The giveaway will only happen tonight, so be sure to be here early! Collect an item from a once in a life-time chance. Hang your Gagner skull on the wall of your loft and be the toast of all your friends!

TASK TWO: What has been the biggest game of the playoffs so far? Can be either SHL or SMHJL, 150 words.

The biggest game of the playoffs so far was the Dragons vs the Edmonton Blizzard in game 4. While the Dragons we able to start the game off with the first goal, Edmonton wasn’t giving up in the post season. The biggest part of the game was when Randy Randleman scored his second of the playoffs on the penalty kill. It gave the Dragons the lead, and the ability to play from ahead. Even though Edmonton tied it up just a minute later, that goal tied the game, instead of giving the Blizzard the game. Randy Randleman wouldn’t hang his head though and would score the overtime winner just 3 and a half minutes in the first overtime. This game set the tone for the rest of the playoffs for Calgary, who would go on to finish off the Blizzard and head on into the finals to take on the Manhattan Rage.

TASK THREE: Write a 150 word radio advert for the S32 Finals Matchup.

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Come on down to Manhattan to see one of the freshest match ups in SHL history! The Manhattan Rage host the Calgary Dragons in a best of 7 to determine the Challenge Cup Champion! The Dragons came in lucky to make the playoffs, eeking out the Texas Renegades by a tie breaker! On the other side of the coin, Manhattan was within a point of claiming the Eastern Conference, and had to go through conference champs to get to this point. Pierre-Luc Laflamme and Nicholas Pedersen will lead Calgary on the ice, as Hunter Wong tries to steal more games for the Dragons. Manhattan will be led by perennial scorer VLAD McZehrl and Kian Hamilton. Rookie sensation Jason Aittokallio will try to continue to stand on his head to take away goals from the other team. Either way, it’s going to be one hell of a series that you do NOT want to miss.

TASK FOUR: Who is your choice for MVP? Must be 150 words.

The Most Valuable Player of the year goes to Lord Pretty Flacko. While Flacko didn’t put up the most points, (that going to VLAD McZehrl) he did put up just 2 less. He posted the most goals for any player 36, 5 more than the second place person. However, even being behind by 2 points to McZehrl, Flacko was a +9 compared to McZ’s -2. Flacko also took less penalty minutes, and played a more defensive game. Both players are highly skewed due to the insane amount of time they play, but they are both so important to their teams. Without Flacko, Minnesota is not in the playoffs this season. Flacko has done more for his team than any other player. Flacko finished the season scoring 1.36 points per game, and scoring .96 points every 20 minutes he was on the ice. In the long haul, this is so important to any team. While defense wins championships, you can’t win a game with 0 goals. Flack gets the job done.

TASK ONE: Create a giveaway for a unique piece of playoff memorabilia. Can be written or graphic. If written, must be 150 words, if graphic, must include a picture of the item and the team logo.

To celebrate the new era of Aittokallio the Rage will be giving away a set of game used jerseys. One lucky fan at the first game in Manhattan will receive one of Jakub’s game used jerseys and one fan at the second Manhattan game will receive one of Jason’s game used jerseys. Both of these jerseys will be signed by either Jakub or Jason. The jerseys will be given away through a raffle come the end of the second period at their respective games. Every fan will have an equal chance to win. Although, Jakub was a member of the Blizzard, we hope that this will help some of the Blizzard fans jump off that bandwagon and get on the Rage/new Aitto bandwagon. We are excited to see all you Ragers at the game and hope that this event will be enough to give back for all the loyalty and love you have shown our players.

TASK TWO: What has been the biggest game of the playoffs so far? Can be either SHL or SMHJL, 150 words.

The biggest game of the S32 playoffs occurred in round 1 between the Wolfpack and the Chiefs. After going up 3-1 in the series, the Wolfpack decided to drop two straight and give the Chiefs a chance at eliminating the defending champs in game 7. This was going to be an exciting game for sure, fans from all over the league clambered in to watch the game, making it the most attended game of the playoffs. Only two minutes into the game the comeback kids, the Chiefs, took the league. The Chiefs continued to dominate and had produced a solid 4-0 lead after 23 minutes. At this point the game seemed over, and Chiefs loud mouth, Samee Iqbal, began spouting off incoherent chirps at the opposing team, making this game all the more heated. However this chirping just lit the fire under the Wolfpack, who decided they were done with losing to this fourth place team. They pumped in 4 unanswered goals over the next 30 minutes to tie the game at 4-4. Coming into the final minutes, with the game still up in the air, the Wolfpack added on one more to take the win at the last moment and move onto the next round.

