S34 Championship Week
#46

TASK ONE:

TASK TWO:
Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the New England Wolfpack and the Manhattan Rage has been one of the biggest games of the playoff so far! The Wolfpack are the defending champions and were heavy favorites once again going into the playoffs. The Rage had just come off a sweep in the first round against the Minnesota Chiefs and wanted to have a good first outing against the dominant Wolfpack. During the game, Kian Hamilton was able to open up the scoring in the first period to give the Rage a great start. The Rage continued to dominate however fell 2-1 heading into the 3rd period. They managed to force the game to Overtime where Ace Redding would win it for the Rage! This huge win gave the Rage the confidence they needed to sweep to Wolfpack. While it wasn’t an easy series, the Rage were resilient and won 2 more games in Overtime in the same fashion to propel them to the finals.

TASK FOUR:
Headed into the SHL Challenge Cup Finals, many players have had a great playoffs! One player who has put himself in the Playoff MVP contention is Kian Hamilton of the Manhattan Rage. The Rage have swept the first two rounds of the playoffs (including an impressive showing against the defending champions the New England Wolfpack. This wouldn’t have been possible with Kian Hamilton. Hamilton has an insane 15 points in 8 games which is tied for the team lead. In addition to his 7 goals and 8 assists (1.31 points per 20 minutes), Hamilton also leads his team in plus / minus with a plus 8. He hasn’t shied away from taking the body either and has 15 hits. He has also been rock solid in the faceoff dot winning over 53% of his draws. If the rage win the cup, it wlll be a tough choice for MVP. While many may easily jump to McZehrl, I think Hamilton really deserves it.

TASK FIVE:
When Luke Atmey stepped in front of the media right before the start of the S34 Challenge Cup, he was of course wearing his world famous cape. The cape, in typical Luke Atmey fashion was a bright hot pink with gold trim that went all the way down to Atmey’s ankles. Dead center on the back of the cape is a giant picture of Atmey’s face. On the cape, Atmey beams from ear to ear while wearing a pair of oversized black aviators. Lastly at the bottom of the cape, large golden cursive letters read: “Luke Atmey – The Greatest Player Ever.”

Task One

Come at Jet Blue Airways Arena at Moetown as tonight the Falcons are looking to finish off their series against their rival the Montreal Militias. We will have a party outside of the arena and everyone is free to join the party. There will be a ton foods for everyone and free beer for all the falcons. We will also have old legends falcons players such as Terrence Nova, Kyle Kylrad, Luke Atmey, Kaapo Kekkonen and more. Before the game, the players will be there to sign an autograph and giveaway their jersey and hockey sticks. They won’t be there for long time because they have to focus on their game but if you earlier than anyone, you will have the chance to meet everyone and even the GM will be there. So bring your family and your friends with you for the event and I will promised it will be a day to remember for falcons fans. (158 words)

Task Two

The biggest game of the playoffs so far it's game 6 between the Falcons against the Militias. Last season, we weren't that strong but we were able to fight against Montreal. The series was tight as we went to game 7. But unfortunately, we got outplayed during that game and it's was very sad for us to lose against our rival. We didn't take this well and we didn't talked much eachother after the series. But we came back strong next season and we facing them in the second round of the playoffs. We are leading the series 3-2 and we are at Moetown. If we win this game, we are going to the final. And we freaking got crushed in the first two periods. After the second period, I thought it's going to be a repeat of last season. But somehow we came back from a 3-1 deficit and we able to go in overtime where Noro Wozy was able to beat all the defenders and pass it to Starkonov for an one-timer goal. It was the best game for falcon's fans. (183 words)

Task Four

When you look at the stats, it’s easy to say who the MVP was this season. Vlad McZerhl played his best season and probably the best we’ve seen since a decade. He broke the record setting season that Theo Kane had just one year ago with 38 goals and 41 assists for 79 points. He was also one of the best in shooting percentage with 13.82%. Those numbers are amazing but more importantly, he led his team to the playoffs. Last year, he wasn’t playing at his best and at the end, they lost to Buffalo and didn’t qualify for the playoffs. Now, with the new record, he was able to bring his team to the playoffs. In the playoffs, he played the same way he was during the regular season and Manhattan swept the #1 team in the league and won the Challenge Cup this season. His achievement proved why he should earn the trophy.

