S39 Championship Week

Task 1:
Blabar Bananerstrom is pretty upset with the way the season ended as his team narrowly missed the playoffs and the team ahead of them - the New England Wolfpack - made it so he's been hard at work improving his skating and puck handling to try to ensure that something like this never happens again. That said, he did need a bit of recuperation time after the regular season so he headed back to his home country of Sweden with his Swedish friends and has been mostly relaxing to let the accumulated injuries from the season heal and watching the playoffs unfold. He's also met up with a few fellow European internationals several times to work on their game and prepare for the upcoming IIHF tournament, the name being Chernika Banananov of Russia. These training sessions have been very casual and impromptu but as a new prospect Bananerstrom does feel like he has some responsibility to prepare himself and his teammates as best as he can.

Task 2

Unsung hero is the defenseman for the Chiefs Hamalainen. Despite everyone thinking about Garbanzo on defense because of how long he has been in the league and what awards he has won, Hamalainen has been putting in the work quietly on a team that has been using his strengths very well. So well that the defenseman was able to finish the playoffs leading all defensemen in scoring, which nobody was really expecting considering he hasn't had the best of careers so far (at least as far as I have seen). That is quite the feat and despite not playing many minutes on the PK and playing only 19 minutes a night. If that doesn’t scream unsung hero to you then I do not know what does. The Chiefs ended up winning this whole thing because of this man and he will probably get a really good contract because of this. The rest of the league is going to have to watch out because this guy could be on his way to being one of the greatest. Or he could just be okay. Or he could be terrible. I am no analyst so I have no clue about this guy.

Task 4 sent

Task 6
It should be obvious who Los Angeles need to continue the magical run they have had so far in these playoffs to win. There are two players who have played their hearts out these playoffs, and they’ll need to keep doing it for the Panthers to win. The first is leading scorer Sophia Bennett. Her seven goals and 13 points lead the team, and they need her to keep that up to win. The second is the amazing Timo Haas. Enough can’t be said about his playoff performance. The he has an absurd 0.941 save percentage and 1.89 goals against average. If the Panthers win, look for one of them to be named MVP.

The Chiefs have gotten over ten points out of Terrance Nova and eight goals from Sebastian Strange. They need to keep that up and use their magic to solve Timo Haas (who will be the major blockade to their first Challenge Cup Win) to win this series. If they can’t, it will be a short one. If they can, look for one of them to get the nod as the most valuable player this playoff tournament. The only problem for these players will be the fact that there are so many good players on the Chiefs there really isn't one guy you can point to and say "hey, you are the MVP, no doubt".

TASK ONE: How has your player kicked off their offseason? Are they traveling? Meeting up with friends and partying? Following the games? Write at least 150 words about the beginning of your player’s offseason. Must include at least one other player.

Beau Bent spends his summers back home in Australia. During the season Beau works on his on ice training, almost never leaving the ice, and always working on his game and refining his skills. In the summer, when he heads back to New South Wales in Australia, he spends most of the summer working hard on dry training. The climate in Australia allows him to work his ass off each summer in terms of gaining strength, and working on his cardio. Since becoming more serious about his training, Bent has broken out, putting up 35 points and 40 points over the past two seasons. Now his regiment each summer involves going back hone, away from his friends in Texas, and that allows him to simply focus on his own skills each day. As the season draws nearer and camp starts up, he will head back to Texas and start to refine his on ice skills again and do that for the rest of the season

TASK TWO: Who is your choice for the unsung hero of the S39 playoffs up to this point? Must be at least 150 words and include at least two statistics in support.

TASK FOUR: Unscramble the names of these four players who will be competing in the Challenge Cup Finals. Send the answers to me by forum PM. Please make the subject of the message “CW Word Scramble” or something along those lines. [Grading: 1 TPE for participation, 0.5 TPE for each correct answer]

This offseason,Cameron Dubois and Spitfire got some much needed rest. Together they travelled Europe, and followed the games during a well deserved vacation. Durinhg the trip they met up with Dieter Dominique and Mia Landvik who were training for IIHF in Landvik's home country of Norway. Together the 4 of them had a wonderful time training and getting well needed rest after a long season. Later on, the four of them got a call from GM's Rainboe Dash and Toivo, and they rushed back for an emergancy meeting only to learn that it was more training, what they had been doing already. They immediately packed up and left again, probably getting put on the trade block for a solid hour while doing so. All in all a really good trip that got them some quality team bonding and much needed rest. Next season will be a bitg one for them, lets see how it goes.
