Top 100 SHL Players of Today!
Season 44

Welcome back everyone, to the seasonal top 100 players of today. So for those who do not know, this is the 25th edition of this article, awarding the top 100 players heading into the 44th season.

I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone who has helped me over the years and who has helped keep the players and teams accurate each season.

I used a points system which graded over 130 players, narrowing the list down to 100 and ranking those elite 100 players of the SHL.

I'd like to ask the media grader to wait for my PM before grading this article.

T-100. (S33) C (Buffalo Stampede) - Viktor Vorkämpfer || -49
Grade: 70
Past Seasons: S41-84, S42-97, S43-52

Starting off this list is Viktor Vorkämpfer of the Buffalo Stampede dropping considerable after a very poor season in which he scored the fewest number of points since S38. Vorkämpfer scored 7 goals and 26 points in S43, was -6, and despite the hitting wasn't entirely effective overall. It is possible regression really took a toll on him, but it is also possible that he just hit a bump in the road and will be back at it next season.

T-100. (S39) RW (Toronto North Stars) - Mikhail Lokitonov || -5
Grade: 70
Past Seasons: S43-95

Also at 100 is Mikhail Lokitonov of the Toronto North Stars, early in his career but struggling to get off the cusp and really into the list. Lokitonov scored 12 goals and 34 points in S43, failing to repeat his 43 point campaign a season ago. Still young, and a lot of time to improve, though.

99. (S38) RW (San Francisco Pride) - Kyler Gill || New Entry
Grade: 70.30
Past Seasons: None

At 99 is Pride winger Kyler Gill, a new entry on the list after breaking out in S43 with 23 goals and 42 points. This was third on a struggling Pride team, and he was -1 on the year, but compared to most of his teammates this can be considered a major positive. Another youthful player, if Gill can keep improving then this may mean the Pride have a bright future ahead of them.

98. (S32) LW (Winnipeg Jets) - Kyle Kylrad || -20
Grade: 70.50
Past Seasons: S35-100, S36-75, S37-20, S38-34, S39-44, S40-51, S41-73, S42-54, S43-78

At 98 is Kyle Kylrad, his lowest ranking since he started on the list back in S35. Kylrad scored 18 goals and 30 points with the Jets in S43, which still keeps his 30 point streak going (all the way back to S34), but with him way down on the depth chart compared to a lot of his high scoring teammates, this doesn't really mean all that much.

97. (S34) C (Texas Renegades) - Brett Kennedy || -7
Grade: 70.60
Past Seasons: S42-89, S43-90

At 97 is Renegade center Brett Kennedy, who was recently moved from the Seattle Riot and is looking to get back into the swing of things with is career. Kennedy scored 9 goals and 32 points, which wasn't too bad, it isn't all that impressive, and it sums up his career thus far.

96. (S38) RW (Minnesota Chiefs) - Bobby Watson || -40
Grade: 70.60
Past Seasons: S41-98, S42-80, S43-56

Bobby Watson comes in at 96, the former North Stars winger who has taken a major spill in production in S43. He scored 16 goals and 27 points in S43, was -22 (on a team that had multiple double digit plus players), and only registered 57 hits on the year. Watson had some major problems, but being as young as he is, he still has a lot of time to work out those kinks.

95. (S39) D (Toronto North Stars) - Richard Physt || New Entry
Grade: 70.80
Past Seasons: None

At 95 is a new entry in Richard Physt, coming out of his shell a little bit with his 2 goals and 26 points. Now that isn't really very good when it comes to other defenders on this list, but compared to his 16 and 14 point seasons to start his career, it looks like Physt is finally seeing the results he needs to work on up.

94. (S36) RW (West Kendall Platoon) - Dionýz Vyskoč || New Entry
Grade: 70.90
Past Seasons: None

Another new entry is Dionýz Vyskoč of the Platoon, who surprisingly didn't enter the list last season but is coming into it now, scoring 11 goals and 36 points in S43. What was surprising was he scored 18 goals and 40 points in S42 and nobody seemed to bat an eye. However he is demonstrating some consistency that the voters are seeing as a major positive for his development.

93. (S39) G (San Francisco Pride) - Chris Partridge || New Entry
Grade: 71.20
Past Seasons: None

At 93 is a young goaltender in Chris Partridge, making his debut on the list with some posibite individual stats, even though the team as a whole wasn't all that good. Partridge went 15-20-8, however his .902 was pretty solid, and it made up for the fact he had a 3.63 goals against average on the season. Can he help bring the Pride back into relevancy with his continued development?

92. (S36) C (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Oliver König || -10
Grade: 71.20
Past Seasons: S43-82

At 92 is Olver König of the Hamilton Steelhawks, dropping back a bit but still being productive with his 16 goals and 33 points. König's major setback on this list has been his lack of any kind of intangibles so far during his career.

91. (S38) LW (San Francisco Pride) - Howie Dewitt || New Entry
Grade: 71.30
Past Seasons: None

At 91 is Pride winger Howie Dewitt, with his second straight 39 point season and really starting to get his offensive groove despite the team around him having some major struggles as of late. Dewitt scored 14 goals, and while it wasn't up to the standards of the previous season (18) he certainly is starting to show the world what he has to offer the SHL.

90. (S39) G (Minnesota Chiefs) - Sebastien Primeau || +2
Grade: 71.40
Past Seasons: S43-92

At 90 is Sebastien Primeau, with his second season as starter for the Chiefs and coming into his own despite the issues with the team as a whole. Primeau went 22-21-1 with a .903 save percentage and 2.88 goals against average. The one concern is the Chiefs as a whole didn't seem to have any more success with S43 Primeau as they did with S42 Primeau.

89. (S30) LW (Texas Renegades) - Conklin Owen || -28
Grade: 71.60
Past Seasons: S35-85, S37-57, S38-57,  S40-6, S41-47, S42-65, S43-61

At number 89 is Renegade winger Conklin Owen, dropping off for his worst season since he entered the list back in S35. Owen had some struggles in S43, scoring only 18 goals and 32 points, the first time he scored fewer than 40 points since S35 (sensing a pattern?). With regression already working its magic it is very possible that Owen will no longer be part of this list, which is a shame considering his top-10 finish was one for the history books.

