better is yet to be seen. I would trust Santos more than me, however, as I have never played around with the sim. Santos did an outstanding job all season so I had complete trust in him that his lines would be better than anything I could make.

TASK TWO: Who is your choice for the unsung hero of the S36 playoffs up to this point? Must be at least 150 words and include at least two statistics in support.

The unsung hero for the Renegades throughout the playoffs has been Conklin Owen. He does not get much credit as he is way down in their team leaderboard. But, he has put up 4 goals, which ties him for second on the team in that point. His lack of assists really brings down his apparent usefulness. The reason that he is maybe not getting as many assists could be due to his linemates. His linemates don't seem too eager to put the puck in the net. Don't fault Owen for those around him's inability to score.
He has also done a great job of getting the puck on the net. Regardless of whether the puck goes in or not, this creates scoring chances and helps to tire out the opposing goalie. He has put up a respectable 30 shots on net through this playoffs so far. Look for him to play a key role in the Renegades winning the cup.

TASK THREE: Who has the edge, New England or Texas? What (or who) will be the biggest factor for one team to triumph over the other? Must be at least 150 words.

I would definitely give the edge to New England. They seem to be the team of destiny this year. With their late push and their scraping through to make it to the finals they seem to never lose. The winner will be whoever Simon T prefers and it consistently seems to be New England.

I predict that Patrikov Bure will have a big impact on the outcome of this series. He has been producing very well for New England during these playoffs. But, taking a closer look at his stats he currently has a 17% shooting percentage. That is extremely high, it is very likely that he regresses this series. That would cost the Wolfpack a ton of production. However, on the flip side, if he continues shooting at that pace, te Wolfpack could breeze by the Renegades.

Task 1

As the so called coach of the St. Louis Scarecrows I would make very minimal line changes but some that I think would have helped quite a bit. As we struggled with offense and had trouble outshooting opponents I would have switched Scotty Steele and Joseph Lombardi on the 1st and 2nd lines respectively. While having 2 snipers on the same line as a shoot first center isn't the normal for most teams I think the change could have sparked us to shoot more and possibly score some more goals. I would also have upped the ice time percentages for our first D pairing of Hansen and Augustus as they are our 2 best Dmen and I would prefer to have our workhorses out for longer periods of time. While Augustus is also on the PP and PK I think he could have handled it fine as well as Hansen who played the PK as well.
Code:

Task 2

My unsung hero of the playoffs up to this point has to come from the 6th seeded Detroit Falcons. While they were the underdog in their opening series they were able to take care of the Scarecrows. While unsung hero is highly subjective my pick would go to young Jurgis Belota, the Falcons' rookie winger. While only averaging 16 minutes a game he has been able to put up 9 points(4 G, 5 A) which is tied for second on the team. More impressively to me is his clutch play when it matters most. Even though he has but 4 goals, 2 of them are game winners proving that when he does score he's going to make it hurt the most. He's also been able to do most of his damage in 5 on 5 play as he only has one power play goal. Not to be a slouch either he's put up 9 hits while not a terribly high amount it is good for around the middle of the pack for his team. So mostly for his clutchibility Belota is my unsung hero.

Task 3

I think that neither team has a clear cut advantage in the finals. Each team I think has individual advantages that don't outweigh the other team's advantages and it will be interesting to see which team comes out on top. Texas I believe has to rely heavily on it's top lines to outscore a very deep New England team. If the first 2 lines, specifically Allen, Durden, James, and Owen can get hot then I don't believe Texas can be stopped. Also Texas needs continued strong play from Pel in net. New England has incredible depth on the third line and if that line of Kennedy, Spitfire, and Talo can score a few goals here and there and shut down Texas while on the ice then I think they have a good shot. Neither team has been super effective on the power play so far this postseason either so if one team can find something that works I think they could get just a small step up to give them a win in a couple games.

The Winnipeg Jets were ousted from the playoffs way to early. In the first game the first line came out with a hat trick by Visser and all was well. But by game 3-6 that top line was shut down, and no changes were made. The second line of Bearss and Fleming were doing some damage and trying to keep up to the Renegades, but it just wasn’t enough. I know that the first line of Visser – Evans – Pellegrino carried the team throughout the season, but playoffs are a different animal.

Renegades top line outplayed the Jets top line. The highest scorers were there, as they should be.