TASK THREE: Write a 150 word radio advert for the S32 Finals Matchup.

After a full season of SHL hockey, it all comes down to two teams, the Dragons and the Rage. The Dragons have defied all expectations this playoffs, after barely sneaking in the playoffs. They have conquered everyone in the West and there is only one team left in their way. That one team, however, won’t be a cakewalk. The Rage have come out on top of East, coasting along on the success of their top two players. Unlike the Dragons, the Rage came into this playoffs as the second seed. They have taken down everyone in the East including the defending champion of back to back wins. This series could go either way, and it destined to be a duzey. Will Bubba Nuck be able to shut down the scoring machine that is VLAD McZehrl? Will rookie sensation, Jason Aittokallio, be able stop the Dragons high scoring offence? There is only one way to find out. Puck drop is at 12:00pm EST on Monday, January 23rd. Be there or be square.

TASK FOUR: Who is your choice for MVP? Must be 150 words.

VLAD McZehrl has had an absolutely incredible showing this playoffs, putting up both big points and big minutes. Wyatt Wolker, another Rage player, has had a great playoffs, however McZehrl gets the edge for his advantage in points. McZehrl has played almost 100 minutes more than the second highest played Rage forward, 326 compared to 234 minutes. Playing that many minutes at center would take an enormous amount of will to play through the fatigue, yet McZehrl does it and he does it well. Despite being exhausted, McZehrl leads everyone in goals and points, while also being second in assists. There is no doubt that he is the most valuable member of the Rage throughout this playoffs. Without him it is doubtful that the Rage make the finals. Assuming that McZehrl can keep up this level of performance, he is a lock for playoff MVP. However, it is possible that all this ice time begins to take its toll. If McZehrl can’t produce this finals, it would be devastating for the Rage and for his MVP chances.

Task 1 -
Make sure to come to all of the home games to support the Rage in SHL finals against Calgary Dragons to get a chance to win each puck McZehrl scores or assists with! One random rage fan will be chosen to give the puck Vlad gets a point with, as he matches up against Hunter Wong and the Dragons. This giveaway will go on for the rest of the finals so if you really want those pucks that were touched by McZehrl's stick, make sure you make it to the games. Who knows how many points he might get, but what it is worth, he has been the most valuable player on the ice, so you would not want to miss out on this once in a life time giveaway that if you are lucky enough to win, will serve as a valuable memory, as you will experience your favorite team perform in the finals.

Task 2 -
The biggest game of the SMJHL playoffs in my opinion would be game 5 of the Eastern conference final between the Halifax Raiders and the Detroit Falcons. Falcons were down 1-3 and had gotten blown out 2-6 TWICE in their last two meetings and they were to go meet the Raiders in Halifax to try and stay alive while all hope and momentum was fading away. But the Falcons came in with a vengeance led by a few of their veterans, with Joe Ryan dishing 4 assists, Nova with 3 assists and 5 blocked shots +3, Luke Atmey with the game winning goal, opening up the scoring in the third and Rossi with a career game that consisted of a rejuvenating hatrick that helped his team rise above the best regular season team, beating them 6-4, spreading grace and hope across the Detroit fan base and lockerroom. The Falcons went on to win game 6 and 7 with the confidence boost from game 5 and it is safe to say that was the turning point and the biggest game of this intense series.

Task 3 -
Its that time of the season year again where we get to see the top two teams in the league face-off against each other to determine who is worthy for a gloriously shiny cup and a place where only the best of the best get to showcase their skills and their leadership qualities. This season it will be the Manhattan Rage against the Calgary Dragons in the SHL finals.

Some say it is a surprise that both these teams made the finals given their regular season performance, but other disagree and think these two teams have always been a threat on paper and are finally clicking. Hunter Wong and Pierre-Luc Laflamme are leading the way for the Dragons while Vlad McZehrl and Jason Aittokallio will go head to head against them. Tune in to SHL Network on Monday for game 1 of the finals, a match of two storied teams you would not want to miss!

Task 4 -
Vlad McZehrl would be the clear cut MVP of this playoffs. He was my choice for regular season MVP and now hes proving why in the playoffs by leading all players in points with 8 goals and 19 points in 10 games. McZehrl plays big minutes on the Rage squad and rightfully so as he is their best forward and arguably the best player in the SHL. The Wolfpacks were the favorites for the cup but McZehrl has helped his team totally flip the script on everyone's season and playoff predictions. His +5 rating in those big minutes and 6 shots a game shows his importance and that he is the focal point of this team going forward into the finals. He is the reason why this team has gone this far as he has proven so many times the Rage can totally be a problem in this playoffs with a player of this caliber.

