First Period

The first period was a doozy there were goals left right in center let me tell you. Kelowna started off strong Mikhail Lokitonov skated up the ice and took a quick slapper and it fooled the milititia goaltender and 36 seconds into the game The Kelowna Knights are leading 1 - 0 after the play settles down for a few minutes the faceoff is in the Knights zone and what seemed to be a harmless play anuj radja of the Montreal militia wins the faceoff to Radovon Hudec who quickly wrists a shot on the goaltender Damien Blackfyre who misses it with his glove and the puck goes in. The game is now tied 1 to 1 the play settles down a little bit but then anuj radja who has been hot this games gets in prime shooting position and snipes one top corner what a shot by anuj radja putting the Montreal militia ahead 2 to 1 later that game after 2 minutes of boring play and nothing happening anuj radja for the second time dekes around gets open and snipes it blocker side to put the militia up by a score of 3 to 1. Anuj radja is on fire this game. That’s the end of the first period

Second Period

This period is a stronger one for Kelowna as Ralchankinov loses the faceoff and Patrick Brumm jr capitalized on his chance with a quick slapper bring the Kelowna Knights one goal closer making the score 2 to 3. Then quickly straight after Montreal’s laziness with the puck Fenton Uriel of Kelowna bats one out of mid air and scores to tie the game at 3 a piece. The rest of the period is filled with players needing to get some glasses as they continue to miss the net at every chance they get

13:44 of 2nd period - Shot by Patrick Brumm Jr.
13:44 of 2nd period - Shot Misses the Net.

The Montreal militia need to step up there game if they are going to stay in this game. The shots at the end of the period are 21 for kelowna and 4 for Montreal.

Period 3

This period is tightly contested with hits being heavy and shots going back and forth between both teams until the face off is in Kelownas zone. Dayymo Ralchankinov bs Fenton Uriel. Ralchankinov wins the faceoff to radovan Hudec who slaps it with a one timer and it hits off Blackfyre a blocker and the pucks momentum has it slowly bounce into the net to make Montreal up by 1 with 3 minutes to go in the third. Kelowna pulls the goalie can they mount the Combe back or wlll Montreal give them the dagger? Radovan Hudec decided it was time for the dagger. He shoots a bottom shelf slider into kelownas net and that’s the game. Montreal wins by a score of 5 to 3. Good effort by both teams and Montreal coming out on top of this one.

GAME SUMMARY

Some things we learned this game are for sure Anuj Radja is a threat on the ice. With a 4 point game performance his upside is clearly showing. Some down side for the Kelowna Knights this game was Damien Blackfyre the goaltender. He has had a strong season this far just this game he was a bit shaken can this be means for early injury? Or did he have a shaker game. His consistency will come to question in the future. He will remain with 7 wins and 3 losses on the season. Radovan Hudec showing his goal scoring skills with the hat trick this game. Can he carry Montreal to the playoffs? It’s too early to tell but our statistics say yes. Yes he can. This game in the end was a hockey fans fav and a players fav but not so much of a fav for the goaltenders high scoring and entertaining game all around. Until next time I’m your crappy radio host damienj10 and this is TSN 69 signing off with our 3 stars of the game.

3 STARS

1. Rádovän Hudeč - 3 Goals, 0 Assists, 3 Points.

I mean, how you could you not give the first star to a man with the only hat trick in the game? Rádovän Hudeč easily comes in clutch for Montreal this game playing off well with fellow 1st liners Daniel Daniil and Dayymo Ralchankinov potting a 3 goals to lead his team to a 5-3 victory.

2. Anuj Radia - 2 Goals, 2 Assists, 4 Points.

Montreal's newly acquired forward lead the team in points tonight vs a strong Kelowna team. Potting in 4 total points on the powerplay and 2nd line. Montreal couldn't have snuck away without the victory without Anuj.

3. Fenton Uriel - 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 2 Points.

The Knights big centre tried his best tonight, but it wasn't enough. Uriel lead the defeated Knights with 2 total points, but it wasn't enough to lead them to victory.

