Eliminated teams automatically get 1 & 2 OA picks, so it's not much of a difference between the winner of the series. Maybe more lotto balls like DT suggested instead next year? :shrug:

Actually it's even worse than that.. The loser of the series is entered into the lotto, with a large number of balls, but they could still fall in the draft lotto.

Not every draft is amazing like last but they can get good. Players possibly can still get good players at 2nd or 3rd overall but first overall should be for the worst team regardless of what the GM is planning. Raiders were about 10 points behind a Whalers team that is insanely active and updating.. does that not make them the team more in favor of the idea of tanking?
The draft should have a regular lottery with bottom 3 teams getting more balls imo

Which is why the concept that we need extra safeguards to prevent tanking is silly.
Especially when the previous playoff format removed that incentive completely with the fact anyone can make a playoff run without needing to load up or tank to get stars.
Talk about making things overly complicated.