TASK ONE:
Interested in acquiring a Jaxson Reynolds playoff stick? Well come on down to Century Sports in Los Angeles to enter our contest. Jaxson Reynolds will draw a number from a massive bin and sign his game used stick from their first round playoff series of this season. Be sure to enter often as each day you can put a new name in the draw to have a higher chance of winning. The winner name will be drawn and contacted post-contest to come and meet Jaxson and grab their lucky stick. In addition to the stick, Jaxson will present to the winner a game worn jersey as well as tickets to the Los Angeles Panthers home opener at the start of next season. The Panthers will take on the New England Wolfpack and you will be at the game! Please bring by a food donation if you are able to as well.

TASK TWO:

The biggest game of the SHL Playoffs thus far has been the battle between the Calgary Dragons and the Edmonton Blizzard in Game #4 of their second round matchup. The Dragons went on to win 3-2 in a close game that was somewhat of a pivotal game in the SHL postseason. Dragons were led by Randy Randleman in that game as he potted the second and third goals in the contest. The third goal was an overtime thriller and put his name in Calgary history for a long time. Brett Broadway was crushed by the goal and the Dragons went on to beat the Blizzard in the series and advance to the current matchup with the Manhattan Rage. If they had lost they may not have recovered and been able to win the series in 7 over Edmonton. Game 4 is usually the most crucial of games in all series'.

TASK THREE:
The Manhattan Rage and Calgary Dragons enter the SHL Finals matchup as huge juggernauts. The Rage swept their second round matchup against the New England Wolfpack. It was about time the undeserving Wolfpack were bounced from a playoff series earlier than expected and the Rage were the ones to do it. Calgary Dragons finished off the Edmonton Blizzard in six games which didn't allow them as much time to heal and rest for this upcoming series. Both these teams have firepower and both have great goaltenders leading the way. Calgary is looking for playoff success once again and the Manhattan Rage are looking to add to their great trophy case thus far. Hunter Wong has been in the SHL forever and is still going strong, whereas the new thrown to the goaltender world in Jason Aittokallio is proving he is not a goalie to overlook. It's the veteran and the kid in a battle for the most prestigious trophy in the SHL, next!

TASK FOUR:
The clear MVP candidate in the SHL playoffs right now has to be Jason Aittokallio. His 8-1-1 record puts him in the league lead in addition to his league leading .931 save percentage at this stage in the playoffs. The most impressive part of all this is that he is just a rookie and he is leading his team through the postseason single handedly. Aittokallio boasts a solid goals against average and has also faced more shots than any other goalie this far into the postseason. Jason has allowed his team to stay in every game they've been in, even the ones where he hasn't been as stellar. Hunter Wong has performed well to this point as well, but he hasn't ran away with the MVP honour even on his own squad the Calgary Dragons. It is time for the SHL to embrace the young gun and allow him his time to shine in MVP spotlight.

TASK ONE: Create a giveaway for a unique piece of playoff memorabilia. Can be written or graphic. If written, must be 150 words, if graphic, must include a picture of the item and the team logo.

Following the Game one complete and total domination of the Manhattan Rage, Calgary GM Esa Anrikkanen decided to give away, for his charity, Chicken Parms without borders, each one of the four pucks that found its way past the Rage’s goalie. Chicken Parms without Borders is a charity that is near and dear to Esa’s heart. It’s stated goal is to bring chicken parm sandwiches to regions of the world that normally would be unable to obtain such a delicious sandwich. The amazing fans of Calgary, who themselves were without the cheesy goodness of the Chicken Parm, before Esa found his way to the organization 14 Seasons ago, has embraced their GM and his crazy idea of no person in the world should go without Chicken Parms. So when the opportunity arose after his historic game one performance, Esa leapt at the chance to bring more awareness to his charity and raise some money for those who unfortunately have not be exposed to the wonders of chicken parms.

TASK TWO: What has been the biggest game of the playoffs so far? Can be either SHL or SMHJL, 150 words.