I would have switched Pellegrino out for Bearss to make it Visser – Evans – Bearss. Bearss is a two way forward with a hankering to hit people and a 94 Defense rating. With more of a focus on passing in his game, Visser and Evans would have been fighting over all the delicious apples that Bearss would be serving up. Just ask Fleming with his 11 points in 6 games. This may have been enough to slow down the Renegades top line and turn the tides in the favour of the Jets. The second line would have been A-OK as it has been proven that Pellegrino and Fleming play well with each other as one is a play maker and the other a pure bred scorer.

The New England Wolfpack are always in the hunt for playoff supremacy. Their team always funtctions at a high level from all positions. So much focus goes into the Line 1 stars, and the first Defensive pairings. So lets take a look at that roster beyond those lines. Toivo Kosonen is my choice for unsung hero up to this point. With most of the high point earners in the close to 30 minute range, Kosonen is playing an average of 24.53 minutes. In those minutes he has scored 1 goals and 12 assists for 13 points in 12 games. So that makes him over a point per game. If that’s not enough, Kosonen is also a +10 rating, which by the way leads the “leaders” in +/-. All of this from the 2nd Defense pairing, and top power play unit. This is the kind of secondary scoring that a team needs to go all the way and win. Texas has shown that they can shut down the top line, so if Kosonen can step up and be a beast, they can win the cup against the Renegades.

Warning. This is going to be a harsh piece. [Image: giphy.gif] I think Texas has the edge. Is their team well rounded? Yes. Do they have lots of depth? Yes. Is Adam Kaiser a god-damn beast? Yes. [Image: tenor.gif] Their goals for and goals against totals are pretty much equal to those of The Wolfpack. Their shots against totals are much lower being 292 – 424 (Although the Wolfpack have played 2 more games). They both seem to struggle on he power play but be a beast on the penalty kill. But here is where the edge lies. Their leader and GM, Jack Durden has been cheating the whole playoff run **GASP!** [Image: K6r60.gif] After the series where the Jets lost to the Renegades, I was checking out some player pages and came across his.

The charity event would take place in Kenora, Ontario. It is the Husky the Musky foundation which raises money for sick kids in the town through the means of a celebrity fishing tournament. [Image: 2251698.jpg] Why Kenora? Well when the Winnipeg Jets and Texas Renegades played off against each other – it was really a battle between Corey Bearss and Adam Kaiser. They both were raised in that area, so it is a major home coming and a rival. Team Bearss vs. Team Kaiser in a fishing derby!

Team Bearss consists of Visser, for pure means of entertainment. Big Flemmy, because – obviously. And Bearss because, well Team Bearss.

Team Kaiser – consists of Horvat, since he used to play for the Jets and Bearss and Horvat are like peas and carrots. Owen, since there is a Kaiser/Owen/Bearss connection from the Whalers days, and obviously Kaiser.

It’s a 3 day Bass fishing tournament. 5 fish are weighed per team each day. Highest total weight wins bragging rights! All proceeds goes to the Husky the Musky sick kids foundation.

TASK ONE: You’re the coach of one of the teams in the playoffs! At least you’d like to think you are. Come up with a new set of lines for one of the teams eliminated in the playoffs, and explain why you made the choices you did. Must be at least 150 words.

If I could change the lines, I’d change Texas’ lines. Duh. We’d change it to:

5 vs. 5 Forward:
Center-Left Wing-Right Wing -- Time % -- Phy -- Def -- Off
1. Jack Durden - Adam Falk - Geoffrey Allen -- 48% -- 0 -- 1 -- 4
2. Sven Karlsson - Rick James - Conklin Owen -- 43% -- 0 -- 0 -- 5
3. Beau Bent - Zanakard Abes - Vasily Horvat -- 7% -- 0 -- 1 -- 4
4. Jack Durden - Adam Falk - Geoffrey Allen -- 2% -- 0 -- 1 -- 4

5 vs. 5 Defense:
Defense-Defense -- Time % -- Phy -- Def -- Off
1. Winston Windsor - Adam Kaiser -- 40% -- 0 -- 3 -- 2
2. Cody Black - Lord Vader -- 40% -- 0 -- 3 -- 2
3. Vladimir Lidstrom - Lord Vader -- 10% -- 0 -- 3 -- 2
4. Cody Black - Winston Windsor --10% -- 0 -- 3 – 2

For the offense, we’re seeing Texas finally rely on their top two lines the majority of the games, just like every other stupid team has done for the last 5 seasons. Texas is finally willing to sell-out to win the cup. Is this what it takes these days? I guess so…. Texas unleashes their second line to get Own and Karlsson to put up nasty points, banking on the weak second pairing for most teams.

