Henrik and Smith GMoTY in our hearts!

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

The second Award that is handed out to front offices around the league is the Joe McKeil Award for Best Coach, which is usually given to the team that is deemed to have done the most with the resources that were available to them this season. And this is who the Committee thought were those teams this year…

Atlanta Inferno Inferno @hotdog & @goldenglutes

A 9th place finish in the regular season might not look super impressive, but for a team that was only 14th in TPE and barely finished above 0.500 last season, 38 Wins this year are an impressive result.

Hamilton Steelhawks Steelhawks @Hallsy & @RotticusScott

Everyone is probably tired of seeing these guys here almost every season but you gotta hand it to Hamilton, finishing 2nd in the league while only being 11th in overall TPE is an impressive feat no matter how you look at it.

Tampa Bay Barracuda Barracuda @PremierBromanov & @hockeyiscool

Given that they ranked 2nd in TPE, Tampa’s 4th place finish isn’t particularly impressive, but the Barracuda improved significantly compared to last season. An additional 9 wins, 14 points and +54 improved goal differential despite running a largely unchanged roster is a testament to their strong coaching this season.

And the Winner of the S63 Joe McKeil Trophy for Best Coach is…

Alright time to get back to the players, and to the most prestigious Awards that honor the best in their respective positions and the league as a whole. First up, we have the John McBride Award for Best Goaltender. And your nominees are…

Cale Amundsen Argonauts @Wally

Cale Amundsen went out strong in his last season in the league, posting a 0.923 Save-Percentage, a 2.65 Goals Againt Average and 30 Wins as well as 6 Shutouts in his first and only season for the Seattle Argonauts.

Harry Carpet Stars @Carpy48

One of the best goalies of his generation and maybe ever, Harry Carpet is back for his I-don’t-even-know-how-many-th nomination. With his league-leading 0.926 Save-Percentage and a Goals Against Average of 2.67, he carried a middling North Stars team to 31 Wins and 5 Shutouts despite facing almost 2000 Shots.

Cillian Kavanagh Renegades @takethehorizon

The goalie who had the most support out of our three nominees is Cillian Kavangh of the Texas Renegades. But he made the most of this opportunity, posting 38 Wins, 7 Shutouts and a 0.924 Save-Percentage. He also was one of just two goalies who managed a GAA below 2, the only other being Hamiltons A Jobin.

And the Winner of the S63 John McBride Award for Best Goaltender is…

Next up we have the Scott Stevens Award for Best Defenseman. What else is there to say other than that it is incredibly hard to combine the offensive and defensive contributions that are required to be one of the league's best Blueliners. But these players managed it, so here are your nominees…

Gabriel Johnson Inferno @Gwdjohnson

Out of a very strong duo of Inferno Defensemen, Gabriel Johnson managed to narrowly beat out teammate Michael Withecheck for a nomination. His 47 points are a bit lower than those of his competition, but his TA/GA ratio of +20 ranks among the best in the league. Add to that his very good possession numbers and you have yourself one of the best Defensemen in the league at keeping the puck away from the opponent.

Teddy Murphy Platoon @trashae

The Platoon’s defensive duo might have been even better than the Inferno’s, but once again only one of the two players could make it in and Teddy Murphy just edged out Adam Barron this time. His 55 points and 16 goals as well as his +57 rating are all among the top-3 in the league for Defensemen and some of his possession metrics place him near the top of the league as well.

Akira Ren syndicate @Velevra

Akira Ren led all Defensemen in Scoring this season as he was the only Blueliner able to break the 60-point mark. Ren was the most offensively-minded of our nominees but that doesn’t mean that he was a defensive slouch, as his possession numbers were amongst the best in the league as well. As an interesting sidenote, Ren also managed to lead the league in shorthanded points with 5 (all assists), despite playing less than a minute per game on the penalty kill.

And the Winner of the S63 Scott Stevens Award for Best Defenseman is…

Super hyped and very humbled to take home three awards tonight. Thanks everyone that voted for me. Means a lot and I couldn’t have done it without the awesome teammates and GMs in BAP.
