It's time for the second annual Manhattan Team Awards. This is still a new feature Manhattan management decided to add to. These awards range from the Most Valuable Player to the Heart of the Lockerroom.

This season the Manhattan Rage started off strong. However, the season was a long and hard fight to be able to make the playoffs. The team was successfully able to make the playoffs. In the first round, the Rage faced off against the New England Wolfpack. Unfourantly, it was not the Rage's series to win as they lost to the Wolfpack 4-2.

Roy Razin Award (Most Valuable Player)

This player was the centerpiece for the team. Without them, we would have never had been successful. They were the person the team looked to for wins and to be able to be clutch in the most important moments.

The Winner is
Luke Thomason! @"Luketd"

Thomason lead the Rage in scoring this year by a large margin. Scoring 22 goals and getting 35 assists, Thomason was one of the top centers and being 8th in points this season. Thomason was a beast on the powerplay notching 23 points while on the unit. Without Thomason's scoring ability, the Rage would not have seen the success they had this season.

Teammate and long time friend Alex Winters had this to say about Thomason "Luke does everything for us. Win a big faceoff, score a key goal, the guy is the definition of clutch. I’ve had the benefit to play with him for a while now, and I can honestly say that there isn’t a guy anywhere else that I’d rather play with on my line. He’s the best kind of guy, and he’s such a crucial part of our organization and what we’re doing here. Lucky to have him, great linemate and a great friend”

Wyatt Wolker Award (Best Defensemen)
The best defensemen award goes to the defensemen who excelled in all defensive categories as well as offensive categories. This play was the heart of the blue line leading the defense and playing a key part in locking down opposing teams!

Veteran defensemen Reginald MacIntyre said this about fellow defensemen Doskocil "Doskocil went all-out on defense. He committed completely to the bit, leading the team in hits and PIM with his aggressive checking style. Him staying back garnered him tons of shot blocks as well. In short, he put his heart and soul into the defense with some decent contributions on the attack as well."

Ace Redding Award (Best Two-Way Player)
The Ace Redding Award goes to the forward who was able to contribute offensively and defensively throughout the regular season. This player held down the defensive zone and was able to score and set up teammates in the offensive zone.

Offensively Jax was one of the top scores for the Rage. Getting 20 goals and 23 assists that added up to 43 points. Jax is a shining example of what young two way forwards should strive to be

Defensemen Barrett McCarthy had this to say about Jax "Jax just embodies what it means to be a two-way player. The guy is a machine on offense and a beast on defense. He is constantly all over the ice helping the team. Either scoring for us or blocking a shot. One can't look at the entirety of the Rage's success without seeing Aittokallio's name somewhere."

Tokek Tokshak Award (Unsung Hero)
The Tokek Tokshak award goes to the player who may not be the flashiest or gets the most points. However, they are crucial to the team. They are someone the team can rely on to play well and consistently every game.

When asked about MacIntyre, Jax Aittokallio said this "Every time I get asked about MacIntyre, I have to pause for a moment to be thankful for his commitment to the team and the work he has put in to be the foundation of this organization. Reginald has been nothing short of a legend for us and continues to build that legend daily. An unsung hero isn't just for the on-ice play where he was a rock for a very offensive line up, but for the power he has off the ice to drive the team forward, to keep spirits high and make this team into a community and this community into a family. He is the ultimate pro and has very much earned consistently this honor as the rock who doesn't get the attention he deserves."

Alex Winters Award (Prospect of the Year)

The Rage did not have a rookie this year so the award was changed to the Prospect of the year. The prospect of the year goes to a prospect who showed huge potential and drive during the season. When asked about prospect Jukka Timonen, General Manager Arnost Holub said this "You know, Jukka works hard every day. He does the little things right, first one to join last one to leave the gym. On the ice, he is a monster on both ends of the ice and is always one of the hardest working people in the league. His stamina is something that we loved as a scouting department and his Hockey IQ is one of the best in his draft class"
Jardy Buclewirth Award (110%)

This award is given to the player who shows great effort on and off the ice. They are always giving their best effort in every aspect of the game. On the ice they are pushing themselves past their limits, off the ice they are involved in everything they can and helping out any way they can.

Also, Vent got into the top 10 in shots on goal this season, a feat management and Vent did not expect. Vent also capped off the season with 24 hits and 59 shots blocked.

When asked about fellow Czech and teammate, Andrej Doskocil had this to comment "It's easy to overlook the effort of people who put in the maximum all the time, because it becomes the standard, but Vent has never dropped below 110% and continues pushing as hard as he can for his team. It's important to acknowledge this dedication and determination in a player, and he certainly deserves all the awards that he gets."

David Vent Award (Heart of the Lockerroom)
This award is given to the player who is always upbeat in the locker room. They are always friendly to everyone and always willing to listen and be there for people. Young forward Phineas Gold said this about his captain "Our captain is always there for us no matter what.  When this season was so close that we could smell the other team right behind us it was David Vent that stood up in front of us every game to set our spirits ablaze.  Without David Vent this season, the Rage might as well have been called the Tantrum."
