PT 4 - Highs and Lows
#46

Our 12th game of the season we hosted the Anchorage Armada in what would go on to be a blowout for us as we closed out the game 7-2. This is one of those games that really proves that less total, but more quality shots can produce better results than just throwing everything you can at the net and praying. The first period saw us jump out to a 3-0 lead in just the first 4 minutes of the game as Schofield potted a rebound goal, then our captain Leshaun King scored 2 more quickly off of faceoffs. We would go on to score a fourth goal just outside of a minute to play in the first on the power play and run the Armada starting tender from the game. After the first we led by a commanding score of 4-0 but only led in shots by a measly 8-5. Keeping the shots quick and screened allowed us to jump on Anchorage early, while in our own defensive end we remained sound and stayed out of the penalty box to hold them to just 2 goals on the night while we would go on to score 3 more even though we only outshot them by a total of 26-24.

We're a young team though and sometimes you don't come out so hot every night and the first place Kelowna Knights knocked us around just past the halfway mark of the season with a 6-1 trouncing. Kelowna would score inside the opening 30 seconds on the power play and would never relinquish the lead from there. They managed to keep themselves out of the box until the third period when the game was already decided while scoring on both of their power play chances. This was a men against boys matchup that night; the Knights more than doubling our shot attempts 40-19. This wasn't even a case of Kelowna blocking shots either, they just managed to keep the puck more often, which is even more surprising by the fact that the faceoffs were split for each team 50/50.

Highlight, 6-0 WIN vs STL

This is the ONLY game the Falcons had scored 6 points. Everything was going great. 4 points were scored in the first period alone. The first by rookie Wolfhard Richter, The next came by a pass from Vladislav Konstantin to Kyle Keenan Jr. to starting center Kyle Keenan Jr., then David Fantobens joined the party with the fourth goal of the period. Then the game completely slowed down in the second period with only 8 shots. The speed was probably because of the five penalties, two were from a fight in the 19th minute of the period. The falcons were back in shape in the third period. With not one, but two, three pass goals, one by Lightning Jones, and another by Marcel Puhringer, who was traded to Detroit recently before. This game could also be pointed to as the game that has changed the luck of the Falcons. Who are now the 4th seed in the SMJHL.

Lowlight, 0-4 LOSS to VAN

One of the many early season woes for Detroit. The Falcons went to vancouver and got absolutely slaughtered. Only had 23 total shots, almost 8 consecutively. Cedric Robinson gave up 2 goals on 11 shots in the first period. Knocked in by Tokek Takshak and Benis Smol. The Falcons also had 5 penalties in the first two periods. Detroit's First Line hoisted a glorious -2 plus minus during the game. Even Marc Palicka had a bad night, going 6/20 on faceoffs. This game will probably forever live in infamy for the Season 42 Falcons.
