Ostap Maksimov will be the young player that makes the difference for the Calgary Dragons and that is because he is a strength where otherwise the Dragons lack strength and that is on the blue line, already one of Calgarys best defenders in the back end of the ice, Ostap was drafted later than many anticipated and that is why he has come with a vengeance to prove everyone who ever doubted him wrong in regards to training regiment and willingness to work through any obstacle. Artemi Benezin will be the difference maker for the New England Wolfpack, his strong play on both ends of the ice has translated well to the SHL and he has proven he is where he belongs in regards to the level of competition on the ice. Never known as an elite scorer, Benezin has always had an impressive defensive impact on the ice at both the SMJHL and SHL level. 2 Again as we return to unsung hereos of the S42 playoffs we have to look no further than the young player I swore would make an impact on this series and that is Ostap Maksimov, the young defensemen. Never known as a goal scorer Ostap recorded and understandable zero goals, but instead made his presence felt through his elite passing abilities with 13 assists Ostap quarterbacked the powerplay with 5 assists. Ostap was a leader on the ice and his presence was felt and ultimately that is why I decided he was the best choice for unsung hero, whether it be because he was a leader or he used his elite vision to set up the goal scorers Ostap was always present when they needed him. He will continue being an asset for an aging Calgary team that will hopefully one day need to be rebuilt. Thank you Calgary, please rebuild. 6 Two PM'd |