88. (S37) LW (Edmonton Blizzard) - Hercules Rockefeller || +8
Grade: 72.10
Past Seasons: S43-96

At 88 is Blizzard winger Hercules Rockefeller of the Edmonton Blizzard, moving up on the list and looking to get some consistent years out of him. This is the third straight season Rockefeller has scored at least 30 points, and adding to his defensive game he has actually done pretty well for himself as of late.

87. (S33) D (Seattle Riot) - Isaac Cormier-Hale || -12
Grade: 72.10
Past Seasons: S40-76, S41-27, S42-52, S43-75

At 87 is Riot defender Isaac Cormier-Hale, dropping off after the worst statistical season he has had since S36 where he scored 14 points. Cormier-Hale scored 44 goals and 21 points, was -7 (worst on his team), and despite the decent physical game wasn't really effective in any of the three zones during the most recent season.

86. (S40) LW (Manhattan Rage) - Reginald Rove || New Entry
Grade: 72.20
Past Seasons: None

At 86 is Rage winger Reginald Rove, coming into the list for the first time after a major coming out party where he scored 22 goals and 45 points. In that season he finished second on the team in points and tied for first in goals. His defensive game needs a lot of work, however (-15 on the year) and he has no real physical game to speak of, but there is a lot of raw potential in this player just waiting to get out.

85. (S35) LW (Manhattan Rage) - Wolf Von Hammersmark || New Entry
Grade: 72.30
Past Seasons: None

Another new entry enters the list at 85 in Wolf Von Hammersmark. Hammersmark scored 22 goals and 43 points, had a solid physical game (97 hits on the year), and even got some major minutes on the power play. Right now all he needs to do is string a couple of these seasons along and he will be in the top-50 in no time.

84. (S25) C (Texas Renegades) - Jack Durden || Even
Grade: 72.40
Past Seasons: S30-76, S31-24, S32-37, S33-33, S34-38, S35-20, S36-15, S37-15, S38-20, S39-19, S40-16, S41-24, S42-72, S43-84

At 84 is Renegades center Jack Durden, who is still kicking on this list after most people thought he was all washed up. Durden had another productive season, scoring 17 goals and 39 points, which is something to be proud of even if the physicality and defense isn't what it used to be (and who can blame him considering his age?).

83. (S35) LW (Winnipeg Jets) - Maruizio Arrivabene || New Entry
Grade: 72.80
Past Seasons: None

At 83 is Jets winger Maruizio Arrivabene, another new entry on the list, scoring 21 goals and 47 points, career highs in both categories. Arrivabene has taken a little bit of time to get to prime form, and there is no telling if he will be able to do this for more than one season, but the Jets may have finally gotten the potential out of this winger, and not a moment too soon.

82. (S35) LW (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Angelo Odjick || -14
Grade: 73
Past Seasons: S41-70, S42-78, S43-68

At 82 is Steelhawks winger Angelo Adjick, unable to crack the top-50 with his performances as of late. Odjick scored 16 goals and 34 points in S43, was +15, and registered 89 hits. However without being able to string together a lot of productive numbers this isn't really much more than a high point which will lead to an eventual low.

81. (S36) C (Los Angeles Panthers) - Yuri Boyka Jr. || Even
Grade: 73.10
Past Seasons: S41-90, S42-75, S43-81

At 81 is Panthers center Yuri Boyka Jr., who sticks in the exact same ranking as the year before, surprisingly. Boyka Jr. scored 13 goals and 37 points, which is pretty similar to what he did last season, even if a little worse. His physical game and defensive game kept around the same, too, so it seems that this center may have found a comfortable spot on the list and isn't much willing to move.

80. (S28) D (New England Wolfpack) - Mia Landvik || -37
Grade: 73.20
Past Seasons: S35-56, S36-60, S38-65, S39-40, S40-63, S41-36, S42-28, S43-43

At 80 is veteran defenseman Mia Landvik, out of the top-50 and potentially out of contention to be a top-10 player at this rate. Landvik scored 4 goals and 18 points, breaking the streak of 30 point seasons, thus ending it at 6. With regression taking big hits in both her offensive production and intangibles, there is serious doubt that she will be able to hold on and not potentially fall off the list entirely.

79. (S32) D (West Kendall Platoon) - Noctis Caelum || -16
Grade: 73.40
Past Seasons: , S37-97, S38-79, S39-37, S40-70, S41-58, S42-50, S43-63

At 79 is Platoon defender Noctis Caelum, falling off somewhat after a performance that even he would acknowledge was not up to his own standards. Caelum scored 3 goals and 20 points in S43, was -16 (worst on his team) and finished well below what his own expectations were as far as scoring on the depth chart.

78. (S36) RW (Calgary Dragons) - Roman Augustus || -23
Grade: 73.70
Past Seasons: S40-83, S41-49, S42-41, S43-55

At 78 is Roman Augustus of the Dragons, another player dropping a bit after a subpad performance (though offensively he did better than most seasons). Augustus scored 21 goals and 40 points, a career high in both categories, so one wonders how Augustus was able to drop back so significantly for this list. Does this mean the patented algorithm is actually garbage? Will Calgary fans riot?

77. (S36) RW (Texas Renegades) - Colton Hagan || -42
Grade: 73.80
Past Seasons: S41-81, S42-87, S43-35

At 77 is youngster on the Renegades Colton Hagan, dropping out of the top-50 entirely and falling to 77 with his 12 goals and 31 points. He was considered the next great one after his performance in S42, but in S43 with his paltry effort he is only a "possible one" at this point, and with the -9 and lack of a physical game there is speculation he may never get to his S42 level ever again.

76. (S36) RW (Seattle Riot) - Joseph Lombardi || New Entry
Grade: 74
Past Seasons: None

At 76 is newcomer Joseph Lombardi of the Seattle Riot, having the best season of his career and looking upwards, now. Lombardi scored 20 goals and 46 points, was +5, and despite the hits was decent as far as two-way play is concerned. Lombardi appears to have found his place in Seattle and there is a strong possibility he could only get better from here.