Task Five

Like always, I wear my Moetown cape. A close friend of mine gave me this cape before the SMJHL playoffs. He told me that it will bring me luck for the playoffs and it worked. Detroit ended up winning the Four Star Cup and we were not the favorite to win the playoffs. The cape is all red with gold around the cape. The falcon logo has the face of Moe and it has a shiny golden effect on it. I also used for my friend Creller. He’s a legend for the Detroit Falcons and the fans wants to see him win before he retired and it worked! (108 words)

Giveaway: Jason Aittokallio ‘Legacy’ Card - Task One

Jason Aittokallio may have the weight of the world on his shoulders for the first time in his young career, but it isn’t anything new to his legacy. His father, Jakub, was a repeat Challenge Cup champion and MVP that carried his own team, the Edmonton Blizzard, to consistent success across many long years. Now, every thirty-fourth member in attendance will receive the Jason Aittokallio ‘Legacy’ Card, featuring the Manhattan starting goaltender on one side, with his father Jakub on the back. Their career regular season and playoff stats are included on each side, along with a brief snippet about each.

An even more select group in the audience will receive a special edition version of the Legacy card, which comes with a booklet including a description of the bulk of Jason Aittokallio’s career up until this point, including his time in the minors. In addition, the special edition will feature different pictures on it -- Jakub Aittokallio raising the Challenge Cup in his final season as Edmonton’s uncontested starting netminder, and Jason Aittokallio’s draft picture. Given the rarity of this card, it will likely market for a much higher price -- but why sell a collectible like this?

Muller Breaks the Curse - Task Three

Friedrich Muller winds up for a slapshot along the blue-line, in the heat of overtime. The puck rolls over the line, and the Edmonton Blizzard triumph over the West Kendall Platoon. The Blizzard bench clears and players flood to a celebrating Muller: his goal was the one that won the game. The one that won the cup.

The commercial rewinds -- the puck flies back out of the net, to Muller’s stick. The play retreats from the West Kendall zone. Muller hasn’t taken his shot yet -- he hasn’t even received the pass yet. The screen fades to black and text appears.

“What if Muller hadn’t taken his shot?’

There’s another pause, and Muller is shown scoring his goal all over again, ending his Challenge Cup drought and silencing those who declared him to be a cursed player, incapable of winning a championship -- ending the curse off of his own stick, in a storybook ending to a storybook series. This time, the text appears in Edmonton Blizzard blue over white.

“Heroes will emerge. Curses will be broken. History will be made.”

MVP: Mark Harter - Task Four

There is no doubt that the offensive performances of players such as VLAD McZehrl, Kian Hamilton, Ray Pejonis and Marc-Andre Malkin are all worthy of praise. McZehrl has continued to prove himself as one of the top two or three scorers in the league, a supporting cast built around his play-style to compliment him perfectly. Although his off-ice antics can and do garner him criticism, there is little doubt that Manhattan has manufactured a strong team, of which he is one of the key pieces. If nothing else, it’s a clinic in how to build a team -- establishing a core of talented players, and finding the right pieces to make great players even more exceptional.

However, the most important player on the team is the goaltender, and while Manhattan has established a very solid team that is performing like a ‘dream team’, the MVP of the playoffs thus far should be Mark Harter. He hasn’t been lighting up the lamp - naturally, given he’s a goaltender- but after his long career with the Toronto North Stars, infamous for their inability to win a Challenge Cup, Harter seems poised to help lift his comparatively weaker Portland team over Manhattan. With a .919 save percentage, he has been one of the best goaltenders in the playoffs -- and certainly the best remaining in the playoffs, taking nothing away from Aittokallio. Therefore, Harter should be the MVP should Portland win.

The Cape… Blanket - Task Five

The puck is going to drop tomorrow. Manhattan and Portland’s players are in full media swing. McZehrl shows up in a Berlin Bombers cape, Sarantez in a ludicrously expensive neon-silk cape courtesy of his generally massive contracts. Winston Windsor sits at home, having not made the playoffs for the first time in many, many seasons.