Since Calgary so far hasn’t had to play in a game Seven in the S32 playoffs on their way to the finals. The biggest game so far, on their way to the challenge cup has to be their Game 1 7-2 total domination of the Manhattan Rage. After a Western Conference Finals that saw the Dragons top line of Esa Anrikkanen, Nicholas Pedersen, and Shane Gagner not contribute to the teams four games to two series win, that was not the case against Manhattan. With Esa, the teams GM, finding the back of the net four times, Nicholas Pedersen breaking his 6 game goaless streak, picking up a goal and two assists, and Shane Gagner contributing three helpers of his own. The statement that the team made was that despite what happened in the regular season, this Dragons team is built for the playoffs, and from the results in Game One of the Finals, they have a great shot at bringing home their third Cup in six seasons.

TASK THREE: Write a 150 word radio advert for the S32 Finals Matchup.

Hey all you Calgary Fans out there. It’s time to show your spirit and how much pride that you have in your Calgary Dragons. Game Three of the series is tonight, and were are urging you to get out there and show your support for your hometown Dragons against the hated Manhattan Rage. With the series tied up at 1 and the series coming back to Calgary for the most important game. Show your support around the city, make everyone know that the Dragons are not backing down in this fight! Be loud, be rowdy, and show that traitor Vlad McZ again that Calgary doesn’t need his sorry ass to win the Challenge Cup. Every time that mope touches the puck we want you to let him have it. Hold nothing back. Make it so that they cannot hear their own thoughts. Be the Dragon! And lets take control of this series and bring home the Challenge Cup to its rightful place in Calgary!

164 Words

TASK FOUR: Who is your choice for MVP? Must be 150 words.

My choice for MVP of the playoffs is easy. It’s the man that put the Calgary Dragons team together and gave us a chance to win our third cup in 6 seasons. Esa Anrikkanen. Esa, coming off a four goal performance in the first game of the Challenge Cup finals is leading by example. There is a reason why he was the first player to ever hit 2000 TPE, he works his ass off on his player and it shows up during the most important times. Sure he had an off series against Edmonton, which was more of a product of his line mates, i.e. Nicholas Pedersen, taking an extremely high number of shots and not finding the net on any of them during the series. Now with a clean slate, and an impressive game one 7-2 victory which saw Esa score four times, which has to be some kind of record for the finals, I feel that Esa will be carrying the Dragons the rest of the way to the Challenge Cup, and bringing home the MVP trophy in the process.

Task 2

West Kendall, FL.
Everyone thought that West Kendall were the favourites to win this series and probably the Challenge Cup. Sadly, they were ousted by the Manhattan Rage in 6 games in round one. With being down 1-2 in the series, and losing game 3 on home ice, the Platoon wanted to get back and get back strong. And boy they did that. Two minutes into the game, Vlad McZehrl scored the first goal of the game, everyone thought that the WKP will go down 3-1 in the series. But you can never count out the amazing looks of Tony Flow, the lack of skill is compensated by the amazing flow he has. The West Kendall Platoon scored four goals in a row, with Flow getting a hattrick to say a massive fuck you to the Rage. Manhattan did get two back, but Biscuit and Falk scored to end the game 6-3. This should have been a momentum changer, but WKP lost the two next games and the series. Oh well.

TASK TWO: What has been the biggest game of the playoffs so far? Can be either SHL or SMHJL, 150 words.

The biggest game this SHL playoffs has got to be game four of the New England - Manhattan series. By sweeping the back to back defending champions of the SHL the Rage have proven a lot of people wrong in terms of predictions as well as possibilities with a limited roster. The series had some close games, but game four sealed the deal and opened the minds of the entire league of the capabilities any can bring to the table. Much like how the Panthers were knocked out of the first round as president trophy winners and the Texas team before them, these shake ups help solidify the fact that the playoffs are a whole different beast.

The first two games in the series were blowout wins for the the Rage, completely against everybody's expectations. The third game was the first time they were ever losing, but they forced OT and won it. Game 4 was another OT game that took two extra periods to determine the victor. Despite New England's stacked roster, it was the Rage's depth (or lack of) that determined the fate and scored the winner from little known Chris Welch.

CALGARY.

MANHATTAN.

The hottest teams in the league face off in the season 32 championship finals as McZ and the Rage try to out-knight Bubba the dragon. One team has an amazing roster from seasons of development. One has McZ. It's a tight matchup that will likely go the distance as blood, guts, and a little bit of pee fall on the ice this week.

