Disclaimer: Ive been here 8 seasons and ive done my best to treat everyone respectfully, i think you all know that.. so please consider this post as a 'cashing in on some good will'...if this doesnt agree with you. Cool

This sites been hijacked by abrasion for over a week now... we are 1/3rd of the season done and theres been nothing but shit posts in this place. it's saturated discord and the site like a virus and for those that dont read the thunderdome this place looks like a ghost town and for those that do read it.. its not been enjoyable reading.. Much of it is 'must look at the car crash' type shit.

Im not asking anyone to sing songs together and act like peoples positions on these issues are not valid cause they are and everyone should voice them... Just asking that we all try it turn it down a notch ..and get back to some non abrasive content, cause were going to start losing members here and its not going to be because of people using banned words. its going to be cause people are going to get fed up logging in and reading a constant barage of negative shit.

I have been something of a shithead lately. I can own up to that. I may hold opinions different to some of yours and I may loudly defend them.

When it comes down to it, I like being around here. This league gives me a lot to look forward to on a daily basis and I'm excited to contribute to it. Even when I'm taking on all of Buffalo at one time I'm happy to be here and I love all of you, even those of you I hate.

This stemmed from one member homophobically insulting another member. I'll say it again... If you really can't avoid using the words outlined by HO in a negative context then you should just leave the SHL because it's better off without you.

I'm not sure it was your intention, Izzy, but saying that these things shouldn't be discussed because they're too abrasive is enabling and silently condoning blatant homophobia, racism, and abelism. I know people will spout the snowflake bullshit because they're incapable of showing empathy to those who are different from them but these discussions/shitstorms are necessary for moving this site forward.

Easy to accept the current words going cause they suck when used as attacks but the rule as a whole allows them to add anything. It's dumb and calls on people bringing up shitty words to see if they belong on the list. Theyre begging for this drama like hanging s bug zapper out in the dark.

I get not wanting to seem bigoted but accepting a ban on thse words, with the ability and the requirement that new ones sitting HO members seem unfit for the community is short sighted.

Obviously not backwards progress when you look at the whole Slash TD. This "new" rule isn't limiting freedom of speech. It's the same personal attack rule we had with added clarifications about what is worthy of punishment and what that punishment should be. I can promise you that this rule will not retard progress in terms of supporting marginalized groups. It's a zero tolerance policy on using certain words as descriptors of negative actions/ideas.

Thinking it won't be abused doesn't mean it cannot. It's a bad rule trying to do a positive thing