75. (S39) LW (Seattle Riot) - DeMaricus Smyth || +22
Grade: 74.10
Past Seasons: S43-97

At 75 is another Riot player, winger DeMaricus Smyth. Smyth himself had his own career season with 19 goals and 41 points, adding to the prestige of his player who has been nothing short of spectacular during his short tenure in the SHL. He hasn't shown much else other than offensive output, so he does have some growing to do, but he certainly could do so in the long time that it will take for regression to knock on his door.

74. (S38) C (Buffalo Stampede) - Dermot Lavelle || +13
Grade: 74.20
Past Seasons: S42-99, S43-87

At 74 is Stampede center Dermot Lavelle, another player who hasn't spent much time in the SHL so far but is already making a major mark. Lavelle scored 19 goals and 41 points in S43, and surprisingly enough that isn't even his career high (his rookie season was bananas). He hasn't improved all that much since joining the SHL, but still he could potentially be a superstar if he is able to add to his toolbox.

73. (S36) LW (Edmonton Blizzard) - Teddy Cuddles || +4
Grade: 74.20
Past Seasons: S41-86, S42-98, S43-77

At 73 is Blizzard winger Teddy Cuddles, with his highest ranking on the list yet after a decent but not his best season in S43. He scored 14 goals and 37 points, which overall isn't all that great, but his physical game remained on point and overall he was able to keep pretty consistent, which apparently is a big thing for the voters, at least in this section of the list.

72. (S33) RW (Minnesota Chiefs) - Halfdan Thorstein || -27
Grade: 74.20
Past Seasons: S37-83, S38-81, S39-76, S40-74, S41-69, S42-74, S43-45

At 72 is a veteran in Halfdan Thorstein, falling out of the top-50 (and for good reason) with his performance last year. Thorstein scored 19 goals and 34 points, and while the goal scoring was there, he wasn't much of a playmaker and his defensive game was lacking. Not to mention he has never been much of a physical player, and S43 was even worse than the season prior.

71. (S37) RW (Texas Renegades) - Logan Jensen || +28
Grade: 74.50
Past Seasons: S43-99

At 71 is Renegade Logan Jensen who is moving on up despite not being on the list for very long and most people giving him no chance to succeed. Jensen scored 17 goals and 42 points, which was a career high for the young winger and something nobody was expected. Can Jensen become one of the next dominant players the critics should have given more of a chance?

70. (S33) RW (Manhattan Rage) - Yuriy Starkonov || +18
Grade: 74.80
Past Seasons: S43-88

At 70 is Yuriy Starkonov of the Manhattan Rage, moving on up himself with a career season and his first 40+ point year. Surprising considering last season was the first season that regression was making its way into his life. Does this mean that he is a fine wine who gets better with age? I would wait at least one more season before assuming that.

69. (S31) LW (Seattle Riot) - Eduard Selich || +14
Grade: 74.80
Past Seasons: S33-84, S34-36, S35-12, S36-38, S37-52, S38-53, S39-33, S40-40, S42-92, S43-83

At 69 is Eduard Selich of the Seattle Riot, moving up after his S43 performance which puts him in a pretty respectable clip the last three seasons. Selich scored 19 goals and 38 points, while being sound defensively, and while the hits weren't really there, he still produced well and has begun doing so while being hit with regression.

68. (S39) C (Manhattan Rage) - Yannick Berger || New Entry
Grade: 75.30
Past Seasons: None

At 68 is new entry Yannick Berger of the Manhattan Rage, who in only his third full season was able to lead his team in scoring for S43. Berger scored 15 goals and 48 points, and so far during his career he has enjoyed a meteoric rise in both offensive production and his overall game. Could he be the quickest player to ever vault to the top-10 in league history?

67. (S31) C (Edmonton Blizzard) - Geronimo Otto || -52
Grade: 76
Past Seasons: S36-90, S38-69, S39-36, S40-8, S41-6, S42-30, S43-15

At 67 is Geronimo Otto with a major fall despite multiple seasons of top-tier play where he scored 50+ points in five straight seasons. Why? His S43 campaign was the worst he has been since S35, as he scored 14 goals and only 34 points, well behind a lot of his teammates, was a minus player, and was basically unnoticable in physicality.

66. (S39) G (Manhattan Rage) - Cedric Moreau || New Entry
Grade: 76.60
Past Seasons: None

At 66 is Rage goaltender Cedric Moreau of the Manhattan Rage, a new entry on the list after his second season as a starter for the rebuilding team. Moreau went 19-21-4 with a .908 save percentage and 3.13 goals against average. He is holding his own so far on a team that doesn't have all that much to work with while the team's stars are progressing.

65. (S39) D (Winnipeg Jets) - Gary Grease || New Entry
Grade: 76.60
Past Seasons: None

At 65 is another new entry, Gary Grease of the Winnipeg Jets. Grease scored 9 goals and 39 points in S43, tripling his point production in S42 and dominating the floor defensively and physically (127 hits). His quick rise to the list (and as high as 65 is solid) is something to behold, as we could have a superstar in the making right here.

64. (S37) D (Edmonton Blizzard) - Tor Tuck || +29
Grade: 76.90
Past Seasons: S43-93

At 64 is Blizzard defender Tor Tuck, he himself with a lot of improvements to be proud of going into S44. Tuck scored 8 goals and 32 points, a career high in both categories, and continued to round out his game with a top defensive effort and continued to lay on the hits (110 in S43).

63. (S29) G (Calgary Dragons) - Richard C. Hocolate || -54
Grade: 76.90
Past Seasons: S38-94, S39-98, S40-19, S41-48, S42-29, S43-9

At 63 is former top-10 player/goaltender Richard C. Hocolate, who had one of the worst seasons of his successful career and almost knocked the Dragons out of the playoffs because of it. Hocolate went 21-21-2, with a .895 save percentage and 3.12 goals against average. One can safely assume this was just one bad season, but then again with regression hitting hard this could be a sign of things to come.

