So since she made a Hockey Ultimate Team card for me, I'll be talking about Kat as my S31 draftee. I'm quite familiar with Kat since she was the starting goaltender for my SMJHL team, the Colorado Mammoths. Not only has the star Russian goalie been a force on the ice, but Rudnikova has also shown leadership qualities off the ice in the locker room. Her three biggest strengths are hand speed, reaction time, and agility, while her biggest weakness is rebound control. As of the stats on her player page, Rudnikova has these stats:
SK = Skating: 75
EN = Endurance: 75
SZ = Size: 75
AG = Agility: 75
RB = Rebound Control: 70
SC = Style Control: 84
HS = Hand Speed: 84
RT = Reaction Time: 85
PH = Puck Handling: 50
PS = Penalty Shot: 50

Pretty solid build for just a second year player. She's already had a big impact on this team, and I look forward to seeing if she will continue to have a big effect on this team in a positive way in the upcoming season(s). She can maybe work on her rebound control a little bit, and that would help her sim stats out, because you don't want to be giving out juicy rebounds left and right, but she does have that listed as one of her weaknesses, so maybe she doesn't want to work on that just yet.

Rage Rage Rage

True Rookie Rage - the Manhattan rage have several young prospects in their pipeline, but one skater stands above the rest. Right Winger Ace Redding put in an amazing effort in his SMJHL Rookie Season, and his hard work and dedication has paid off as he was able to force the Manhattan Coaches to put him in the starting lineup. The Scottish native made his way to North America and landed on the West Coast in the S30 SMJHL Draft, taken in the first round by the Vancouver Whalers. At 6'9" and 290 pounds he is an imposing presence, although he doesn't have much strength to match his body - so even though he likes to check, he isn't going to put anyone through the boards. He has some speed in his skating and a deft touch on his passes, for such a big man. With 14 goals and 25 assists in his rookie season in SMJHL, he proved he was no slouch in his offensive game. However, he also plays strong defensively, he is the epitome of a 2-way player who takes care of business in his own end and proves to be a dangerous weapon in the O-Zone. The Rage are confident he will slot into their top 6 sooner than later!

Grizzlies      S76 SMJHL DRAFT 3RD OVERALL PICK      Grizzlies

The surprise announcement that star goaltender Christoffer Björnsson would not return to the Portland Admirals a week before the SHL Entry Draft led Portland to shift gears in their scouting and target a goalie with their first pick. Young Finnish expatriate Kyle Wahlgren proved to be a more-than-adequate selection for the value of their pick. Involved, dedicated, and fiercely ambitious, over the course of this season, Wahlgren will be aiming to prove that he deserved to be the first goalie taken off the board.

Though the Scarecrows netminder is a bit on the smaller side, at 5'11" and a size of 71, he has been working hard to compensate for this weakness in his play and overcome this obstacle. One of the draft class' top TPE earners, Wahlgren has four different statistics above 80 as he sits at his juniors cap. His build is largely reflex-heavy, as he has focused on speed stats and control over endurance and specialty stats. Look for Wahlgren to make quick saves and give up few rebounds over the course of his sophomore season.

Wahlgren's conduct off-ice, however, has been questionable since he came into the spotlight in his rookie SMJHL season, given poorly concealed rumors of performance enhancing drug usage and illegitimate children with on-ice rivals. Despite this, he will be looking to move past these rumors (or facts, perhaps?) as he comes into his own as a newly-appointed member of Portland management. He has stepped into multiple additional positions, including simmer for World Juniors and fantasy manager, that demonstrate his dedication and willingness to make a name for himself in the league. The Admirals picked up one of the gems of the draft in Wahlgren, and he will be making the most of the opportunities he has been given as his season develops.

Cikgnar Konstantinov, a two-way center from Omsk, Russia, enters S31 in the unlikely position of getting immediately called up to the SHL following the Entry Draft. Following a 25-point season with Detroit in his rookie SMJHL campaign, the Buffalo Stampede selected Konstantinov with the 44th overall selection in the S31 SHL Entry Draft.

Last season, Konstantinov’s 19 assists propelled a dynamic third forward line for the Falcons. Linemates Zach Evans and Henrik Vikstrom finished the season with 28 and 21 points, respectively. With several veteran forwards earning SHL promotions from Detroit after S30, this trio appeared destined to play as the front line for the Falcons offense in S31. However, Konstantinov also received a call-up to the Stampede, where he is expected to play on the third line.