The defense gets changed from 1-2-2 to 0-3-2 on all lines because physicality sucks. Sorry, it just causes penalties. I’ve seen/managed plenty of teams that make it work without it because it really just ends up hindering the team.

Penalty kill and power play stays the same because let’s be honest, these boys are killin it. With these small tweaks, Texas shows they’re a juggernaut and steamrolls through the Wolfpack. It’s just that simple to do.

TASK TWO: Who is your choice for the unsung hero of the S36 playoffs up to this point? Must be at least 150 words and include at least two statistics in support.

The unsung hero in these playoffs is definitely Zanarkand Abes. Abes is getting 13% play time, and is averaging just 13.72 minutes per game. He’s seen a total of 137 minutes (compared to the top line who is getting 243) and he’s making it work. He has 3 goals and 4 assists in that time frame, and is a plus five to boot. He’s also third on the team for points per 20 (Abes is at 1.02), trailing only Liam Kinsler (with in an insane 4.49 with his 5 points in 13 minutes played) and Jack Durden who is at 1.07. Abes is putting up points even though he hasn’t been counted on. He’s putting up more points than Karlsson, James and Owen, and they’re on the second line getting 20 plus minutes a game. Abes is finding a way to make it work on the third line, taking advantage of weaker players.

TASK THREE: Who has the edge, New England or Texas? What (or who) will be the biggest factor for one team to triumph over the other? Must be at least 150 words.

Texas definitely has the edge in the series. Texas is getting consistent scoring from their top line in Durden, Allen and Falk, and even from their top defensive pair in Windsor and Vader. New England might look better on paper, but they played some long, high scoring games against the Chiefs that brought them to those totals. Their top line is clicking as well, so it’ll be interesting to see who puts more in the net. The biggest factor in this game will honestly come down to Texas’ second line. Owen, Karlsson and James just aren’t getting it done right now, at least in the numbers expected. They need to turn their game up a bit to bring some depth scoring into the game, as New England has a good defensive core, and might look to shut down the top line of Texas. Texas’s 2nd line will need to find a way to solve Silverwing and put down Toivo on that second defensive line pairing.

TASK EIGHT: Design the Championship Banner for the S36 Challenge Cup. Must include team logo, team name and at least one render.

TASK TWO: Who is your choice for the unsung hero of the S36 playoffs up to this point? Must be at least 150 words and include at least two statistics in support.

Zanarkard Abes has definitely broken out this post-season as he's finally showing the potential that he was touted to having at the junior level in Prince George. 7 points in 10 games is not too shabby for a defencemen and he's been on the right side of the puck at all times with a +/- rating of 5. He's found his stride in the playoff run for the Renegades as ever since joining the SHL he's been struggling with his game and trying to find a way to contribute to the team in postive way as well as find his footing in the league. He and the Renegades look to end the streak of failed playoff runs in the past with a Challenge Cup this season and he's certaintly benefited from Coach Onyx's tactics and strategies to each game as well as steady diet of Peanut better and cookies, well maybe not that but for Onyx that's he go to method of getting strong and tank looking which made him a great dog hockey player for many years.

TASK THREE: Who has the edge, New England or Texas? What (or who) will be the biggest factor for one team to triumph over the other? Must be at least 150 words.

I honestly think the grizzled veterans like Jack Durden and Geoffery Allen along with Coach Onyx with the unity he's brought along the team in the LR both in the discord and on the site talking to Allen myself. The unpredicatable of the STHS engine will come in favour the Renegades, but the Wolfpack have been here and have done that in terms of the finals being champs recently in S33 so the Challenge Cup final experience can come into fact for them with players from that Challenge Cup still being there like Raven Silverwing, Mia Landvik and Mikke Laukkannen who still have the Cup win somewhat fresh in there memories and they look to cement themselves an SHL dynatsty with two cups in three years. But I do believe it's Texas's time to win it all as with strong coaching of Onyx along with the defence rock of Geoffery Allen there's no stopping them.

TASK FOUR: The SHL is hosting a charity event including members of both teams from a series during this postseason. Describe how this teamwork event would go in a minimum of 150 words. Must include three player names from each team, the name of a charity and at least one activity.

