S39 PT #1 - Kickoff

Considering we won the Four Star Cup last year, it would be pretty hard for the Prince George Firebirds to be an improve team this year. We lost all lot of players going into this year who graduated to the SHL and we won’t have any rookie to replace them because of the trade we made to improve our team last year.

For the forward, we lost playoffs MVP Dionýz Vyskoč, SMJHL goal scoring leader in the regular season Blåbär Bananerström. We also lost cap forwards Wolf Von Hammersmark, Alexander Zajac and Daedric Heikennin. However, we will still have a pretty good top 6 with Mikhail Lokitonov and Kyler Gill reaching the cap and Paddy Kane-Rielly who was last season points leader in the regular season. The three second year players who will complete the top 6 also had a great progression from last year. However, the bottom 6 is going to be a lot weaker than last season when we were able to dress players who all had at least 200 TPE. This year, they are all under this number.

On defense, with the loss of John Grossman Jr. and Maurice Picard, we only have one active defenseman left in Mikhail Petrikov, which means that we regress a lot on this side of the game, but our style of play depends mostly on the forward anyway.

Between the pipes, we will still be really strong with our first goaltender from most of last season Tommy Tuck coming back. Since Tuck also reach the cap of 350 TPE, we should still be one of the teams with top goaltending this year.

Globally, we will be weaker than last year, but I still think we will manage to get a playoff spot and from there, anything could happen.

This offseason San Francisco Pride mainly focused on extending their Season 38 President Trophy winning squads core. Though, one big change this offseason for the Pride is the loss of Marc-Andre Malkin on the blue line. Malkin left a 33 point producing hole in San Francisco’s top 4 defensive pairings which many hope rookie Jack Tanner, up from the Montreal Militia, can fill. Unable to draw a top free agent defenseman in the offseason, Tanner slots in to the top four immediately and will have to learn the quicker pace of the big leagues quick.

Another change the S38 Joe McKeil (Best Coach) Award winners made is moving sophomore Joseph Lombardi to the top line with Pride veterans Captain Kelly Rivet and Alternate Captain Geronimo Otto. He’ll be swapping places with the regressing Damien Wert, who many believe is playing his last year and put up 41 points last season. Lombardi put up 22 points in his rookie campaign. The Pride hope Lombardi flourishes up top, avoiding a dreaded “sophomore slump”.

The Texas Renegades went through some pretty major changes in the off season. The biggest loss for the team was by way of retirement of Cody Black as far as personnel go. Black, a 1200 TPE defender, was holding a big role on the back end for the team. As a defensive defender, he was a great pairing for the offensive minded Vader. His loss was mitigated some by the acquisition of Ty Justice via trade, a 900 TPE defender who is still improving gradually, and not in regression like much of the Renegade core players. Justice will take on that big role, and if he performs well, it would be a huge win for the Rene's.

There were are a few other notable players added to the Texas roster, as well. First, the decision from Stamkos Jr. to sign in free agency with the Black and Silver was a big addition. Stamkos himself brings a lot of skill to the team (1 point in 2 games), playing in the top 6- but he also is allowing young Colton Hagan to play against 3rd line competition, where I think he can really leverage his skills to give us a nice advantage. The return of Conklin Owen from a season long suspension will also bode well for the Renegades, giving them a bona fide shoot first sniper on the top line again (2 points in 2 games, 93 points in the previous 2 seasons), which should boost their scoring. So, they added scorers to the top 6, and pushed down a great young PF into the 3rd line as well.

Some of the biggest factors in the Renegade offseason were the players who decided to stick around. Keeping Jack Durden and Sven Karlsson in the fold were huge for the Renegades, it allowed them to build their forward depth, rather than leaving us scrambling to fill really big holes that they would have left behind.

The culmination of that should be a positive gain for the Texas organization. While it's true that they are in regression, with active older players, the affect should be somewhat mitigated. The addition of the aforementioned pieces should more than make up for any thing lost to the age of the core. Texas has really given themselves something to build on for the future with these moves, too.

The Halifax Raiders geared up for the draft adding some of the highest rated prospects in the SMJHL draft. However not really much has changed since the last season ended. Besides additions like Essellemm, McGregor and Kalju, the Raiders kept most of their core intact. Wisely relying on homegrown talent instead of trading off an abundance of picks just to try and go deep in the playoffs. With GM's 44 and Shmurph stepping up to the plate and promising that they would never destroy a teams future for three or more seasons for one good run proves that they are a wise and well thought out GM tandem. However getting back to the point, Halifax did not see much change. Relying on players like Higgins, Kostoyvskly, Gruber, Berger amd Johnson, just to name a few, to gradually improve and looking back at the history of the SMJHL this strategy worked. Just for example Raiders and Mammoths both won back when they first started as a franchises. The Raiders this season is taking a step in the right direction and will ultimately gear up for a great playoff run, unlike last season where they were bottom feeders. Higgins have decided that he will step up defensively working on his defensive abilities and checking abilities which could help the team with gaining possession of the puck when needed. All in all, the Raiders are on the right path to the Four Star Cup.