62. (S28) RW (New England Wolfpack) - Dieter Dominique || +17
Grade: 77.80
Past Seasons: S34-51, S35-86, S36-59, S37-73, S38-59, S39-50, S40-23, S41-44, S42-83, S43-79

At 62 is Wolfpack winger Dieter Dominique of the Wolfpack, a player who has had some inconsistency during his career, but still remains very productive on a team that relies on consistent productivity. Dominique scored 23 goals and 45 points, finishing third on the team in scoring. This is the 7th 40+ point season in 9 for him, showing just how valuable of a player he is.

61. (S38) D (Buffalo Stampede) - Tatu Mäkelä || +19
Grade: 77.90
Past Seasons: , S37-, S38-, S39-, S40-, S41-, S42-84, S43-80

Tatu Mäkelä comes in at number 61 with his own brand of consistent play at defense. Mäkelä scored 6 goals and 30 points, matching his previous season's total (and now third 30+ point season in a row), and despite not being able to improve much with his hits or defensive play he is still doing a good job of finding his own niche.

60. (S32) RW (West Kendall Platoon) - Leafer Rielly || +6
Grade: 78
Past Seasons: S39-95, S40-44, S41-39, S42-44, S43-66

At 60 is Platoon winger Leafer Rielly, who surprisingly is younger than you think despite the way he plays out there. Rielly improved on his disappointing S42 campaign with 21 goals and 42 points, adding a +9 and 95 hits into the mix as well (which was a career high in that regard). Rielly is entering regression, however it doesn't seem to be slowing him down at all and his veteran presence has been a major contributor to the Platoon's recent success.

59. (S32) C (Edmonton Blizzard) - Teodors Cukurs || Even
Grade: 78.20
Past Seasons: S39-56, S40-59, S41-87, S42-68, S43-59

At 59 is Teodors Cukurs of the Edmonton Blizzard, sticking to his guns in the rankings after a little bit of a drop in production. Cukurs scored 17 goals and 40 points in S43, but despite the lack of offensive production was am uch more effective physical presence with 100 hits (the most of his career) and overall was a better two-way center. Despite regression he could stick around for a little bit longer, and might even crack that top-50 some day.

58. (S40) G (Texas Renegades) - Walter Hobbs || +16
Grade: 78.40
Past Seasons: S43-74

Walter Hobbs comes in at number 58, a recent addition to the list but continuing to make jaws drop with his play at such a young age. Hobbs went 22-18-3 in S43 with a .900 save percentage and 3.15 goals against average. As you can see Hobbs wasn't exactly helped out in front of him, but he was still able to have a respectable season, and even got himself a shutout out of it.

57. (S39) D (Toronto North Stars) - Bob Bergen || +12
Grade: 78.90
Past Seasons: S42-58, S43-69

At 57 is North Stars defender Bob Bergen, moving up on the list and enjoying his highest ranking after his most recent season (which surprisingly wasn't all that impressive). Bergen scored 5 goals and 29 points, registered only 29 hits, and was even on the year in plus minus. So what made him rise up in the list? Possibly the fact he didn't fall flat on his face during the S43 campaign after only his third season? It will take a lot more to get to the top-50, and his S43 campaign will not at all be acceptable going forward.

56. (S36) LW (Seattle Riot) - Alexander Zajac || +35
Grade: 79
Past Seasons: S43-91

At 56 is Alexander Zajac of the Riot, with a career best season and what looks to be a major resurgence in his standing in the league. Zajac scored 18 goals and 49 points in S43, with a +18 and even 129 hits. Zajac has always been an effective physical specimen, but to see him follow that up with solid offensive production means this player could be destined for great things. Can he improve on this season and become an elite player?

55. (S36) D (Winnipeg Jets) - Karl Hefeweizen || +7
Grade: 79.10
Past Seasons: S41-68, S42-22, S43-62

At 55 is Jets defender Karl Hefeweizen, who had his one time in the spotlight back in S42 but is working his way back. Hefeweizen scored 5 goals and 31 points, which isn't all that impressive (despite being a defenseman), and his overall game wasn't exactly stellar. But he is looking more on the up and up to getting back to his 48 point season, so perhaps that is what is keeping him so high on the lists.

54. (S36) G (Los Angeles Panthers) - Evgueni Marmeladov || -15
Grade: 79.30
Past Seasons: , S37-, S38-, S39-, S40-, S41-89, S42-48, S43-39

At 54 is Panthers goaltender Evgueni Marmeladov, dropping back a bit despite some impressive play on his part. Marmeladov went 25-16-1 in S43, with a .905 save percentage and 3.09 goals against average. The Panthers didn't exactly help him out in S43, but he also wasn't exactly in the best form.

53. (S32) LW (Buffalo Stampede) - Luke Atmey || -4
Grade: 80.10
Past Seasons: S34-93, S36-51, S37-14, S38-8, S39-21, S40-10, S41-3, S42-23, S43-49

At 53 is Stampede winger Luke Atmey, who has been pretty impressive for the Stampede but not quite up to what he was in Manhattan for so many seasons. Atmey scored 25 goals and 44 points in S43, rebounding from his S42 campaign but not on the defensive side of the puck, finishing at -11 and registering fewer hits than the season prior. Could this be the end of days for Luke Atmey, a player who was once a major contender for the top-10?

52. (S31) RW (Texas Renegades) - Vasily Horvat || -8
Grade: 80.10
Past Seasons: S43-44

At 52 is Renegade winger Vasily Horvat, who despite entering regression already is only on this list for the second time. Horvat seems to be a bit of a late bloomer so far, scoring 16 goals and 39 points in s43, which surprisingly wasn't even his best season. However his defensive game seems to have rebounded, and his 225 hits was a career best (though not enough to keep him improving on the list).

51. (S33) LW (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Zanarkand Abes || +9
Grade: 80.50
Past Seasons: , S37-, S38-131, S39-68, S40-14, S41-43, S42-36, S43-60

At 51 is Steelhawks winger Zanarkand Abes, very close to getting back in the top-50 with his recent performance. While not a career high, he scored 13 goals and 46 points in S43, with a +6 and 133 hits (which was very close to a career high for him). If he can get some consistency in his high numbers, he might actually be able to get back to the top-20, and even challenge for a top-10 spot. Will be much harder with regression hitting him at this point.

