The Only Scouting Report You Need.

So, it’s the day before the S24 SHL Entry Draft and all you big shot GM’s out there are scrambling for an answer to your terrible defense OR maybe you just need a playmaker? Regardless of your team’s situation, I’ve got the answer for you!

Presenting a man who brings a whole new face to the term “Mr. Clutch” and a pretty one mind you. A man so versatile Esa couldn’t make his mind up on where to place him on the team lines. A man that can bang bodies, block shots and STILL setup godlike plays from the wing OR turn into a brickwall on the defensive pairing and snipe top-shelf-slappers from the point.

Yes, it is none other than the “Defensive Playmaker” himself, Brandon Girard.

Player Specs:

Name: Brandon Girard
Position: D
Secondary Position: LW
Born: February 25th, 1996
Shoots: Right
Jersey Number: 25
Height (ft.): 6'2"
Weight (lbs.): 205 lbs
Birthplace: Ontario, Canada
Player Type: Offensive Defenseman
Strengths: Skating, Passing, Scoring
Weakness: Strength

ON THE ICE:

On the ice, Girard plays well from anywhere and was a huge asset to the Detroit Falcon’s playoff run from start to finish. Let’s take a look at his on ice stats.

In the S23 Pre Season, Girard put out 6 points in 10 games (4G, 2A) to go just one point behind Shayne Gow for most rookie points production on the team. 3 of his 4 goals came from one game alone where Brandon got a hat trick against the St. Louis Scarecrows.

Now looking at the S23 Regular Season, the story is no different as Girard again is snubbed the best rookie player falling to the inactive Shayne Gow once more, by 3 points. In 40 games played the superstar defenseman boasted 24 points (6G, 18A), 38 hits, and surprisingly a 43% FO%.

Where we see Mr. Clutch really shine is in the Falcon’s Playoff run. In the 12 games leading up to the team winning the cup Girard finally got 8 points (3G, 5A) and scored in the final game against Vancouver which brought home the cup. Also boasting 24 hits and laying the pressure on with 42 shots on net.

OFF THE ICE:

Now to the more important aspect of this Superstar’s game, his off ice performance. When Girard isn’t at practice tucking the puck on Demko or playing a game destroying the Whalers he spends a lot of his time in the media. He is known to be a half decent writer, making legendary writeups including: The SHL Fight Night series, “Party At Girard’s” (which led to “The Wolfpack” series), The All-Star Weekend and many other greats. His bank account is well over 8 digits and would be higher if he wasn’t adicted to spending it.

Girard is a natural born leader and one day hopes to be the Falcon’s captain should he be sent back down after the S24 draft. For now he holds the locker room high, offers advice to his team mates and posts a witty reaction gif or meme now and again. He’s an outgoing standup guy, one who you’d want to represent your franchise.

Now, the question is not wether you as an SHL GM want Girard on your team, the question is how early are you willing to snag the man labelled the biggest steal of the S23 SMJHL draft. Only time will tell, see you all there at the draft tomorrow. My inbox and the comments section here are now open to any questions you may have.

Cheers
