St. Louis Tops Kelowna in OT Thriller

First Period
The first period started off with some fireworks as Kelowna Knight Xavier Paquette blasted in his second goal of the season only 2:23 into the game. Brock Becker and Mirio Togata would be awarded the assists. St. Louis went on the early poweplay courtesy of a James Dekens hooking minor. During the powerplay, following a spectacular Kara Vilde save, Otis B. Driftwood and Fenton Uriel fought to an entertaining draw. That’s five for fighting, folks. St. Louis shortly followed up with a tripping penalty of their own. The 1st period would with Kelowna holding on to their 1-0 lead.

Second Period
The second period was all St. Louis, going on the powerplay 5 times due to sloppy discipline by Kelowna. St. Louis tapped in a goal 5:30 (Daniel Karlsson (1), assists Matěj Eliáš, Tony Snow) into the period to tie it up. St. Louis would go into a long powerplay after Brock Becker was given a game misconduct for instigating a fight. St. Louis would capitalize just 16 seconds later taking the lead at 10:38 (Michael Fischer (1), assists Nicholas Falk, Daniel Karolsson). St. Louis would hold the lead going into the third, 2-1.

Third Period
The third period began with Kelowna tying the game up just 1:06 into the period. Iam Essellemm would score his first goal of the season. Jacob Dorty and Darren McCarty were awarded with the assists. Both sides would show shades of brilliance, but due to spectacular play by the goales, the third period ended at a 2-2 tie.

Time for some free hockey! Following the short break, both teams came out with fire and fury determined to take home that final point. It would be Gordie Maple with the game winner 2:54 into the overtime period for the game winner. Matěj Eliáš would get his second assist on the night.

Goon of the Game:
In this week's episode, we feature one of the league's foremost opponents when it comes to fisticuffs. Kelowna took a trip on down to St. Louis and both teams ended up leaving with bruises, especially Kelowna's goon extraordinaire Brock Becker. In what was a close game all the way down to the OT winner, emotions exploded in the second period as Becker went fucking bananas and attacked Scarecrow's first liner Carter Manning. The fight ended in a draw but Becker was assessed a match penalty for instigating a fight and ejected, amassing 17 PIM in the process in just 10:29 ice time. Oh, and his team lost. Well done, Brock.

Unsung Hero
Although he did not hit the score sheet in this one, tonight's unsung hero is St. Louis Center Carter Manning. Every time Manning was on the ice tonight, he found a way to make an impact. Going 24 for 36 in the faceoff dot, Manning made sure that St. Louis started with the puck 2 out of every three times in step into the circle. Not only were Manning's faceoff wins key, but he also found himself playing 8 powerplay minutes plus another 2 and a half on the PK. Best of all, Manning dropped the gloves halfway through the second period with Brock Becker from the Knights; this gave the Scarecrows the momentum to score just 20 seconds later to break the tie. Manning was all over the ice tonight, contributing in all aspects of the game, and thus has earned himself the title of Unsung Hero for this one.

TSN Turning Point

2:52 of 1st overtime period - Icing by Deku Izuku.

This was a critical mistake for the Kelowna defender. After succesfully killing off a penalty caused by an errant high stick, near the end of regulation, the Knights seemed poised to win the game. They only allowed one shot during the penalty kill, and momentum was on their side. Going into the extra frame, you'd imagine that they would be able to pull out the win. However, it was St. Louis that came out strong in the overtime period. They held Kelowna in their own end, and had their players dead tired. Dezu Izuku tried to clear the puck down ice, in hopes of a change but it resulted in an icing call. The Scarecrows made sure to prove the choice costly as Gordie Maple won off a faceoff win by Matěj Eliáš in the Knights end.

Game Thirteen: TSN Turning Point: Detroit Falcons vs Montreal Militia

The TSN Turning point in the game came at the 14:42 mark of the second period. Although the Detroit Falcons were already up by two goals on the Montreal Militia at this point, the goal that put them up 3-0 really ended up crushing the Montreal Militia's spirit, effectively taking all the wind from their sails. Before this turning-point moment, the scoreboard did not really tell the full story. The Montreal Militia were matching the Detroit Falcons shot for shot, hit for hit, but not goal for goal. The chances were there, but the Falcons net minder was the difference maker up until Pingy Pingu buried his second of the year--on nice passes from Wolfhard Richter and Aleksandria Aleksandrovia--to put the game out of reach. Although, the Monteal Militia would later score goals late in the second and half way through the third--it was too little, too late.