Last season we came just 2 games shy of winning the challenge cup championship. This season's team will have the same players but there are some changes in the locker room and in the line up to be aware of. Joe, TDZ and Izzy have been named captains which is the first change to the leadership group in many seasons. With in the line up we have Boychuck and Augustus switching spots. Boychuk moves down to our 2nd line and Roman moves up to the top unit. i am moving up to the 2nd line with PLL. Randelman and Nicolas Pederson has moved off of the top line this season which is a very big change in the line up, Both have been moved to the 2nd line. I believe this is the first time that both of them have been off of the first line in maybe 10 seasons. In our 1st game Forsberg and Anrikkanen replaced them on line 1 but im not sure if that is permanent.

The big thing this offseason, was the departure of that player who went to Winnipeg in free agency. If I could recall his name, I would mention him, but he was a bit forgettable and not all that missed.

I would go back to our locker room, where the Cup sits, not in Winnipeg, which was a smrt choice of a place to move to, getting paid in Canadian currency and living in what league legend Syckez, refers to as "A frozen shithole", and look on the list of players that were etched on there for the Season 38 Championship, but it seems that a name has been scratched off and everyone is accounted for that was part of the team, so I haven't a clue.

Anyway, the player scored some goals and assists, and was easily replaced via free agency, with a hungry driven team first player who will bring the Rage continued success.

Mammoths

After a rocky finish to last year for the Colorado Mammoths, the offseason was like an oasis in the middle of a parched desert when considering the future success of the franchise. Everyone was aware of what we had given up on route to beginning the rebuild, but acknowledged that it was a step in the right direction for ensuring that we would fast track our way to being competitive, rather than continuing as a middling playoff bubble team.

Beyond making some smart acquisitions at the draft, such as in the form of current backup and future starting goaltender, Grim Wastlund, or future stalwart defenceman Luuk Kraajikamp, the Mammoths development team has done an exceptional job of aiding in the growth of returning players such as Gary Grease or Dean Youngblood, and helping them along their expected trajectory of being key contributors within the SMJHL, and eventually the SHL. These changes are particularly critical coming off a year where the Mammoths defensive game had tremendous holes within it, and it was necessary to focus on the defensive end of the game, in order to relieve some of the pressure faced by our scoring threats.

What is clear, is that there is a different atmosphere in the locker room that makes it clear that this team believes that it can contend immediately. The amount of pride in the room will not allow a lack of success for two straight seasons, and there's an entire team of young, hungry talent ready to come flying out of the gate to start the year off successfully.

Off-season for Edmonton was actually very great. Aumeisters even have a chance to qualify after 7 seasons to Play-Offs and that's a miracle.

Edmonton in off-season get new players and did great job for this season. We get left winger Cory Knouse who made his debut in league only in S32 and he is already with 1300 TPE. Plus, we get nice defenseman from Russia - Viatcheslav Orlov. Made his debut on SHL in S30 and have almost 1600 TPE. We have new goalie too - Michael McFadden with almost 1700 TPE. After this off-season, Edmonton actually have plus minus normal roster and have a lot of chances to finally qualify Play-Offs.

Edmonton changed team build too - now Edmonton play with a lot of new players, cause we had a lot of draft picks and now we can give a lot of play time to new players. So - actually Edmonton changed almost all. We only kept players and took a lot from SMJHL up to SHL and did great deals with players on off-season.

Sooo... I hope that we will finally get to Play-Offs cause before I make retirment post for my player, I want at least one champion title on SHL with my player.

Coming off a miracle run lat season, San Francisco took a big step back this season as they reluctantly called up infamous bust Jack Tanner and slotted him onto their 2nd pairing and 2nd power play unit. A third line scrubbo for the Montreal Militia, Tanner's career has just been crippling loss after crippling loss as the Militia finished in last place in his first season, got swept in the finals in his second season, and lost in Game 7 of the semifinals in his third season to wrap up his SMJHL career. His time in the IIHF hasn't been much better, either as Ireland lost in the quarterfinals in his debut tournament, lost in the final his second tournament, missed the medal rounds this past tourney, and his World Juniors Ireland squad lost in the semifinals after dominating up until that point.

However, San Francisco management has done a great job of rebuilding the team's prospect pipeline despite having very few draft picks and that is starting to bear fruit. Between that and locking up crucial players like Geronimo Otto, Clint Eastwood, Kelly Rivet, Joe Lombardi, and Jacob Renninger to long-term deals, there is hope that the Pride will be able to continue improving in spite of Tanner.

