It might have just been a poor choice on my part. It was hard for me to pick 1 hit wonders because I just don't listen to those type of bands. But Toto came into mind.

I mean really anything Mark Knopfler did is almost a solo. Almost all of Dire Straits songs are pure guitar licks. Very little rhythm.

This is true. Mark is something else live, really gives you the full range.

On an unrelated note: The Gin Blossoms founder, songwriter and lead guitarist was very "anti-corporation", so when they signed to a major record deal he started drinking heavily. It got so bad that they kicked him out for it. Eventually, he ended up killing himself because the band became very successful playing the songs he had written (Hey Jealousy, Found Out About You, etc).