There will be no media for Windsor today. He wears a cape, the same as some of the flamboyant players that remain in the finals. But his cape serves a double-purpose. It’s a cape -- it’s a blanket. It’s the best thing since the snuggie. One day, he can wear it to media day as his team sits atop the league in the Challenge Cup finals once more. But today, his blue, white, and off-yellow Edmonton Comets cape serves as a blanket to keep him warm in his despair.

Task One

TASK TWO
Game 5 was easily the this finals that was the biggest game of the series. The series is tied at 2-2. The Manhattan Rage and Portland Admirals both know very well that this game is a must win - as the winner would be one win away from winning the Challenge cup... and the loser well - would be one loss away from losing the Challenge Cup. The Admirals - up 3-0 in the third period - end up choking the lead and losing this very game 4-3 in overtime. This tremendous comeback would put the Admirals on the brink of elimination - while giving the Manhattan Rage a ton of momentum from this historic comeback - and giving them two chances at beating out the Admirals. The Manhattan Rage would go on to win the series 4-2 at home in Manhattan in game 6 - proving the importance of game 5.

TASK THREE

"56 SECONDS LEFT IN THE PERIOD - MANHATTAN ON A POWERPLAY TRYING TO MAKE A HISTORIC COMEBACK FROM 3-0 DOWN. LUNDBERG STEPS INTO THE FACEOFF CIRCLE AGAINST MCZ FOR THE FACEOFF IN THE ADMIRALS ZONE. LUNDBERG WINS THE FACEOFF, RIVET PICKS IT UP AND AND FLICKS THE PUCK IN THE AIR FOR THE EMPTY NETTTT..." *McZerhl jumps and gloves down the puck to keep it in the Admirals zone* "BUT HE DOESN'T GET IT OUT OF THE ADMIRALS ZONE AND MZCEHRL HAS THE PUCK. MCZEHRL THROWS THE PUCK TO VIKINGSTOD - ONE TIMER! HARTER KICKS IT OUT BUT RIGHT ONTO SARONE'S STICK AND HE FIRES!"

"SCORES! MANHATTAN HAS COME BACK FROM 3-0 DOWN AND HAS TIED THE GAME UP WITH LESS THEN A MINUTE TO GO!"
Video winds back to Rivet's clearing attempt

Screen goes black - in white text a message appears saying "What if Rivet cleared the puck?
Screen goes black again.
History Will Be Made.

TASK ONE: Create a giveaway for a unique piece of playoff memorabilia. Can be written or graphic. If written, must be 150 words, if graphic, must include a picture of the item and the team logo.

The Minnesota Chiefs are giving away 20,000 stress balls which have been designed in the shape of the legendary Samee Iqbal’s face. It’s not surprise that they choose to design it in the shape of Samee. Despite having been given a big entry contract and basically a guarantee of a big position in the franchise for years to come, he ejected himself from the team after attempting to drop his trade value-which wasn’t that high to begin with. Although the chiefs have moved on as a franchise, the fans are going to be giving Samee a certain kind of treatment for seasons to come. Back to the product at hand though. If you need something to bash, squeeze, throw, hit, or of course, give to your dog, the Samee ball is there for you. All 20,000 will be given to season ticket holders, players, and really anyone who wants one. All that is required is you treat it like a stress ball deserves. 163 words

TASK TWO: What has been the biggest game of the playoffs so far? Can be either SHL or SMHJL, 150 words.
The biggest game of the playoffs so far was easily the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals between the New England Wolfpack and the Manhattan Rage. It was huge because the Wolfpack came into the playoffs this season as the defending champions and one of the big favorites to win the playoffs. Facing them were the Rage, who had just swept their first-round opponents, the Minnesota Chiefs, who really overperformed this season. The Rage really needed to get off to a good start against the Wolfpack if they wanted to win it. Fortunately for the Rage, Kian Hamilton was able to open up the scoring in the first period, but they ended up falling behind 2-1 by the second intermission. As we all know, the game dramatically got forces into Overtime, where the Rage would end up stealing the game. The Rage’s dramatic start to the series ended up putting them on the roll they needed to beat out the Wolfpack in the series and propel them to the finals. 171 words.

