Game Summary:
Detroit picked their spots and worked well with the opportunities given and buried their chances. Militia were unable to keep up and eventually succumbed to the massive lead the Falcons had accumulated. The Militia put up a consistent 10 shots through out each period, while Detroit lagged behind with 7,7, and 9 respectively. Militia may have believed they did enough in terms of shooting, but that is definitely not the case if you look deeper. The Falcons put up 5 goals in the first two periods while Montreal only mustered a total of 2. Haugen strikes early in the third to expend the league 6-2 before Tutankhamun comes back with a snapshot of his own, but those efforts clearly were not enough.

Special Teams:
A major component to this story and a reason why Montreal should not be proud of their performance despite putting up more shots.

Montreal Militia - 1 on 8 Attempt(s) - 12.50%
Detroit Falcons - 2 on 4 Attempt(s) - 50.00%

Montreal spent twice as much time on the power play as the Falcons and produced at a much inferior rate. Unable to pull the trigger on their opportunities, Montreal just could not get through at the pace needed to keep u in terms of goals. Their penalty kill suffered in comparison and there seemed to be a massive gap between the two teams in terms of skill in the special teams department. The Militia spent too much time passing the puck around that they would cough it up at times. They got their opportunities, but just not enough.

Boom's Big Contrast: Goaltending:
This is -the- story of the game. Montreal weren't hideous in terms of finding opening, they simply could not get through Primeau as much as they would have liked. Khalil Anthony is the back up here and is a far cry from Walter Hobbs, but this situation is rather strange. They did not even have Walter backing Anthony up for whatever reason it may be. Coaching staff truly dropped the ball here, but Khalil just is not ready to take the reigns and should be playing the minimum amount of games required. He only saved 9 of 13 and the other back up only managed 8 of 10. A major problem when Primeau only lets 3 slip through on 30, great production from him as he makes a case for being the best goaltender in the league.

SMJHL.com 3 Stars
1 - Dwight Halpert (DET)
Dwight put up 2 goals on 3 shots, despite only playing 14 minutes. Scoring goals 3 and 4 respectively and 10/18 in the dot, he will be hoping that the coaching staff take notice.
2 - Flacko Lagerfield (DET)
1+1 for the leader of the Falcons as he is a key component to the team's penalty kill. Snuffed out most of Montreal's attempts and controlled the puck well.
3 - Papa Huligans (DET)
Alongside Armstrong, Huligans is a mainstay on the Detroit top pairing and has been an absolute rock for them. Up to 18 points on the season now alongside 2 locked shots proves how valuable he can be. Solid work on the power ply s he made his shots count, something Montreal could not manage.

Boom's Least Valuable Player
Montreal's Coaching Staff
Incompetence. Have Walter ready to back u, drag him to the games if you have to. Ridiculous.

Goon of the game:

In a strange turn of events, GOTG welcomes a superstar to their stage in the form of Daniel Daniil. Danny decides to fly completely off the hinges this game and piled up four penalty minutes to go with an identical four hits. Within the first ten minutes of the game he nearly decapitated one of the Falcon's players by boarding him, earning two of his four total minutes in the box. In the second period, a hooking penalty gave Detroit a man advantage on which they capitalized and took the lead. Daniil with the rare goonery, have to respect that.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME

The turning point of this game came very early. Most of the way through the first period, the Militia had picked up some momentum after a goal by DabCity Savage had put them up 1-0. However, while Savage was the one to put the Militia into the lead, he was also the one who lead to our turning point of the game. 17 minutes and 58 seconds in, Savage took a high-sticking penalty. Right after, Flacko Lagerfield won a faceoff in the Militia's zone and passed it up to Filip Armstrong, who quickly tied the game up. The momentum shifted in Detroit's favour, and 54 seconds later Flacko Lagerfield scored and the Falcons took the lead for the first time in the game. The Militia were unable to even tie it up, much less regain their lead and the Falcons eventually took the win.

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Tonight's Player of the Game is none other than Detroit Falcons center Dwight Halper. The third line center really proved his worth in this game, scoring two goals - more than anyone else scored in this game. Both of Halpert's goals were in the second half of the second period, a few minutes apart from one another. His first goal was Detroit's fourth of the game, 12 minutes and 22 seconds into the period, and this goal caused Montreal to switch goalies, letting ZzRaven's Robot Waffleface enter the game. His second goal came a little over 6 minutes later. He took a total of 3 shots and won 10 out of 18 faceoffs.

MOMENT OF THE GAME

Tonights moment of the game was actually not a goal, but a save. This happened very early on in the second period. The Militia's Dayymo Ralchankinov won a faceoff in the Falcons' zone after a tripping penalty was taken by the Falcons' Filip Armstrong. He quickly passed it off to Viktor Valentine, who was waiting in front of the goal. Valentine took a quick wrist shot at the goal, however Sebastien Primeau - Detroit's goalie - managed to just barely get the end of his stick on it. The puck was still loose though, and Ensio Kalju picked it up and fired a shot at the other side of the goal, which was almost completely open. However, Primeau somehow managed to get his glove on it, stopping the puck and killing the play.

Player of the Game:
Detroit Falcons 3rd line center, Dwight Halpert, had the game of his career against the Militia. In 14 minutes of playing time, he had 2 goals on 3 shots to lead the Falcons to a 6-3 win. It was a big second period for the rising star, who scored with 8 minutes to go, then again with a minute 30 left. Dwight got his first game puck, his first first star, and his 3rd and 4th goals of the season. In addition to his career scoring game, he won 10 of his 18 faceoffs and had several takeaways.
