3 LOSER STARS

I don't wanna do this one.
Fuck.
I had a bad game, not a fan of it. Well let's go.

Militia Jason Forbrook - Really good game out of the almost always dependable Forbrook. 1 goal, +1, 5 shots and 2 hits in 16 minutes of work. Super impressive game. 6 minutes in the box though, and they scored on one of those opportunities. That has to be lowered.

Militia Marcos Maciel - Good game out of Maciel too. Looks like we know how to lose well. An assist, +1, a shot and a hit in 19 minutes of work. That's a successful game no matter how you cut it. Need this line on the ice more often.

Militia Thaddeus Prince - Yeah, really bad game out of Prince here. Like really bad. But FUCK did he look good while losing. Like, if you had to exemplify how to lose a game, that guy knows how to do it. I'm pretty sure someone in the audience threw her panties at him as he was pulled to the bench.

I'm done with this one.

<div align="center">Radio call of Montreal's game tying goal:</div>

Face-off in the Montreal zone after an iced puck. Wright wins the draw in the offensive zone. Passes it off to Berzins in the corner. Berzins passes it behind the net to Rossi, who centers it. Its picked off by Maciel! Passes it up to Vas in the neutral zone. Vas skates it in into the left high slot. Passes it to Forbrook, who takes the one timer. Goal! Forbrook beats Jesus Jr. with a top shelf shot over the blocker. This game is all tied up at one each.

Player Comparison: Top Line Centers

Montreal Militia: Travis Jeziak
Goals: 0, Assists: 0, Points: 0
+/-: -2
PIM:0
Shots: 0
Hits: 0
Shots Blocked: 0
Faceoffs: 20/34 (58.8%)
Ice Time: 21:11
PP Mins: 4:29
PK Mins: 4:21

vs.

Detroit Falcons: Joey Ryan
Goals: 0, Assists: 2, Points: 2
+/-: +1
PIM: 0
Shots: 1
Hits: 0
Shots Blocked: 0
Faceoffs: 12/29 (41.4%)
Ice Time: 21:19
PP Mins: 5:17
PK Mins: 4:25

Both starting centers were relied upon by their teams pretty heavily in this contest, with both logging over 21 minutes of playing time. Jeziak put in 8:50 of special teams play, split nearly evenly between PP and PK, while Ryan put up 9:42, with a minute more PP time than his counter part. It's generally accepted that top line centers will be leaned on to play big time minutes, so if there was a "contest" in that regard, they'd come out tied.

From a production standpoint, however, it's hard to argue these guys were even... Ryan went on to chip in 2 assists, both coming off the pass (rather than rebound goals put in by teammates), one a first assist, the other a second (and on the power play). The sum of that was a +1 night for the Falcon's top center. On the other hand, Jeziak put up a whole lot of... nothing. He had no stats in the important columns, other than +/-, where he was negative.

The lone bright spot for Montreal's top man? He was dominant at the face off dot, posting a 58.8% win rate, which is great, especially against the 41.1% of his counterpart. The hell of it is, if you're getting your team extra possessions, but they don't do anything with it, does it really matter? Individually, sure, Travis is the clear winner... but given that Joey made good on his team's possession, it's hard to award much credit.

Ryan's big night over the opposition in Jeziak proved to be a pivotal factor in the win for Detroit, as he dominated in nearly every statistical measure. It's not a surprise that as the center match up went, the game went.

THREE COMMENTS

Both teams had 23 shots on goal despite the score being lopsided for Detroit. Kylrad had the most SOGs with 7. Montreal slightly bested the faceoff section with 42 wins, Jeziak won the most for MTL with 20 out of 34. Nova, Jesus Jr and Kylrad won the 3 stars of the game, all for Detroit.

HIGHLIGHT REEL

Nova scores his 2nd goal of the night on Prince.

Goalie Battle:

At first sight one might think that Koskinen had a pretty good performance but once you look at the rebound statistics you can definitely see that Jesus Jr. deserves to win this goalie battle. Koskinen saved everything coming his way but just allowed too many rebounds, almost every 2nd shot he faced ended up being a rebound. Prince hab an overal awful performance in this game and is the reason why the Militia lost this game. Jesus Jr. had a very good and respectable performance. He had a nice low rebound % under 20% and only 50% of these rebounds ended up for the MIlitia in possession of the puck. Jesus Jr. is the clear winner here.