TASK FOUR: Who is your choice for the SHL 34 MVP? Must be 150 words.
MVP is an easy choice. VLAD McZehrl. Always the easy choice for SHL MVP. No one had the balls like McZ, and I don’t know if anyone ever has or ever will. 1 point shy of 80 points, McZ put up great numbers, recording 38 goals, 41 assists and 79 points. Not only that, but he managed to score a over a point for every 20 minutes he was on the ice, which is outstanding. He was amazing, like always. He brings massive offense to his team and is a player who gets 275 shots on net, while still maintaining a shooting percentage of 13.82%. Not only is he good at putting the puck on net, he is also a disciplined player, not even taking 10 penalty minutes despite dropping the gloves once this year. VLAD McZehrl is not just a fundamental player for the Rage, he is the defining player of the Rage. McZ is the Rage, and the Rage are McZ. If his team wins, he won it for them. McZ is love, McZ is life, McZ is everything. 181 words

TASK FIVE: It is media day before the drop of the puck for the S34 Challenge Cup and you are wearing a cape! Written: Describe your cape in at least a 100 words or Graphic: Design your cape!
In classic Hamalainen fashion, it wouldn’t be my cape without the trademark ham involved. Much Lady Gaga’s world famous meat dress, Eero has decided to dawn the smelly, sticky meat cape. Although I would never tell you what types of ham are involved in this beauty of a cape, one thing is for sure—it smells like victory. Not only is the cap made of ham, but there is also a string of pork sausages around my neck, and a Swiss cheese design in the shape of the Chief’s logo. I am sure this food could have fed someone in need, but I too needed this badly. 107 words.

Task One:
- Today we are giving away something truly special, it will take your breath away with the authenticity and uniqueness of this item. Never before has something like this been given away, in fact, we are breaking down walls and barriers in the giveaway world with this item. Ready to find out what we are giving away? Okay, here goes nothing: Playoff Sweat. That's right, we are giving away authentic game sweat. We took the undershirts of the players, squeezed out all the glorious sweat in all of it's amazing odor into neat little memorabilic plastic containers. Each one is marked with the respective player's sweat, so that you know who's sweat you've got. This item should be a hot one, it has so much potential, we really think it will become a staple giveaway for all teams...i mean, you can place it on your bedside table so when you wake up you can see what it will take to become great, or you can place it on your coffee table, or put it in your car, or hang it on a Christmas tree....for Playoff Sweat, the options are endless.

Task Two:
-What has been the biggest game of the SMJHL playoffs? Hmmmmm let me ponder this for a moment....what could possibly be deemed the biggest game....WAIT, I got it...GAME FUCKING SIX OF THE FINALS! Crazy thought, I know, but from where I stand, that game was the most pivotal as it is the game that determined the Four Star Cup winner, so I feel like it was a big game. Real big. The shit fucking Detroit Falcons took care of business, despite the indomitable swagtastically amazing Jimmy Wagner standing on his head all game, due to the apparent complete failure of the Scarecrows offense to even show up for the game- word is they didn't even arrive to the arena, something about motorcross and "just gonna seeeend ittt" or something, so they didn't even show up to the biggest game of the SMJHL playoffs. Detroit hoisted that cup proudly, despite the fact that they didn't have to play any defense, so I think It's safe to say there will be an asterik next to this one.

Task Four:
-WHO IS THE SHL MVP OF SEASON NUMBER THIRTY FOUR? Glad you asked. I'll start by saying that it ISN'T that ball-less shitstain in Manhattan who goes by Vlad McZehrl, or better known as "one-dimensional bob". McZehrl is a complete pussy, when this guy "hits" somebody, he is the one who falls down, he is the most one-way player of all time and that isn't an MVP. No, an MVP is someone like Luke Big Dick Fleming from the Winnipeg Jets, a guy who can drop 60+ points any given season while issuing out Chris Pronger-esque punishment in the form of 200+ hits. Guys like Fleming are the ones who are most valuable, because he plays both sides of the puck at the same level that someone like McZehrl only plays on one side of the puck, so he is doubly as effective and doubly better. Fleming is big league, he wins, and he wins alot, he puts pucks in nets and opponents into walls, you can't put a value on someone like that, he's just an all-around fucking superstar and he shits on the competition.

