Alexandre Daigle may personally consider himself a bust, but he is farm from anything being like that, from a pure scouting standpoint. He is currently a winger for the Texas Renegades .Daigle was drafted in the fourth round, selection twenty-overall by the Prince George Firebirds in the S15 SMJHL Draft. He was an underdog from the start eventually. Furthermore, in the S16 SHL draft, he was drafted in the second round, but at pick twenty-two by the West Kendall Platoon, which is even lower than he was in the SMJHL. Since then, he has proven so many teams wrong about his capabilities and they are sure upset now about overlooking Daigle. Perhaps this snubbing has been the fuel for the success he has presented in his veteran career thus far. This is our scouting report on him, focusing on his strengths, weaknesses, and his current outlook as a veteran in the league thus far.

Strengths:

Checking: An absolute monster and freak of nature when it comes to pure checking skills. If you are hit as a player by Daigle, you are going to feel it tomorrow morning when you wake up, and feel it in a very hard way. He virtually never missed when going for the hit, and once he connects, he lays the smack-down on his opponent. Very effective in removing the puck off an opponents stick and limiting their offense possessions. A very underrated and valuable skill to possess on the defensive side of the ice by some people as well.

Skating: Daigle simply has the wheels of a race-car when on the ice. He can get from one end of the ice to another in a matter of a few snaps of the finger and does so with such relative ease. This sort of works hand in hand with his checking ability, because he can zoom in on a target swiftly due to his skating skills and then lay the hammer. This also helps distract the defense at times and allow rooms for plays with his teammates to develop and ultimately be successful.

Strength: Daigle is a very strong man and has an incredibly high level of strength. Perhaps not in the elite section of the league, but still one of the more stronger players in the entire league. Very difficult to get the puck off his stick, because he can often times just shrug off the attack from the opposition. It is also certainly possible that with a little more time and effort in the gym, Daigle can enter the elite level of players when it pertains to pure strength.

Endurance: Daigle possesses a very high motor and it takes a lot of skating time on the ice in order to fully make him tired and in need of some time and rest on the bench. Not a cyborg like other players in the league, but still one of the most well conditioned players in the league, which allows him to give great effort on more plays and shifts than not.

Puck Handling: Can use his stick with the puck on it quite gracefully and pull off some of the more creative skills moves possible in hockey. This allows Daigle to often slice and dice the defensive positioning of his opponents and get the puck into the opponents area on the ice. Daigle has slow shown signs of becoming even better with puck handling, which is a scary though, because he is essentially at the elite level group of players controlling the puck, as it stands in the SHL.

Scoring: This has to be undeniably the most impressive and talented skill that Daigle possesses as a player. He can simply score from any portion of the ice and do so in a multitude of ways. His wrist shot is legendary, and can often be a blur. In fact, it is sometimes stronger than some SHL players’ slap shots (though admittedly these are players who are not so talented in scoring). Daigle also matches his talent with production, as he scored fourteen goals in fifty games for the Renegades this season.
Defense: Not only can Daigle be considered a fantastic offensive player, but his defensive game deceivers significant mention as well. He has a great grasp of where to be on the ice, as it pertains to defensive positioning against his opponent. Very focused and eyes locked on the puck of his opponents stick, which allows him to not easily be out maneuvered by puck handling tricks. His defensive prowess comes more so from knowledge of the game, as he is a seasoned veteran, but there is no denying that he has natural traits that allow him to succeed at being a phenomenal defensive player.

Good, but can still use some improvement:

Passing: Certainly a capable player maker as he has racked up assists. in the league, but based on pure talent alone, there are more dynamic passers in the SHL. Can make almost every basic pass with ease, but struggles with the more advanced passes that elite players can preform out of nowhere on the ice. Certainly has some room to improve on this, but the odds of him becoming an elite play marker anytime soon are quite slim, though certainly not impossible.

Elite Production on the Ice: Daigle has produced as a player, and actually had done so quite well; no one can refute that point. However, he did only obtain thirty-four points this season as a player, and while that is certainly respectable, it is expected that someone as seasoned as Alexandre should be gaining points a bit more on a consistent basis, in order to place himself into the elite classes of production.

Weaknesses:

Face Offs: As a winger, Daigle is not expected to be great at this, but sometimes in cases of emergency when the center is kicked out of the circle, a winger is expected to step in. Daigle cannot do this at all. He simply will more often than not win the face off, due to a lack of instinct and ability to swiftly react to the puck being dropped by the official. This skill can easily be improved over time with adequate coaching and practice, but for now it remains a weakness of Daigle’s game.

Fighting: If he gets into a fight, he will go down in a matter of seconds. Simply lacks the aggression to be a great fighter and energize his team via this method. Will never succeed at this, based on a mental, and fighting techniques, which Daigle simply has no interest in learning about.

Overall:

Daigle still remains a great two way player for the Renegades and is a veteran presence in the locker room. He can be an absolute machine at checking his opponents and putting them on the bench for awhile, but can simultaneously play a finesse game, and skate his way swiftly around the ice or score some amazing goals. His defensive games is also quite special, which simply makes him an almost complete player, though he does have some weaknesses as outlined above. He is simply a very good player with great intangibles and we are confident most teams in the SHL would gladly accept him into their squad any day of the week.

Game of Thrones Comparison: Lord Beric Dondarrion

[Image: Richard-Dormer-as-Beric-Dondarrion-light...-sword.gif]

A skilled and ruthless swordsman, Dondarrion can be dangerous at virtually any moment. He is also a leader and respected by his followers of the Brotherhood Without Banners. However, as he has gotten older and brough back to life more, his pure fighting skills becomes weaker and weaker. Daigle’s strengths and weaknesses are a pretty similar match to this seasoned lord, specifically the lack of fighting ability as a major weakness, and his ability to be a great veteran presence for his teammates.

I'm alright with the GoT comparison Smile)

Though how his character rounds out in the books I am not a fan of as I dislike a character who his action helps Tongue