50. (S31) RW (WInnipeg Jets) - Zach Evans || -17
Grade: 80.50
Past Seasons: S36-62, S37-23, S38-7, S39-4, S40-8, S41-14, S42-18, S43-33

At 50 is Jets winger Zach Evans, continuously dropping on the list after continuously dropping numbers in his production. Evans scored 16 goals and 45 points, which is still a solid season if you are a forward, but when it comes to this guy, it is not at all close to what is expected (this guy scored 65 points back in S38). Evans is going to have a lot of trouble moving back up at this point, but with the seasons he has had in the past anything is possible.

49. (S37) D (Edmonton Blizzard) - Connor Tanner || -23
Grade: 80.50
Past Seasons: S42-56, S43-26

At number 49 is Blizzard defenseman Connor Tanner, falling back after a disappointing follow up to a career best season. Tanner scored 8 goals and 26 points, was -3, and only mustered 85 shots on net. While he still has a lot of time to get his affairs in order, this certainly isn't a positive sign for Blizzard fans as their future stud defenseman is having major consistency issues.

48. (S33) RW (Winnipeg Jets) - Crossfit Jesus || Returning Entry
Grade: 80.60
Past Seasons: S39-90, S40-92, S42-86

AT 48 is Jets winger Crossfit Jesus, coming back to life with his best season to date and best ranking on this list. Jesus scored 26 goals and 54 points, doubling his previous season totals and even finishing +14 on the year. To top it off he had the most shots in a season of his career, meaning he has been much more active out there on the ice. Jesus seems to finally be meshing well with the Jets and could be a threat to win the scoring title even with regression knocking on the door.

47. (S31) D (West Kendall Platoon) - Ludwig Koch Schröder || +3
Grade: 80.90
Past Seasons: S33-98, S34-92, S35-82, S36-71, S37-11, S38-32, S39-32, S40-18, S41-31, S42-31, S43-50

Veteran Ludwig Koch Schröder comes in on the list at number 47, consistently putting points on the board despite not necessarily showing the elite flair that he demonstrated years ago. Schröder scored 7 goals and 32 points in S43, and while his plus minus was only even, he was still a stable presence in his own zone and something the Platoon have needed these last few seasons, and a big reason why they have won two cups in three years.

46. (S35) D (Manhattan Rage) - Shoyu Kikkoman || +11
Grade: 810
Past Seasons: S41-29, S42-26, S43-57

At 46 is Rage defender Shoyu Kikkoman, with his resurgence coming strong but slowly. Kikkoman scored 9 goals and 36 points in S43, though his defensive game has only marginally improved. He was -12 on the year and despite the 74 blocked shots and 121 hits didn't have the same kind of tenacity we have seen of him in previous years. With regression right around the corner Kikkoman may be as good as he is going to get with his recent track record.

45. (S31) LW (Winnipeg Jets) - Pietra Volkova || +26
Grade: 81.50
Past Seasons: S36-93, S37-98, S38-85, S39-41, S40-35, S41-21, S42-46, S43-71

At 45 is Jets winger Pietra Volkova, getting back into game shape with her recent season of 20 goals and 49 points. Not quite at a point per game, but Volkova has rounded out a lot of the kinks in her play, possibly helping her become more consistent and deal with the trials and tribulations of regression. This may be the last shot before she starts to seriously regress, but considering her history there is no way to say she can't rebound even further and get back to 50+ point seasons of old.

44. (S32) LW (Edmonton Blizzard) - Cory Knouse || -32
Grade: 82.50
Past Seasons: S37-100, S38-96, S39-70, S40-34, S41-12, S42-17, S43-12

At 44 is Cory Knouse of the Blizzard, falling way back after getting so close to being a top-10 player in the league the last three seasons. Knouse scored 18 goals and only 40 points, was -1 with 164 shots and 95 hits. Not a bad stat line, and being #44 in the world isn't anything to shake your head at, but it certainly isn't what we see in the best of the best of the best.

43. (S32) D (Buffalo Stampede) - Charles Walker || +24
Grade: 82.70
Past Seasons: S39-81, S40-95, S41-55, S42-20, S43-67

Stampede defenseman Charles Walker comes in at number 43, with he himself having a rebound of a year after his dreadful 24 point campaign in S42. Walker scored 15 goals and 40 points, just shy of his career high, with 120 hits (a career high) and 61 blocked shots. Walker is starting to regress a bit, but it seems that age has only improved his ability to handle the speed and tenacity of the SHL.

42. (S34) C (New England Wolfpack) - Xander Green || +5
Grade: 82.80
Past Seasons: S40-99, S41-92, S43-47

At 42 is Wolfpack center Xander Green, jumping up slightly for his best ranking on this list after continuing to be a productive center on a team that is looking for a bit of identity at this point. Green scored 15 goals and 46 points, not quite up to the standards of the previous season, but certainly top-tier production and with a little bit of physical play to add to it (74 hits on the year).

41. (S28) G (Toronto North Stars) - Michael McFadden || -17
Grade: 82.80
Past Seasons: S31-73, S32-73, S33-56, S34-58, S35-21, S36-26, S37-42, S38-16, S39-26, S40-21, S41-10, S42-13, S43-24

At 41 is North Stars goaltender Michael McFadden, still kicking and doing great work in goal, although he has been moved around a few times in his long career. McFadden now sees himself a part of the North Stars, a team that has of late starved for some production out of their players, and acquiring McFadden might be what it takes to jumpstart the team in the right direction. McFadden went 21-13-4 (5-3-2 with Toronto) with a .904 save percentage (.910 with Toronto) and 2.85 goals against average (.275 with Toronto), and all signs point to him being just as good next year despite his age.

40. (S30) LW (San Francisco Pride) - Kelly Rivet || -11
Grade: 82.90
Past Seasons: S36-86, S38-41, S39-29, S40-38, S41-28, S42-47, S43-29

At 40 is Pride winger Kelly Rivet, dropping back a bit as he drops back a bit in production. Rivet scored 18 goals and 47 points, was -9, registered 183 shots, and only 54 hits. All things considered this certainly was not his best season but it certainly is a testament to his consistency (6 straight seasons with 40 or more points). Despite regression can he continue this streak of production, especially when the team needs to surround him with talent if they want to contend?