Task Five:
-Who wears a gotdamn cape? have you seen "The Incredibles"? All the dudes that wear capes get killed, so I feel like you want everyone to die. Not cool hombre. But I'll play along, because why the fuck not, I need TPE. My cape is the greatest of capes, it's the cape to end all motherfucking capes- when i walk buy, people stand at attention and start screaming the star-spangled banner because of how fucking awesome my cape is. Bald eagles hover above me, ready to assault anyone that would disrespect my cape. Haven't figured it out yet? It's the motherfucking American Flag, that's my cape.

TASK ONE: Create a giveaway for a unique piece of playoff memorabilia. Can be written or graphic. If written, must be 150 words, if graphic, must include a picture of the item and the team logo.

Ben Dover's Stick, why is this just an impressive memorabilia? Well, He did tie for the most power-play goals in a regular season using this stick and he becomes one of the best weapons on the power-play.It is also unusually large as Dover's is 7 foot 6 and he likes to use a long stick so he can poke the puck away often and become a strong defensive dmen. He might not be using his size to be physically but he uses his size for smarter and better wise. He's a new breed of defencemen that don't have to be physical to be successful in the Simulation Hockey League. He also scored 4 game-winning goals this past regular season, so he does score some important goals for this organization. He will have to be better next season for this team which looks to get younger than it already is sadly.

TASK TWO: What has been the biggest game of the playoffs so far? Can be either SHL or SMHJL, 150 words.

The biggest game of the season in the simulation hockey league playoffs has to be Game 3 between the Los Angles Panther and the Texas Renegades. The double overtime affair was a massive game for both teams. Panthers win they have a 3-0 stranglehold in the series, Texas also would be down in the dumps and most likely be heading towards a 1st round exit but instead of giving up when they were down 3-1 during the first 10 minutes of the first period. They rallied and came back stronger and better as they got the lead. Sadly Panthers scored a 4 goal to force overtime and Fans of both teams are now awaiting an overtime period that could mean a successful playoff round for LA or a chance to make a comeback in the series for Texas. They had to wait for 30 minutes of gameplay for the winning goal. Which Texas scored to make it 2-1 in the series. Texas would come back in the series and win in 7 games. This changed the dynamics of the post-season and if LAP won they maybe could be playing in the finals right now.

TASK FOUR: Who is your choice for the SHL 34 MVP? Must be 150 words.

Vlad McZherl, I think it's a no-brainer for this star forward to win the SHL MVP award this season. He has picked up his game to new heights and became a leader that Manhattan needed to lead them to the post-season this season and a chance to win the challenge cup this season. I think this is the most obvious choice in recent memory. What he brings to the table offensively is unmatched and any team in the league would love to have someone of his talent on their roster any day of the week. A 79 point season with 38 Goals and 48 assists is nothing to laugh at all. He has the best player this past season, no other player meant more to his team than VLAD did to the Manhattan Rage. His 6 Game Winning Goals and 5 Game Tying Goals, shows how clutch he was offensively too. He is my choice for SHL MVP for the regular season.

TASK FIVE: It is media day before the drop of the puck for the S34 Challenge Cup and you are wearing a cape! Written: Describe your cape in at least a 100 words or Graphic: Design your cape!

My cape is designed to make me run really really fast, it seems like I am flying like a steelhawk when I am wearing this on the ice, in off-season training. The Cape is designed by engineers to make sure it's the most aerodynamic thing on planet earth and I wear it with pride every day and every game. This will be a new tradition of mine so expect the cape on game days when you see him play for the Hamilton Steelhawks. Hopefully, this new item will bring me and the team success moving forward so we can become one of the best organizations in the sporting world.

TASK THREE: Write a TV ad for a "History Will Be Made" script in 150 words or more. Describe the setting and the circumstance that may never have happened. Pick a memory from your team's history, whether recent or past, it is up to you.

TASK FOUR: Easy, Brett Kennedy.

I mean, the guy has been flawless in the SHL. No turnovers, no giveaways, an infinite percentage in shooting, hasn't missed a hit, hasn't lost a faceoff, hasn't taken any time off on an SHL rink. He's what every other SHL player strives to be. The epitome of perfection.