<div align="center">The offseason of S38 has been one of great change for the Montreal Militia, with moves in the roster that could be seen as the torch being passed onto the next generation. Perhaps the two best players on the Militia's roster last season, the brothers Jack and Connor Tanner have departed the SMJHL to pursue their SHL ambitions. This was a move that the Militia will need to work hard to recover from, as it has left two big gaps on the roster that will need filling, and it will take big contributions from the younger returning players like Fredrich Koenig and Patrick Brumm Jr. The other notable roster moves of the offseason came courtesy of the SMJHL Entry Draft, including the addition of forward Rádovän Hudeč with the team's first round pick, defenseman Viktor Valentine and late round draft steal Crystal Roy, who have given the team a youthful new look and given the belief that this season could be the one that the Militia achieve their goal of winning a cup as other teams lose some of their more notable players.

This season is going to be a doozy for Texas. Last season we lost Conklin Owen to suspension, and he was lent to some KHL team for the entirety of it, so that was a huge hit. Him being here this year should definitely boost our chances of success. Instead of Jack Durden putting up goals, Durden should slide back into his spot of feeding people the puck and banking on their shot instead of his.

Losing Cody Black hurts this year, as he was a defenseman over 1000 TPE, and may have retired just a bit early in his career. He was doing super well, only to call it a day and ride off into the sunset. The acquisition of Ty Justice should fill up the hole left by Black, but not completely. It's hard to replicate a player of his talent. Even with that being said, Justice is still training and will help the team out this season.

Signing Stamkos Jr. also boosts the team, filling in the second line with a good center, giving the rookies time to grow.

The Edmonton Blizzard made the decision that it was time to end their rebuild and take the team to the playoffs. To do this they made quite a few splashes with some big trades that traded away some future capital for sure fire guys in the present. The first roster change that has most noticeably changed the roster was acquiring the elite forward Cory Knouse. Knouse is expected to immediately contribute on the first line of the Blizzard front end and hopefully allow Edmonton to make some quick strides offensively. In addition to Knouse’s impact on the field he has been another great addition to the Edmonton locker room that the entire squad is happy to have around and shoot the shit with. Activity begets activity and Knouse is just the kind of guy you want to show the young and up and coming guys the ropes.

The other major Blizzard acquisition was filling the massive hole and Goalie by making it a strength on the team and acquiring Michael McFadden. McFadden is now the most skilled player on the Blizzard roster and the team is happy to have a veteran defending our net. This move was an expensive one and forced the Blizzard to pass on long-term talent, including brother of current Blizzard member Tommy Tuck, to secure an immediate upgrade at the position .This move is sure to pay off in the short-term, but down the road it could get be looked at differently.

Overall, the Blizzard made some moves that were necessary to become a competitor today and it would no longer be surprising to see the Blizzard competing for the Cup after the regular season comes to an end this year.

Written Task: Discuss how your team changed during the course of the offseason. Do you think this offseason was a step in the right direction? Will your team be better off now, or will the path to the Challenge Cup/Four Star Cup be more difficult now? Must be 150 words and include two specific changes to your team (roster changes, build changes, etc).

First, Seattle made the bold call to trade WKP for me, Inari Twain, secret SMJHL star. I know what you're thinking, "What is going on? How could they make such a bold and daring move to change the course of the SHL for the rest of time? Isn't it bold leadership like this that sets apart the wheat from the chaff and redefines greatness forever, so much so that Webster's Dictionary will call and just ask for a picture of Microdino and his micro dinosaurs?"

It is. What every SHL team needs is a mid-tier playmaking winger with a slightly haphazard build who spends most of his time harassing his ex-Vancouver whalers teammates on discord.

THAT IS THE SPIRIT WE NEED IN SEATTLE (and the spirit hated by WKP obviously).

It's either that or Seattle is going through a major rebuild and said awwwww fuck it and wanted to get something out of it, and considering we're on what now, Seattle 7.0 we might as well get a bit silly with it.

Is that it? No one told me I just kinda went with it and started being weird in a new discord chat.

season 39 has started and the crows are ready to make a great run towards the cup like we always do. We lost a few key pieces from last season in Bobby Watson and offensive beast and are goalie johnny Yuma who always plays great but couldn't play with us in the playoffs last season because of some unfortunate events that happened. We added 3 new rookies who we hope will get updating quick and be a key piece to our hopes of winning this season in Otis B driftwood , Jack Daniels , and Chris Mczehrl. I believe to start the season we have the best overall team heading into the season and if rookies get updating I believe that we will have great odds of winning the cup. Dawegg will have to play great in net and the defense will have to step up and play great like always and me and my forwards are gonna have to keep pucks on net all night and get the dub [170 words]