39. (S27) LW (Los Angeles Panthers) - Maximilian Wächter || -25
Grade: 83
Past Seasons: S32-98, S33-79, S34-56, S35-22, S36-13, S37-16, S38-39, S39-47, S40-55, S41-35, S42-15, S43-14

At 39 is Maximillian Wächter of the Los Angeles Panthers, who has still been incredibly productive and a major contributor for the Panthers despite his production falling. Wächter scored 18 goals and 44 points, was -3, and registered only 24 hits. Gone are the days that Wächter will be one of those major physical specimins, but he still appears to be bringing the offense to remain a top-pairing defender.

38. (S35) G (Winnipeg Jets) - Artom Zhumbayev || -19
Grade: 83.30
Past Seasons: S41-100, S42-19, S43-19

At 38 is Jets goaltender Artom Zhumbayev, who despite dropping on the list had a solid season among goaltenders. Zhumbayev went 30-12-2 for the Presidents Trophy Winnipeg jets, had a .906 save percentage (second best in the league) and a 2.78 goals against average. Coming into his prime and he is starting to show the talent to be a consistent McBride contender.

37. (S21) D (Minnesota Chiefs) - Alonzo Garbanzo || +27
Grade: 83.70
Past Seasons: S23-59, S24-76, S25-18, S26-30, S27-13, S28-3, S29-15, S30-6, S31-4, S32-4, S33-9, S34-2, S35-5, S36-2, S37-3, S38-3, S39-7, S40-22, S41-8, S42-7, S43-64

At 37 is Chiefs defenseman Alonzo Garbanzo, getting back to his old ways despite being one of the oldest players currently playing. Garbanzo scored 7 goals and 42 points, rebounding from his first sub-30 point season in 19 years. He was also +17 on the year, and even managed to block 69 shots out of it. Not up to his previous standards, but certainly better than S42.

36. (S35) D (Winnipeg Jets) - Spitfire || +4
Grade: 83.90
Past Seasons: S43-40

At 36 is newly acquired Jets defenseman Spitfire. After a falling out in New England, Spitfire has been looking to greener pastures, and that is quite the boon for Winnipeg with the way he has been playing. Spitfire scored 2 goals and 36 points with New England, and while his defense still needs to be fleshed out there is a lot of talent that the Jets will look to capitalize on.

35. (S31) D (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Ronnie Westbrook || -3
Grade: 83.90
Past Seasons: S34-97, S35-83, S37-40, S38-27, S39-25, S40-4, S41-25, S42-9, S43-32

At 35 is Steelhawks defenseman Ronnie Westbrook, playing consistently but just with a worse stat line than his prime seasons. Westbrook still remains a major contributor, however, as his 8 goals and 37 points is better than most in the league at this point in time. His transition to defense has been much better than many were expecting, and this change could keep him around for even longer htan anticipated.

34. (S30) D (West Kendall Platoon) - Jon Ross || +36
Grade: 84.10
Past Seasons: S33-89, S34-84, S35-58, S36-63, S37-92, S38-98, S39-99, S40-66, S42-76, S43-70

At 34 is Jon Ross, with his highest ranking (and first in the top-50) after his impressive S43 campaign. Ross scored 6 goals and 40 points, with one of his best seasons (both offensively and defensively), not to mention blocking a career high 90 shots. Ross may be getting too old at this point to contend for the top-10, but he certainly could be a consistent top-50 regular on this list.

33. (S35) D (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Finn Krüger || +39
Grade: 84.50
Past Seasons: S39-82, S40-77, S41-79, S42-66, S43-72

Finn Krüger comes in at number 33, another newcomer to the top-50. Krüger had his best season to date, scoring 7 goals and 42 points while registering 75 hits and 67 blocked shots. While not something that is going to catapult you to the top-10, there is a big chance this player could get very close in the coming years, if not make it once or twice. But his defense and physical game still has a ways to go to be considered elite, and without the high powered offense to make up for it there will be no top-10 Finn Krüger on this list.

32. (S36) D (Seattle Riot) - Clint Eastwood || +5
Grade: 84.50
Past Seasons: S42-57, S43-37

At 32 is Clint Eastwood, who over the last three seasons has really elevated his game (did not score more than 19 points from S37 to S40). In S43 Eastwood scored 8 goals and 36 points, was +3, and still did well in hits with 98 (his first time registering fewer than 100 hits, however). At this point Eastwood just needs to refine his game to move on up, because there is a lot to like about how this defenseman is playing.

31. (S34) LW (Minnesota Chiefs) - Noro Wozy || +34
Grade: 84.90
Past Seasons: S37-88, S38-68, S39-58, S40-30, S41-20, S42-27, S43-65

At 31 is Noro Wozy of the Minnesota Chiefs, a left winger with a lot of productive seasons coming into regression. Wozy scored 29 goals and 56 points, a career high in both categories and was 200+ shots he was a spark plug on offense. The one thing that remains an issue is the lack of any kind of hitting game. 20 hits isn't going to put fear in the hearts of anybody in this league.

30. (S33) D (Toronto North Stars) - Zander Rhys || -24
Grade: 85
Past Seasons: S37-99, S38-54, S39-10, S40-5, S41-19, S42-5, S43-6

At 30 is Zander Rhys of the Toronto North Stars. Rhys has been a defenseman with a lot of promise (and a lot of elite seasons under his belt), but the dream of a consistent run of elite play was shattered in S43 when the veteran fell off the face of the earth in terms of production. Rhys scored 8 goals and 26 points, and while he was playing for a North Stars team without a lot of firepower, the lack of success for the team falls partially on his shoulders, especially for a defenseman who has scored 50 points before and in many others was very close to doing so.