What, you're telling me Brett Kennedy is ineligible? Are you Sh!tting me? What did Brett Kennedy do to deserve this crap? He has played perfect this season, and all he gets from this is a 'he's not on the ballot'? This is a disgrace to the game, and a reason why every member of the head office needs to be fired. Not even considering Brett Kennedy as the MVP is a god-damned joke.

Wait, what? Oh, he hasn't played a minute in the SHL? Well, which wise guy told me he was averaging 40 minutes a game and scoring 6 goals a game on the regular? I swear to god, if I ever see Jarvis again, I'll make sure he never wakes up from his impending coma.

My second choice? Well, I'd go with Mia Landvik, because something something female, and <s>something something blackmail</s>, but that's just between you and me. If I had to pick a serious MVP, it'd be Vlad McZerhl. Generational talent of his time. Now, leave me alone and let me eat my sandwich.

TASK FIVE: What, you actually want me to describe my cape? I mean, have you looked at the f***ing thing, and the shape it's in right now?

Well, first off, they ordered me one that was about 5 or 6 inches too long, so I was always stepping on the cape. It was god damn annoying, and I didn't have scissors with me. That's why it's all tattered at the bottom. I ain't gonna wear a cape if I'm stepping on it by simply walking.

Secondly, you might see the odd mustard stain on it. That I can explain, and it was a bad trip to Subway. The sub 'expert' put too much mustard, and I made the mistake of saying 'throw some mayo on it, too', and all of a sudden I take one bite, and the that mayo mustard sauce combination shoots out like a good night at the club. It was an absolute disaster I decided to half-ass on. I mean, I don't like wearing a cape, but if it's for ten bucks, I'll f***in' do it. If money's on the line, you bet your ass I'll wear women's clothing.

Oh, yeah, and it's blue and red and has an 'S' on it. Some people told me it's supposed to mean 'hope' or something, and I don't completely get it. I thought it meant 'Solberg'.

The biggest game is yet to be played, the biggest game will be the first elimination game! But that wont be as biggest as the next possible elimination game, now will it! As I said without pending doom to one franchise or another neither team nor fan will have the excitement that will live with them until they die! It will be the game that heads to triple OT, home team down in the series by 1, player, officials and fans alike exhausted but running on pure adrenaline. All those engaged as if it were life or death, each decision could seal the fate!

Or they could live another day, make it to that next elimination game and turn the tide on their opponents! Take it to them, fight with everything they have! FIGHT FOR THEIR VERY EXISTENCE! THE CUP! ONE GAME AWAY! ONE SHOT! ONE GOAL! NO? A SAVE!!!! A SAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A FUCKING SAVE BY HARTER TO WIN IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOIST THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ENTER SACRED GROUND AND WALK AMONGST THE GREATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhh to be a hockey player! Wink

My choice for S34 playoff MVP is, assuming I can use this as a answer. Tanner, Tanner is the reason Portland is even in the playoffs, let alone the finals. And no i am not talking about his player and TBH I dont know his players name. But the man, Tanner, that is the real MVP. Any truly knowledgeable member of the SHL will agree, Cups are won during line submission, not total team TPE, not so and so's huge TPE ego, not playing 50 minutes a fucking game. Cups are won by the man behind the team submitting and adjusting lines.

With out Tanner, Portland would be looking at another, 12 or whatever. Sad amount of seasons in a row Portland missed the post season. Tanner one a cup with a 600TPE number one D man, the man can take any sorry sack and make them a champion. And no Esa he is not the only GM who I feel that way about :D But fuck yeah he deserves the award, although its not possible on those grounds.

My Cape is made out of hockey bag's, it attaches around my neck with <a href='index.php?showuser=589' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>JPL</a> 's jockstrap. I utilize the pockets of the bags I used to make my Cape. These pockets are wonderful, they are so great, I have my very own man capepurse! But the best thing is that these are no ordinary bags in which its crafted out of. Each piece of my cape comes from a hockey bag in which I used during a serious hockey let down. TWO PIECES are from back to back cup faliulers in Detroit. Twice we reached the promised land and twice I could not help my team enough to succeed. The last piece i will tell you about was from a devastating finals lose to NEW in the S33 playoffs. That was the very first time I failed during a finals appearance in my SHL career, I didnt take it well.