The Crossfit Cares Foundation is holding an open Q & A Panel in Houston, TX as the ticket proceeds and auction items go to the disastrous and unfortunate events of Hurricane Harvey this past month. On one side we will have Jack Durden, Geoffery Allen along with Coach Onyx and Zanarkard Abes from the Texas Renegades and the other side we will have Mia Landvik, Dieter Dominque and Xander Green from the Wolfpack asking your question about hockey or anything in particular as our guests are comfortable with answering questions. Auction items include a personalized paw print and signed by Onyx himself, a cup picture signed by Raven Silverwing and Mia Landvik as well as signed goalie stick by Mikke Laukkanen from the Cup winning win in S33. TASK TWO: Who is your choice for the unsung hero of the S36 playoffs up to this point? Must be at least 150 words and include at least two statistics in support.

For the New England Wolfpack, rookie Brett Kennedy is my pick for the unsung hero of the S36 playoffs so far. He may not put up all the points, or have the best +/-, but he does have one of the most important things a team needs for playoffs. Grit, physicality, that sandpaper type player that goes out on the ice every shift to wear the other team down. He has 42 hits so far, only trailing behind his elders Bure and Buckner with 43 and 51, respectively. He plays with intensity every shift, and his physical play is a key part of New England's run so far. He also plays smart, only spending a total of four minutes in the penalty box the entire playoffs so far. If he can keep his play physical and clean, Kennedy will become a key part of the New England lineup, or any lineup really if he decides that he has a better opportunity elsewhere, such as the West Kendall Platoon or Seattle Riot.

TASK FOUR: The SHL is hosting a charity event including members of both teams from a series during this postseason. Describe how this teamwork event would go in a minimum of 150 words. Must include three player names from each team, the name of a charity and at least one activity.
The SHL goes anal this postseason, as the Texas Renegades and New England Wolfpack put aside their differences and team up together for a good cause, as both teams will participate in the "Anal For A Cure" foundation. Players Jasper Clayton, Raven Silverwing, and Dieter Dominique from the New England Wolfpack, and players Beau Bent, Zanarkand Abes, and Vladimir Lidstrom from the Texas Renegades will all participate in variety of events for the "Anal For A Cure" foundation, which includes the tag line "We're really anal about it". Some of the activities they will be participating in are games of cornhole with the kids, street hockey, and even a dunk tank. Recently, Raven Silverwing had this to say about the charity, "I love anal for a cure. It's great to see how involved everyone is in being anal for a cure. The best part for me has to be seeing the kids faces light up when ever we visit them." Everyone is looking forward to the team's involvement with the charity, and the foundation its self hopes everyone enjoys getting anal for a cure.

TASK SIX: The Wolfpack and the Renegades are giving the first 5000 fans in the building a random rookie card from a player on the roster! Rookie card must include one player render, player name, team name, and team logo.

Task 2
To be honest I would have the give the unsung hero award to Geoffrey Allen, he may not be the most talented forward in the game now a days but he still manages to find the back of the net. Allen has managed to put up 12 points in 10 games these playoffs so far, out of the 12 points 6 of them have been goals but one of the reasons why I would give Allen the unsung would be that out of those 6 goals 2 of them have been game tying goals you wouldn’t win the game without tying it first. If he can keep this going for the next series & yes I’m talking about an insane 21% shooting percentage I think that they will have a good chance of taking down the surging New England Wolfpack, but it is going to be a very difficult series for both teams and it will really show everyone what they are made off.

Task 3
I believe that New England has the edge going into the Finals; they have taken the momentum that they built up from the last 15 games of season and have brought it in the playoffs. Their top line has been performing like a top line should and carrying their team through the playoffs along with the New England goalie Laukkanen. The one player that has stood out to me these playoffs and needs to keep it going if New England is going to win is Bure he has tallied 8 goals and 6 assists through 12 games played. If he can keep that pace going there is no doubt in my mind that New England will take the series. It’s not just the points that Bure puts up but it the extra stats that I was looking at that wears the other team down. For a top scorer putting up 43 hits in 12 games also wears on your body but it wears his opponents down quicker.

Task 4
Before the Finals series of the playoffs are to take off a couple players from each team are participating in the 2nd annual Weaves Wings golf tournament. This year we have a couple players from the New England Wolfpack one player that I had played my jr. career with Brett Kennedy he brought his rookie counter part Xander Green & its always nice to have Patrikov Bure come back for his second year of the tournament. This year we were lucky enough to get players from the Texas Renegades also, Geoffrey Allen, Adam Kaiser & all the kids love him Lord Vader. This year the players were all stuck on the 9th tee box and set up the game called the marshmallow whack, the idea of the game is to hit the marshmallow as close as you can to the hula hoop that was set up off the tee box. It's harder than you may think, the winner in each group got a signed hat & golf ball from the player or players of the choosing. This year Weaves Wings raised $205,978 for an mental health organization.