29. (S28) RW (Calgary Dragons) - Mikko Linna || +7
Grade: 85.10
Past Seasons: S32-76, S33-81, S34-98, S35-61, S36-48, S37-48, S38-17, S39-38, S40-24, S41-16, S42-42, S43-36[/]

At 29 is Dragons winger Mikko Linna, who has spent no time getting adjusted to his new environment, scoring 48 points in S42 and 54 points in S43. Linna has been about as consistent as you can expect from a winger in the last 5+ seasons, scoring in the high 40s or low 50s during that stretch of time. Linna has been battling regression during a number of those years, but it doesn't seem like that is going to stop him from being a major contributor.

28. (S35) C (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Robert Phelps || +20
Grade: 85.20
[i]Past Seasons: S39-66, S40-37, S41-57, S42-35, S43-48

At 28 is Steelhawks center Robert Phelps who has been groomed for this moment, finally demonstrating the elite consistency that the Steelhawks have been looking for for some time, now. Phelps scored 23 goals and 52 points, his second 50+ season in his career thus far. His physical game has remained constant, and his offense has improved, meaning that he has been one of the most prolific scorers in the league as of late. Could he do better? Possibly. But right now he has nowhere to go but up.

27. (S36) D (Minnesota Chiefs) - Isak Ødegård || +26
Grade: 85.40
Past Seasons: S42-59, S43-53

Isak Ødegård comes in at number 27 on this list, making the biggest and most surprising jump of his career so far. Ødegård scored 7 goals and 41 points, a career high and obviously his best season of his somewhat short career. He broke a career high in shots with his play, making him one of the most up and coming offensive contributors on the backend, and despite his lack of physical play is one of the most dangerous offensive defensemen in the league.
26. (S34) C (Los Angeles Panthers) - Matthew Auston || +12
Grade: 85.40
Past Seasons: S42-81, S43-38

25. (S31) LW (Winnipeg Jets) - Corey Bearss || +29
Grade: 85.80
Past Seasons: S37-55, S38-9, S39-2, S40-32, S41-52, S42-11, S43-54

At 25 is Corey Bearss of the Winnipeg Jets, getting close to the position we expected him to stay at a couple seasons ago. Bearss saw a major fall in S42 when he scored only 35 points, but as we anticipated he got right back into the elite conversation with his 22 goals and 53 points. While regression certainly is not ignored in this analysis, Bearss is the kind of player who can bring the offensive boom despite it, as we saw in S43. He even registered 208 shots, second-most of his career, all while playing a reduced amount of time on the power play.

24. (S31) LW (West Kendall Platoon) - Trevor Wilson || +1
Grade: 85.80
Past Seasons: S37-82, S38-56, S39-39, S40-12, S41-13, S42-33, S43-25

At 24 is Trevor Wilson, coming close to contention for the top-10, a ranking that has eluded him thus far. Wilson scored 19 goals and 52 points, despite getting back to the 200+ category in shots (which rarely sees sub-20 goal scorers). Wilson is another player among the S31 class who is defying the regression monster (along with Bearss) and could potentially earn his first top-10 ranking despite the fact father time wants him to give up and go away.

23. (S31) D (Los Angeles Panthers) - Toivo Kosonen || -1
Grade: 85.90
Past Seasons: S36-76, S37-76, S38-84, S39-46, S40-60, S41-40, S42-53, S43-22

At 23 is Panthers defender Toivo Kosonen, who remains a member of the top-30 but isn't making any inroads to making the top-10 right now. Another S31 draft pick, Kosonen scored 8 goals and 36 points, which was definitely an unexpected outcome considering the prolific defender had what was considered a breakout season in S42 with his 49 points.

22. (S31) D (Los Angeles Panthers) - Matthew Leetch || -17
Grade: 85.90
Past Seasons: S39-94, S40-79, S41-60, S42-4, S43-5

At 22 is Panthers defenseman Matthew Leetch, dropping out of the top-10 (and for good reason) with his paltry 3 goals and 29 points (the worst total of his career since S38). Leetch certainly has the talent to jump back into top-10 contention, but he will need to really step into another gear if he wants to get back to that point, with regression making itself known and everything.

21. (S35) LW (Calgary Dragons) - Mike Izzy || +6
Grade: 86.20
Past Seasons: S40-56, S41-59, S42-55, S43-27

At 21 is Mike Izzy of the Calgary Dragons, one of the few non-power forwards left who is willing to make a mark in the league because of his physical game. Izzy has even developed an elite game, making him one of the most valuable players on the market at this point. Izzy scored 21 goals and 48 points in S43, adding 214 shots, 198 hits, and even some penalty kill minutes on top of it. Izzy won't be moving from Calgary any time soon, but still he has been one of the most surprising power forwards that doesn't subscribe to the stereotype.

20. (S36) D (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Sami Owens || +26
Grade: 86.80
Past Seasons: S42-69, S43-46

At 20 is Steelhawks defender Sami Owens who jumps to his best ranking on the list. Owens scored 18 goals and 42 points, was +28, and despite his lack of a lot of intangible qualities (we can't all be like Mike Izzy) still remained a dominating presence recently. There is also a lot of promise that Owens could continue to improve and be one of the best players in the league despite the fact he isn't exactly the most physical specimen out there.

19. (S36) RW (New England Wolfpack) - Tigole Bitties || -1
Grade: 86.80
Past Seasons: S41-66, S42-63, S43-18

At 19 is Wolfpack winger Tigole Bitties, coming in at 19 and dropping back a spot after failing to record a 50+ season after two straight the previous seasons. Bitties scored 15 goals and 49 points, still a top-tier performance, but what really stood out from him was his new-found two-way play. Bitties registered 106 hits and remained sound in is own zone. If he can get the same offensive spark we saw in S42 and S41 we may see one of the next two-way greats.

18. (S33) RW (Toronto North Stars) - Chris York || -17
Grade: 86.80
Past Seasons: S39-34, S40-1, S41-1, S42-3, S43-1

At 18 is Chris York, losing his spot on top (after three number one rankings in four seasons) with "only" 15 goals and 43 points on the year. However, despite this he is still considered a top-20 player with his offensive contributions and excellent ability to play at both ends of the ice. To top it all off his physical game remains top notch, as he registered 180 hits on the year, second only to his 197 hit season two years prior.