Konstantinov is a natural center, but can also play the left wing and did so for Russia in IIHF competition this offseason. While he is not a prolific scorer, his game is otherwise incredibly well-rounded, both offensively and defensively. He is always in the right position to make a smart play for his team. With more time to develop and grow as a player, Konstantinov can become a playmaking center with a 200-foot game and become a key contributor in Buffalo.

Jets Jets Jets

When the Winnipeg Jets went into the S31 Draft they looked to restock their forward corps and did just that by selecting six individually talented forwards who all have a chance to become SHL regulars. Among those prospects was Jason "Visshound" Visser, arguably the best center to go in the draft and certainly the highest ranked, being drafted at 8th overall in the first round by his team. Born and raised in Gilbert, Arizona, Jason Visser looks to bring his game to a completely different level in his second junior year with the St. Louis Scarecrows. One thing to watch when observing this player is just how good he is at getting to the dirty areas and burying the puck in the back of the net. Like some elite goal scorers in the game, he's able to score from in tight and has the hands to do so. Smokin bowls and scorin goals, that's what Visshound does and that's what he will do this season. Make no mistake, he is going to have a jolly time beating your team with a smile on his face. We'll just see if he can grow into the capable leader his coaches have always said he could be. He's going to have to stop with all that pimpin business before that happens though, but that's off the record.

The race for rookie of the season in the SMJHL came down to two rookies, Trevor Wilson and Kornel Kasparek, with about five games left in the season. Kasparek was able to shed Wilson, and take the award. For this reason, Kasparek was key part of Kelowna’s success, alongside Wilson. Kasparek is a great offensive defenseman with a knack for skating the puck up the ice and creating scoring chances for his forwards. Even though he is all about offense, he is no liability on defense. He is very weak physically, but he knows how to position himself. However, going into the draft he dropped significantly due to his arrogance. Although, this low draft has not hindered his self confidence. His cockiness has somehow earned him a $7.1M salary and a place on the Hamilton Steelhawks of the SHL.

Coming into season 31, Kasparek will be in way over his head. His “ego’s writing cheques that his body can’t cash” and this will likely be the season that he looks back on with regret at the end of his career for not going back to the Knights. The Czechoslovakia defender should draw large crowds as he will be a living highlight reel throughout the season, unfortunately he’ll be on the bad side of the highlight reel. By the end of the season TSN should have ample footage to produce a top 10 weakest defensive plays of all time, consisting only of Kasparek. Kasparek has the rare ability to make any player look better than they are, with his shoddy physique he’ll be making guys like Evgeny Yakikov look like they’re VLAD McZehrl all season long. Look for him to flop as hard as his courting of Pris this season.

Colton Hagan (<a href='index.php?showuser=2281' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-54'>CampinKiller</a>) is one of the best young power forwards in the game. I love watching him play, and I hate playing against him. After a massive 50 tpe update this week, it is easy to see where his priorities lie. His ability to distribute the puck may leave some questioning how productive he will be in the SHL as a center. However, his strengths come in the form of his ability to take the puck away (checking: and strength: 70), protect and carry it himself (puck handling and skating: 70) and make shots on net (scoring: 70). His skill set may limit his special teams time down the line, but his 5 on 5 abilities are unquestionable. Along with protecting the puck, he does not hesitate defending his teammates. With three fights in his rookie year, Colton is quickly establishing himself as a physical presence in the league and will soon be headlining more than a few highlight reals with his hits and fights.
Winnipeg drafted him 28th overall in what could be seen as the early stages of a youth movement in Winnipeg, as they drafted six forward in the S31 SHL draft. Winnipeg could be looking to Colton to be the physical presence for this team in the future. He could also be looked at as a sort of pit boss to protect the likes of Zach Evans, Jason Visser, Corey Bearss, and Niklas Flower to give them the protection they need to do their own things.

<div align="center">Rage Jason Aittokallio
#4 overall selection, first pick for Manhattan.</div>
<div align="center">[Image: sami_aittokallio_karpat.jpg]</div>

Few would deny that star goaltender Jakub Aittokallio is one of the greatest goaltenders in SHL history. Where the jury is out is on the standard bearer for his legacy: Jason Aittokallio. Although born in Edmonton during his father’s long tenure playing for the Blizzard, Aittokallio represents Finland with a dual citizenship, playing as a goaltender. Playing with the Kelowna Knights in juniors, thus far Aittokallio has had an acceptable, if unremarkable career. Both in juniors and internationally, he has regularly been firmly in the middle of the pack in terms of performance. His .886 save percentage is around average in the high-scoring juniors, as was his 2.62 goals against average.

