Game 80: Anchorage v St. Louis

Another Wednesday night in Canada. Anchorage Armada vs St. Louis Scarecrows. This was a pretty great game for anchorage as they stole the night with a 3-goal lead. As per usual I’ll start off with the goalies. Tonight, we had Benjamin Blue playing for Anchorage Armada, and Arvid Hakansson playing for the Saint Louis Scarecrows. Benjamin Blue managed to save 23 out of 24 shots with an awesome 0.958 save percentage and record of 8 wins 12 losses and one overtime loss. Feels as though these two are playing in a different league. Arvin missed about 4 goals this game with a 0.867 save percentage. Not as high as his counterpart and a record of 1 win, 1 loss. Here you can see the effects of experience on a goalie. As for assists, there were 2 Amada players that really stuck out for me. Tucker Baloo and Maurice Amin both are strong players. And just as important as it is to have lead scorers you need those players that truly play for their team and are willing to let others shine. We also had Helmuts Akmenlauks on the Saint Louis Scarecrows with a great assist.
Now let’s go over these 3 periods. The first period was Slow and we had shots coming in from both teams. Anchorage took 7 shots, while the Scarecrows took 8, making things pretty even this period. It wasn’t until the last 20 seconds or so of the first period that we saw Anchorage Armada’s shining star Dean Colt III score the first goal to give them that well-deserved lead. Once the Second period rolled around the game really started to pick up. 1 minute in and we had Lil Manius come in with the retaliation and bringing the game to a tie. But Anchorage didn’t let that last long, only 2 minutes after we have a goal by Karl Von Wittelsback from Anchorage Armada, giving them back that lead. After another 10 mins of back and forth, Armada comes in HOT with their third goal giving them that contingency goal for the period. Coming into the Third and final period, right away we have Armada score their fourth and final goal by Chase McAllister and really solidify their win of the game. The period continues with the scarecrows failing to come through and give Armada that well-deserved win.
To end off the night we had out 3 Stars given to 1: Dean Colt III who scored the first goal of the night and really set a precedent for the game. Followed by Tucker Baloo and Maurice Amin, Both well-rounded and supportive players this season.