Both teams have won championships within the past 10 seasons, but only one will be able to claim this glorious prize. Game one starts in Calgary as the Rage travel by boat to Calgary somehow. They call them the Softpack for a reason and this season there is a very special piece of memorabilia for every enthusiastic New Englander to win: An original motivational My Little Pony coloring book that the Softpack used for teambuilding during the playoffs, complete with signatures by the players and staff. Before every game the coloring book would go to a different player who gets to pick the page and the colors he wants to use to make his very own MLP magic happen to inspire his teammates. Of course it was mandatory for everyone else to compliment the artist for his great work afterwards no matter how terrible it actually looked in order to go with the teams safe space philosophy. This way nobody gets his feelings hurt and everybody gets an ego boost, which can be crucial right before an important game, add in the famous New England group hug right before the team steps into the tunnel and you have a team that is hungry and ready to beat everyone. And you can now win a part of this unique process all for yourself!

Quote:TASK TWO: What has been the biggest game of the playoffs so far? Can be either SHL or SMHJL, 150 words.

The biggest games of the SMJHL playoffs were actually the games that were never played. Prior to this season there were some hotly debated rule changes that included cutting down the field of playoff contestants down from eight to six and eliminating half of the first playoff round in the process. For the first time in probably forever two teams would miss the SMJHL playoffs this season, while the two conference champions of the regular season got a first round bye. So why did I pick this situation as the "biggest game"? Well because the playoffs as a whole were a lot more boring this time. Two teams full of active players weren't involved at all (and also subsequently ended up being shafted by the draft lottery), while the two best teams also ended up playing significantly fewer games than they would have in the past. In a system that was advertised as being more competitive and one that rewards excellence, teams could now make the finals after just one series while a good portion of the league had to sit at home watching instead of being able to compete. So for this reason, the biggest games for me were those that weren't actually played, but that definitely should've been.

Quote:TASK FOUR: Who is your choice for MVP? Must be 150 words.

Yeah, yeah... We all hate what Manhattan is doing at the moment as it seems like they are taking advantage of a glitch in the matrix, of the fact that the sim isn't working as intended when using certain strategie. But you still gotta acknowledge that VLAD McZehrl likely is the MVP of these playoffs, even though his team ended up getting its ass kicked in the finals. Before that however, they managed to sweep the defending Champions New England and VLAD himself ended up as the leading scorer of the playoffs. He led all players both in goals scored (9) and points (22) while also showing strong physical play and a willingness to get gritty if needed. VLAD sure is a controversial figure in the league for many, but you can't doubt that at this point in time, he is the best on-ice talent that the SHL has to offer and he proved that once again in these playoffs.

Goalie: Christoffer Bjornsson

Texas didn't make the playoffs despite fielding a roster with some very strong players, but one person you can't blame for that is goalie Christoffer Bjornsson. Bjornsson played a very solid season and was one of the better goalies in the league in wins, goals against and save percentage who just didn't get the offensive support he needed.

Defense: Friedrich Müller and Vladimir Lidstrom

Is it just me or is it weird for two of the very best defensemen this season to be on teams that missed the playoffs? Cornerstone blueliners who have seasons like the ones that Friedrich Müller and Vladimir Lidstrom just had usually carry their teams into the playoffs, but for Buffalo and Texas it just wasn't enough as both (!Wink lost out on the tiebreaker.

Forwards: Luke Fleming, Geoffrey Allen and Kristian Eriksson

Some strong physical make up the forward corps of my all-star team. Both Luke Fleming and Kristian Eriksson put up north of 40 points and also threw the body around a lot, Geoffrey Allen does not quite have that physical edge to his game but he was one of the best goalscorer in the league this year so he definitely deserves his place on the squad as well.

At the next game playoff game, no matter how long that'll take, the Winnipeg Jets will reward their fans with a signed team picture as well as the puck signed by the person who scored it for the fans who sign up. You need to signed your playoff ticket and drop it in a box and the lucky winner will receive the puck signed by the goal scorer who scored the first playoff goal at home as well as a signed team picture. It is a thank you to the fans who have been suffering without playoff hockey in Winnipeg since S27.

TASK TWO: What has been the biggest game of the playoffs so far? Can be either SHL or SMHJL, 150 words.

In my opinion the biggest game of the playoffs so far has been Game 4 between the New England Wolfpack and the Manhattan Rage. This game marked the end of NEW's puch to become back to back to back champs. They were favorites heading into this series so to be swept was a major upset. The Wolfpack lost in double overtime from a Chris Welch (who?) goal at 15:17 of the 2nd overtime period, Mikke Laukkanen and Jason Aittokalieo had a goaltending battle for the ages as they both stopped a combined 92 shots.

TASK THREE: Write a 150 word radio advert for the S32 Finals Matchup.