Despite that, he posted a respectable amount of wins: 33 out of 46 games played. While he might not have stood on his head and carried his team to many wins on his own, the Knights had a strong enough team that they didn’t need that superstar performance, yet. What they needed was a reliable workhorse to take the bulk of the games, holding the fort and keeping them competitive. In this role, Aittokallio excels.

For the Manhattan Rage, who drafted Aittokallio fourth overall - a very high selection for a goaltender - attention is firmly on his untapped potential. The Rage did not spend such a high pick hoping for a solid, middle of the line goaltender - they’re looking for someone of the calibre of his father, to help bring the Rage into the Challenge Cup question year after year. Looking at where he’s at now, he might just be capable of it. At 6’3”, he has respectable size, and he plays a hybrid style. Lightning fast hands and quick reflexes mean he can stay in the play even after it looks like he should be out of position - something that doesn’t happen all that often. He’s also very good at controlling rebounds - and he’ll usually hold onto the puck, in that case, given his extremely weak puck handling.

This is where Aittokallio’s strength lies for future development: his weaknesses, things like skating and puck handling, are things that can be taught by a good goalie coach. However, twitch reflexes and good vision are more talent than they are skill, and he boasts a wealth of natural ability in those regards. In addition, his hybrid style keeps him in the play much more than his butterfly counterparts, and he doesn’t suffer from t

Let's take a look at one of the top West Kendall Platoon prospects, Latvian defenseman Kristoffer Hallfredsson.

Kris plays his junior career as a member of the Montreal Militia, where I have had a chance to work with him and get to know him as a good friend and teammate. And now we can actually be on the ice together for the first time in West Kendall.

His build is very strong so far, with a great deal of his points going to the defense stat, which is already rated 80. He has also shown wonderful prowess at staying on the ice for long shifts, many shifts, and many days in a row. His endurance is one of the highest on the Montreal back line, and that is evidenced by his extremely hard work both on and off the ice.

Hallfredsson was born in Iceland, but has lived in Latvia since he was six years old, so he declared to play for Latvia. Meaning I will also be on the ice with him there, as I am a player as well as the team Latvia GM.

I look forward to seeing defenseman Kristoffer Hallfredsson do great things in Montreal, West Kendall and on the international stage in Latvia!

With the first overall pick in the S31 SHL draft, the West Kendall Platoon picked up a sharpshooting left winger by the name of Pietra Volkova. This past season, Volkova was a critical asset in a championship Halifax Raiders team, albeit having a disappointing regular season outing. Despite her regular season, the Platoon have no doubt seen the potential in her to become a future superstar in the SHL. While Volkova might be small, her biggest strength comes from being a smooth skater who can handle the puck like the best of them. A fast, elusive player on the ice, Volkova can make start plays, get it into the zone, and bury a goal all by herself, a skill that not many players have. Don't get me wrong though, Volkova has an element of leadership that shouldn't be overlooked. She was recently named captain of the championship defending Halifax Raiders, and will look to lead the Raiders to a second championship win. Over the season, Volkova has been steadily improving and she will look to improve to an SHL level before making the jump from the SMJHL. With a hefty bank account, the West Kendall Platoon can be assured that her work ethic will be able to land her the best equipment and training on a consistent basis which will be a key factor in her becoming the SHL superstar that West Kendall knows she has the potential to be.

Secondary Position:RW
Born:11/10
Shoots:Left
Jersey Number:10
Height (ft.):6'2"
Weight (lbs.):200
Birthplace: Canada
Player Type: Two-Way Forward
StrengthsTongueassing, Defense, Puck Handle
Weakness: Checking

Corey Bearss was a solid pick up by the Winnipeg Jets in the 3rd round, 30th overall! Hard to imagine why a player of his stature lasted all the way until 30th overall but you do not here us in the Winnipeg Jets organization complaining because he has been one hell of a teammate in the locker room. He is a solid 2 way forward and his strengths include Passing, Defense and Puck Handling. His weakness is his checking. He is set for a big year in Vancouver with the Whalers in the SMJHL. Last year he put up 8 goals and 10 assists for 18 points in 50 games. This year he will look to improve that number as the Whalers are one of the favorites to win the Four Star Cup. Overall, if he keeps improving he will be one of the stars in the SHL with the Jets soon enough, Lukas Berger cannot be more happy as he needs all the firepower he can get up in Winnipeg because truth be told he had a really shitty season in Season 30. Others who were drafted with Bearss include Zach Evans, Jason Visser, Niklas Flower, and Colton Hagen. All these guys are forwards so the future is bright on forward for the Jets.
