<div align="center">GAME 36

COLORADO MAMMOTHS @ DETROIT FALCONS

3 - 5

Game Summary

Period 1
To open the scoring was Detroit Falcon number one center Grayson St. Raegan for his 5th goal on the season, from an assist thanks to defenseman Hypolact Asia. The play began from an offensive zone faceoff, won by Raegan. The puck would fall to Asia who'd send it back to Asia for a shot and the first goal of the game.
The scoring department stayed quiet on both sides until the 17th minute of the 3rd period, on a great breakout starter Mikkel Haugen. The pass would send Calvin Bleier on a odd man rush with Berger on his side, and the shot by Berger for a 2-0 lead, with Bergers fourth of the season. The period would wind down with Detroit leading Colorado 2-0

Period 2
The Mammoths would come out of the gate hungry to come back from this 2 goal deficit. The Mammoths would find their first goal of the game 3:56 into the 2nd period, on a neutral zone by Ti-Guy Emond, and a drop pass to Doc Digreasi, sending him on a 3 on 2. Digreasi would slide it down to Mattias Enqvist who snapped it home for his first goal of the season.
Colorado wasn't done yet, after a turn over by Detroit in their own zone that would send Manuel Gotze on a breakaway, where'd he would find the back of the net to tie the game up.
Detroit would come back on fire, with 2 goals 4 minutes apart, from Calvin Bleier and Finn McCool, which would be the end of Grim Wastlund's game. Only 18 seconds after being put in net, Chris Partridge would let in a shot from Reginald Rove, putting the Falcons up 5-2.
The Falcons would end the period up 5-2.

3rd Period
The Falcons would sit back this period and defend, and would eventually let up a goal from Baron O'Beefdip at 13:55, from Xavier LaFlamme and Gustav Helzberg. This would be the last goal Primeau would let in, and would finalize the win for the Falcons, with a 5-3 win.

3 Stars

3rd Star - Finn McCool

McCool had a fantastic game tonight. He netted what would end up being the game winning goal in the 2nd period, and finished the game with a positive 2. Without his goal, the Falcons may not have had the momentum to absolutely bury the Mammoths, which is why he deserves the 3rd star.

2nd Star - Hypolact Asia

Hypolact Asia put up 2 assists tonight against the Colorado Mammoths, one on the first goal on the game, and he setup McCool for what would end up being the game winning goal, along with 2 shot blocks. Assume the Falcons didn't have him on the ice, the game would be a whole different story.

1st Star - Calvin Bleier

The rookie had a marvelous game tonight, and really lead the Falcons to victory. He put up his first SMJHL goal which would also be the game tying goal, along with an assist on the second goal of the game. His play tonight really helped the Falcons to the win, earning him the first star of the game.

Unsung Player Of the Game
In my opinion, Sebastian Primeau is the unsung player of the game and its not even close. Primeau, despite letting 3 goals kept the Falcons in the game in all situations. He saved 9 out of 10 shots to close out the game and keep the Falcons up in the third period, and only let in 2 goals on 18 shots in the 2nd period despite Colorado's incredible pressure throughout the period. Primeau finished the game with 33 saves on 36 shots, and managed a great .917 save percentage. His spectacular performance throughout the game really allowed the Falcons to win the game.

Turning Point

The turning point of the game came during the second period, when Detroit rookie Calvin Bleier scored the go ahead goal with the score tied at 2-2. The first period and the opening minutes of the second had been back and forth, both teams were able to score twice and with the game on such a knife edge it felt like the next team to score would be the one that would eventually emerge victorious. It proved to be true, when we saw Calvin Bleier free in the slot to take receipt of a pass from Feliks Bartos, which he subsequently fired past Chris Patridge to get the Falcons' noses in front. The scoring of this goal was a turning point as it managed to put the Falcons back in a position of power after they had conceded two goals, and they would be able to hold this position and go on to win the game.

Stats Breakdown

I want to talk about something in this game that was something of a statistical anomaly, the fact that the team who won the game got totally beaten out on the face off dot by their opposition. Everyone knows how important is to win possession and be successful on the draw, but in this game the Mammoths did their job a lot better than the Falcons, with all of Detroit's centremen and main forwards winning less than half of their draws whereas the forwards on the Mammoths all won more than half of their face offs. It goes against regular hockey logic that a team that was significantly worse than their opposition at winning faceoffs was in fact not noticeably that much worse of a possession team, and were in fact able to win the game, but in this case it certainly happened. The Falcons play when they had the puck evidently made up for them struggling to take possession of it, and in the end, their poor form on the face off dot didn't sting them too hard.

Highlight Reel

The rookie Calvin Bleier with a beauty snipe on Grim Wastlund to break the deadlock in the second period and give the Falcons a 3-2 lead. They had worked hard for the advantage and the goal by Bleier was a massive moment in the game.

A bad night for Wastlund gets even worse when he can't get over the barrier and onto his teams bench after being pulled in the third period. Wastlund had let 4 goals past him and the embarrassment brought on by being unable to even leave the ice properly would have left him feeling even worse.

Reginald Rove and his team celebrate his goal, his team's fifth of the night and the moment the game was secured as the Falcons took a 3 goal lead. For a team that wasn't supposed to be a contender this season, the Falcons have made some big wins that will have caught the attention of the wider league.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Another game, another goalie comes in clutch. The player of the game for tonight's matchup between the Mammoths and the Falcons is easily Detroit's starter goalie Sebastien Primeau. Detroit's starting put up an impressive 0.917 while playing every single minute of this close game. He also saved a lot of shots tonight. Primeau face a total of 36 shots and saved 36 of them. On top of this, Primeau didn't let a single shot go past him while the Mammoths were on the powerplay. Primeau came in clutch and helped the Falcons secure the win tonight in a very important game.

Ferguson Plumbing's Turd Ferguson Junior Player of the Game:

Often a combination of statistics goes into the very laborious and considered awarding of the extremely exclusive honor that is the Junior Turd of the game, but every now and then a young man's performance on ice is so remarkable that you know before well before the end of the third period who the winner will be: and just so with Grayson St. Raegan during this meeting of the minds betwixt Colorado and Detroit. A trip to the bin for tripping in the first, followed by helming the opening goal; a return for slashing in the second, and when that wasn't enough, picking up a point again on an assist to put Detroit up 4-2. Things got a little dicey in the third, and Grayson got repremanded once more for roughing after Baron O'Beefdip refused to drop the gloves like a little bitch despite having balls to mouth off in a way that got St. Raegan's blood up. A commanding performance by St. Raegan, and for it, he goes home with a little something extra in his trophy cabinet.