"He Shoots He Scoooooores" that was the last call for Manhattan game as they knocked out the two time defending champs in New England. The other call was "That does it for this anti climatic game here in Calgary, Calgary moves on to the finals after destroying the Edmonton Blizzard, 4-1." Not the same right? Oh well this sets up a very interesting match up for the S32 Championship as we have in one corner a Chicken Parmesan Loving Maniac and in the other corner we have a German who is obsessed with balls and speaking very bad english! it doesn't get much better than this folks!

TASK FOUR: Who is your choice for MVP? Must be 150 words.

My pick for playoff MVP so far is VLAD McZerhl who is scored 8 goals and assisted on 11 goals for 19 points throughout these playoff so far. He is leading the entire SHL in playoff scoring. The next highest on this list is Wyatt Wolker who is VLAD's teammate and one has to wonder if he has all these points because he plays with VLAD. Wolker has 17 points himself. Both these two make wonderful candidates and both play over 32 minutes per game so they definitely go out there every game and leave it out there. You cannot go wrong with either choice by VLAD has my vote

TASK ONE: RIOT HAMMER - Support your local SHL team by picking up a free Seattle Riot Hammer at select gates at the arena. These are great for making some noise and cheering your team on! Additionally, you can now create a riot while you cheer on the Riot!! This is a revolutionary item which can become a tradition for all Seattle fans. Here's what Seattle Riot player Jack Burton had to say on the matter, "Oh ya, the Seattle Riot Hammer! I got one of those for my kid. I've already got tons of shattered vases at home, and I hear we're supposed to bring them in to the games? I'm not sure what that's about." Yes, you heard him right. Bring all of your debris to every Seattle elimination game and if the Riot are eliminated, throw the debris onto the ice!! It's going to be fun, so come down and grab a hammer. Let's start a riot.

Task One:
Win Cara Hohenberg's Knitting! This one-time-only raffle will send one lucky fan home with a one-of-a-kind scarf hand-knit by Kelowna Knights defenseman Cara Hohenberg! Hohenberg knit this scarf while watching the conference semi-finals to see who the Knights would play. Stripes of red, white, burgundy, blue, green, black, and orange represent the Detroit Falcons, Montreal Militia, Vancouver Whalers, and Prince George Firebirds, bordered at each end of the scarf with Kelowna Knights green and gold. The Kelowna Knights went on to defeat the Prince George Firebirds in the Western Conference Finals and the Detroit Falcons in the Four Star Cup Final series in their historic back-to-back win of the Four Star Cup. Is Hohenberg's knitting lucky? It seems to have been for the Knights! Is it skillful knitting? She's a very good hockey player! Does it smell like Hohenberg was carrying it around in her hockey bag? You will have to see for yourself! The Knitting Knight has announced that she hopes to finally leave Kelowna, this is your last opportunity for a shot at this unique and unusual memento of her time on the Knights!

Task Two:
The biggest game of the SMJHL was the Detroit Falcons win over the Halifax Raiders in Game Five of the Eastern Conference Final. The Falcons were down by three in the series, having lost to the Raiders in Game One, 3-5, Game Three, 2-6, and Game Four, also 2-6. The Falcons faced elimination and an end to their season but pulled off a 6-4 victory that turned around the momentum of the series, sending them on to wins in Games Six and Seven and a place in the Four Star Cup Final against the Kelowna Knights. While the Falcons had suffered in their three losses from trailing the Raiders in shots taken and a comparatively weaker power play, in Game Five the Falcons made it work for them despite only minor improvement in either area, thanks primarily to two outstanding players, Matthew Rossi, who scored a hat trick, and Joey Ryan who contributed four assists.

Task Four:
Most valuable player of the SMJHL playoffs has to go to Sebastien Thompson of the Kelowna Knights. First and most obviously because his goaltending took the Knights to the Four Star Cup, and success is a pretty good indicator of value. But secondarily to acknowledge his phenomenal three shutouts in ten games, his second-overall save percentage, and elite goals against average. Some people might argue that offense is ultimately more critical than defense and would suggest Cory Knouse, who led the Knights in scoring and assists with four goals and a 1.4 point-a-game pace overall. However, like they say, the best offense is a strong defense, and Thompson's big crucial saves in the final games especially justify his selection as MVP. Who can forget that last stop after Detroit pulled Anderson, or his save shortly earlier on a shot from Joe Gray. That heroic goaltending enabled a brisk and straightforward end to a great series.
