The Manhattan Rage was unable to make it past the first round losing to Toronto. As the off-season comes up that only means one thing. Team bonding throughout the off-season! Today is the day of the first team bonding day of the off-season and everyone is in high spirits. It’s been a while since the guys have seen a lot of the team since they either go home or go on vacation with family.  The team was staying at a hotel together for a few days to be able to spend time together and talk about how the off-season was going. As the team gathered downstairs in the lobby the players going to be spending time together are. David Vent, Alex Winters, Barret McCarthy, Peter Larson, Andrej Doskocil, Luke Thomason, Tokek Takshak, Jax Aittokallio, Herb Robert, James Dekens, David Kastrba, Goku Muerto, Craig Finley, Reginald Rove, and new prospect Phineas Gold. The first event the team was going to be participating in was going to be paintballing. The team bus came to the hotel and off the players went buzzing with excitement to shoot each other with paint.

The bus came to a stop in front of an outdoor field with paintballs fields scattered all over the place. People were walking around in full paintball gear. Full games were being played as the players stepped off the bus. McCarthy leads the group towards a field since he was the captain.  As the approached the field they came up to a supervisor and a table full of guns and gears all made in rage colors and logos.

McCarthy clapped his hands together and turned to look at the group and exclaimed “Alright this is how this to going to work. There are going to be three teams of five. The captains are going to be Vent, Kastrba, and Thomason. If the other captains could join me up here to begin picking” As he finished Vent and Kastrba joined him in front of the team.  The captains picked straws and Kastrba won and got first, Thomason second, and Vent last. The very first pick was Tokek Takshak and everyone was surprised by that pick. The second pick was Winters obviously. The two were the best of friends. Vent’s pick was up, and he chose to go with Aittokallio. The draft continued and the teams ended up as
Kastrba’s Team                                                             Thomason’s Team                                                                  Vent’s Team
Tokek Takshak                                                                                    Alex Winters                                                                               Jax Aittokallio
Herb Robert                                                                                      Phineas Gold                                                                             Andrej Doskocil
Peter Larson                                                                                     Goku Muerto                                                                               James Dekens
Barret McCarthy                                                                                 Reginald Rove                                                                               Craig Finley

As the teams where finished, the players put on the gear and got together in their groups. The teams also came up with team names for themselves. Kastrba’s team became “MSPaint.exe”. Thomason’s team became “The Kamikaze Bulls”. That leaves Vent’s team who became “Color Blind”. The first match was going to be the Bulls vs MSPaint. As the teams filed into the field strategies began to come out on both sides. As the whistle sounded chaos commenced.

Takshak instantly sprinted forwarding trying to get as close as he could to the opposing team. Gold was the first one to get out since he wasn’t as good with his aims as the big boys are. The next two outs come against the MSPaint with Larson and Takshak getting out. The balls of paint were flying with each team shooting as much as they could. The next one out would be Rove but Kastrba would soon follow him. This left Robert and McCarthy up against Thomason, Muerto, Winters, and Thomason. MSPaint would make it close but would lose both McCarthy and Robert but was able to take out Muerto, Winters, and Thomason. This left the Bulls winning their first game.

As the Bulls filed out of the field the Blind took their spot in the field to play the losers of game one. Even though the Blind had some of the older members of the Rage Vent was confident in his teams' accuracy and veteran thinking to get his team the win. The Whistle sounded and the teams took off sprinting and firing at each other. Dekens was the first one to get shot getting hit in the shoulder but the Blind was able to get two quick eliminations on Kastrba and Larson. Even with the man advantage, MSPaint was able to use the accuracy of Robert and Takshak to take out Vent, Doskocil, and Aittokallio. This left Finley in a one on two which he ended up losing as he was shot while reloading. MSPaint was able to secure the win.

MSPaint finished their two games so they were called out as the Bulls filled their spots.  It was the Kamikaze Bulls vs the Color Blind. This was actually a very quick game; the bulls used their speed and accuracy to overwhelm the defensemen and older players and took the game convincing against the Blind. This left the Color Blind eliminated and a final game between MSPaint.exe and the Kamikaze Bulls.  It’s a rematch of the very first game and the arguably best teams for this. Both teams had some of the fastest guys on the team and the most accurate players on the team. As Vent’s team got changed and cleaned up, they began to choose sides on what team was going to win. Vent had his money on Kamikaze bulls, so did Doskocil and Aittokallio. Finley and Dekens had money on MSPaint.exe. The teams took their sides getting ready to take each other out. A hush fell over the crowd as they waited in anticipation for the chaos they were about to watch.  The ref had his flag up and brought the whistle to his mouth and blew a long loud whistle and the teams took off from their sides.

Winters and Thomason were right next to each other behind a bunker trying to take out the best players of the MSPaint. Which in fact were Robert, Larson, and Kastrba. The paint was flying, and nobody seemed to be getting hit with anything.  Nobody was moving from their spots trying not to get caught out and give the other team an advantage. Rove was firing away at McCarthy when his gun jammed with paint and he was lit up by McCarthy and Takshak. Gold was trying his best to prove himself to the older guys on the team and show he had some skill. Gold was paid off for his efforts taking out Kastrba but as he celebrated to himself, he was shot in the face by Roberts. This left for the Bulls, Thomason, Winters, and Muerto. While the MSPaint had Larson, Robert and Takshak left on the field. The dynamic duo of Thomason and Winters was going strong when all of a sudden Winters took a shot to his arm and was out. Thomason was able to retaliate and took both Takshak and Larson. This only left Robert in a one on two.  However, Robert was arguably the best player in the entire tournament. Everyone was watching in anticipation to see is Roberts could pull off the comeback. Thomason and Muerto decided to try and attack Robert at the same time on two sides. Both Muerto and Thomason sprinted and began shooting at where they last saw Roberts. However, when they looked Roberts was missing! That’s when it was too late to correct themselves both Thomason and Muerto were lit up in the chest from Roberts.

MSPaint.exe had one the paintball tournament.  MSPaint tackled Roberts for his heroics and cheered for winning the tournament. The Color Blind cheered on both teams and congratulated both teams. As both teams filed out doing a handshake line, of course, everyone was in high spirits after spending an afternoon together. The whole event was an overall success with everyone having a great time and bonding closer together. The Rage thanked the paintball supervisors and the referees for their time and for letting them have the event. Before the team left, they had a team photo together all smiling cracking jokes with each other.  The team got together and headed for the bus to head back to the hotel. As they traveled back everyone was talking about the next Rage bonding day during the offseason. The next event was going to be planned by David Kastrba since Barret McCarthy had organized this one. Once at the hotel everyone went sperate ways. Some went out to go to a bar, others retired to bed to be able to get up for early flights tomorrow, and others decided to just relax in each other’s rooms and continue talking to each other.