Number 1: The first thing that stands out here is Montreal's shot efficiency. They put up 5 goals in this game and even though one was an empty netter, 5 goals on just 24 shots is a damn good way to take advantage of what opportunities you're given. So it appears that Montreal has some damn good snipers with Rádovän Hudeč getting a hat trick and Anuj Radia scoring another 2, giving them 5 and 4 goals respectively on the young 10 game season. Both players got a reasonable amount of ice time with 20 minutes and 19 minutes but only one of the goals was on the powerplay. Again the even strength goals speak to the efficiency of their shooting, picking their spots very well in this game.

Number 2. Even though Kelowna lost this game I would say a positive would have to be the play of their defense. They only allowed a total of 24 shots for the entire game while Kelowna peppered the Montreal goalie with 37. Quite a disparity in shots, with a +13 differential you would reasonably assume that Kelowna should have won this game. 4 of the Kelowna defenders played over 20 minutes during the game so they logged some pretty good minutes against the top Montreal lines and still seeemed to hold up pretty respectably all things considered. Really no reason for the Kelwona defense to hang their heads, they did put in a yoeman's effort during this game.

Number 3. The pretty overwhelming reason Kelowna lost this game was the shaky goaltending by starter Damien Blackfyre. This is pretty surprising as Blackfyre had been spectacular so far during the season, winning 7 of his first 9 games as Kelowna has gotten off to an impressive start early in the SMJHL campaign. Kelowna is counting heavily on the veteran Blackfyre as they seek to make a serious run at the cup this season and hopefully this was just a bit of fatigue because of the heavy workload so far this season. Kelowna's backup goaltender is rookie Kata Vilde, a complete unknown at this point. Kelowna may be waiting to evaluate the youngster a bit more in practice before he actually gets into smae game action. So they will continue to ride Blackfyre for the forseeable future, hoping that this dismal performance is not a symptom to come and that he will get back to the stellar play that saw him start the season at 7-2.

Comments:

1) Stopping the Power Play
Both clubs committed a pair of penalties each in this one, and both showed a similar efficiency in preventing their opponent from turning them into goals. Kelowna committed two penalties in the first period; one a slashing call on Lyndis Vakarian that was converted into a goal, the other an interference called on Romualds Loks which they were able to kill. Montreal committed their pair in the second period; one from Anuj Radia just five seconds in which was turned into a goal, and the other from Rahotep Tutankhamun which was killed. Neither team came away with the advantage here as both killed their penalties at a fifty-percent success rate.

2) Accuracy = Efficiency
As was the case in this matchup, a greater volume of shots does not necessarily equate to success. More important is taking good chances and converting them into goals. Montreal was out shot 37-25 by the Knights but were easily the winners of the efficiency battle, with a 20% efficiency as opposed to Kelowna's 8.1% rate. Even adjusting the metric for Montreal's open net goal with just six seconds left, Montreal (16.7%) were still able to double Kelowna's efficiency in this one. They can thank stars of the game Anuj Radia (2 G, 2 A) and Rádovän Hudeč (3 G) for that, as the two combined for all five of the teams scores.

3) Getting in the Way
Another category in which the Montreal Militia won the battle between the two clubs. The Militia received an outstanding ten shot blocks, getting two from each of Michael Owens, Rocky Park, and Viktor Valentine. With Kelowna taking 37 shots in the match, the Militia were able to block shots at a 27% clip. Kelowna did well in their own right here, blocking five of Montreal's 25 shots, including two from Deku Izuku. When accounting for each team's ability to block shots, the 37:25 shot ratio between Kelowna in Montreal was effectively narrowed to 27:20, a gap of just seven rather than twelve.

Ferguson Plumbing's Turd Ferguson Junior Player of the Game:

Clear winner tonight boys, as the Junior Turd deservedly goes to Montreal's Rahotep Tutankhamun who got down and did the dirty work from the Militia blue line tonight. He bodied five people, got two shots off just for kicks, and got sent to the box for Hooking (the dirty boy) deep in the third period. Montreal went on to win tonight's contest, making it a doubly satisfying game for Tutankhamun.
