The Prince George Firebirds Vs The St-Louis Scarecrows


If you tuned in last night to watch the Prince George Firebirds take on the Saint Louis Scarecrows, we could probably guess which team you were cheering on by this simple observation; did you watch the entire game?

If you did, then you are probably a Crows fan! And if you didn't, well it didn't end well for the Firebirds.

The Crows broke out of the gate with a commanding lead in the shot department, 10-4, but waited until the last 5 minutes of the first period to register the game's first goal. It was Weber that fed Hanley, who ripped a shot, deflected in front by Glover who records his first goal of the season. The Firebirds went on to take a penalty immediately following the goal, which resulted in Ronnie Westbrook, stoping the dump at the blue line, feeding Joe Kurczewski on the half boards who Stammer styled one timer into the back of the net! 2 zip Crows after the first.


In the 2nd, things were slow, 6-2 were the shots for the Crows, they had 2 opportunities on the powerplay, while PGF had just 1. No goals were scored, it remained 2-0.

At this point, the Crows had only allowed 6 shots on goal, which must have been incredibly frustrating for Firebirds fans. However, it only got worse in the 3rd, the Crows turned up the heat shooting 13 times, and only allowing 4 shots on Wahlgren. It took 13 minutes for the Crows to make it 3-0, when Joe Kurczewski tried a similar shot off the half boards, this time passed by Visser, but Waters made the stop, it was Landry on the doorstep to bury the rebound.

This was probably the point where most Firebirds fans turned off their TV, but if you were still watching, the Crows added one more, it was Joe Kurczewski again, this time he was sent in alone and scored on the back hand.


Ben Waters made 25 saves from 29 shots and Kyle Wahlgren had an easy night at the office, but remained perfect on the 10 shots he faced.

Joe Kurczewski is our MVP tonight, with his 2 goals and his helper, but also for his 5 shots on goal, his 2 hits and 2 shot blocks, it was a great all around night for the youngster.