17. (S30) D (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Ben Dover || -6
Grade: 86.90
Past Seasons: S33-88, S34-34, S35-62, S36-29, S37-30, S38-5, S39-6, S40-15, S41-15, S42-8, S43-11

At 17 is Steelhawks defenseman Ben Dover, dropping back after getting so close to remaining in the top ten the season prior. Dover scored 13 goals and 38 points, still very impressive but not quite up to his multiple 40+ seasons (8 in a row leading up to this season). His physical game has declined somewhat as well, not terribly surprising considering regression is right on him at this point.

16. (S36) LW (Edmonton Blizzard) - Oisin Fletcher || +1
Grade: 87.20
Past Seasons: S40-86, S41-96, S42-95, S43-17

At 16 is new Edmonton Blizzard winger Oisin Fletcher, moving on to greener pastures after the drama surrounding his own team naming a new general manager. Fletcher continues to be very impressive, albeit not demonstrating consistency as a superstar just yet. He scored 23 goals and 47 points on the season, was +15, and registered a career high 129 hits. Edmonton is hoping he will be able to continue to build on this and get him to score 60+ points once again.

15. (S37) G (West Kendall Platoon) - Beaujeaux Biscuit || -8
Grade: 87.20
Past Seasons: S41-53, S42-25, S43-7

At 15 is Beaujeaux Biscuit of the West Kendall Platoon, not having quite the year he had in S42, but still winning games and proving himself to be a true asset in the playoffs. Biscuit went 22-19-3 with a .901 save percentage and 2.95 goals against average in S42, and while it didn't win him any awards in the regular season, he was able to elevate his play in the playoffs and earn himself an Anton Razov, something nobody was expecting.

14. (S31) LW (West Kendall Platoon) - Alex Light || +9
Grade: 88.50
Past Seasons: S37-74, S38-80, S39-53, S40-49, S41-37, S42-62, S43-23

At 14 is Platoon winger alex Light, who up to his point has had an incredibly consistent career, and now he has been able to add some championships to that resume to boot. Light scored 23 goals and 53 points, his second 50+ season in a row and fourth 20+ goal season in a row. He has been about as consistent as ever, even though his physical game has dropped off a cliff in recent years due to his aging body being unable to keep up with the young guns of the league.

13. (S30) C (Los Angeles Panthers) - Jean-Luc Reflieux || -3
Grade: 88.50
Past Seasons: S34-96, S35-97, S36-99, S37-43, S38-73, S39-61, S40-68, S41-32, S42-24, S43-10

Jean-Luc Reflieux comes in at 13, close but outside of the top-10. However, he has demonstrated a lot of consistency, scoring 50+ points the last four season and still remaining one of the more bruising forwards in the league at this point. But as his 60+ point season continues to fall back in the memories of experts he is going to need to do more to get himself back into the top 10. That will be even more difficult with regression taking its toll.

12. (S38) D (Texas Renegades) - Thé Dude || +29
Grade: 88.70
Past Seasons: S43-41

At 12 is Renegades defenseman Thé Dude, who has had one of the most meteoric rises of the top-100. Dude has only played four seasons in the league thus far, but already has two 40+ seasons, and just recently enjoyed a 13 goal season in S43, and to top it all off registered a career high 101 hits (his second best was 46 his rookie season). If there is a defensemen people need to be looking out for as far as the next generational defensemen, they may need to take a look at this dude.

11. (S31) D (Calgary Dragons) - Adam Kaiser || -3
Grade: 89.20
Past Seasons: S38-88, S39-42, S40-25, S41-7, S42-2, S43-8

At 11 is Dragons defenseman Adam Kaiser, failing to reach the top-10 despite being so close and having another incredible year. Kaiser scored 12 goals and 43 points, nearly identical to S42 where he scored 12 goals and 42 points, improved his defensive play with a +12 on the year, and was still somewhat solid as far as the intangibles of his game. However without having the same physical prowess we have seen from him in other seasons, he may see his chances at getting back into the top-10 become less likely with each passing season of regression.

10. (S31) RW (Calgary Dragons) - Joe Kurczewski || -8
Grade: 89.40
Past Seasons: , S37-44, S38-18, S39-18, S40-26, S41-2, S42-6, S43-2

9. (S37) D (San Francisco Pride) - Jack Tanner || +25
Grade: 90.50
Past Seasons: , S37-, S38-, S39-, S40-, S41-65, S42-21, S43-34

T-7. (S32) D (Winnipeg Jets) - Max Weber || +22

89. (S30) LW (Texas Renegades) - Conklin Owen || -28

88. (S37) LW (Edmonton Blizzard) - Hercules Rockefeller || +8

87. (S33) D (Seattle Riot) - Isaac Cormier-Hale || -12

84. (S25) C (Texas Renegades) - Jack Durden || Even
Grade: 72.40

82. (S35) LW (Hamilton Steelhawks) - Angelo Odjick || -14

81. (S36) C (Los Angeles Panthers) - Yuri Boyka Jr. || Even
Grade: 73.10
Past Seasons: S41-90, S42-75, S43-81

At 81 is Panthers center Yuri Boyka Jr., who sticks in the exact same ranking as the year before, surprisingly. Boyka Jr. scored 13 goals and 37 points, which is pretty similar to what he did last season, even if a little worse. His physical game and defensive game kept around the same, too, so it seems that this center may have found a comfortable spot on the list and isn't much willing to move.

80. (S28) D (New England Wolfpack) - Mia Landvik || -37

79. (S32) D (West Kendall Platoon) - Noctis Caelum || -16

78. (S36) RW (Calgary Dragons) - Roman Augustus || -23

77. (S36) RW (Texas Renegades) - Colton Hagan || -42

75. (S39) LW (Seattle Riot) - DeMaricus Smyth || +22

74. (S38) C (Buffalo Stampede) - Dermot Lavelle || +13

73. (S36) LW (Edmonton Blizzard) - Teddy Cuddles || +4

72. (S33) RW (Minnesota Chiefs) - Halfdan Thorstein || -27

71. (S37) RW (Texas Renegades) - Logan Jensen || +28

70. (S33) RW (Manhattan Rage) - Yuriy Starkonov || +18
