Way too much data about Rookie Origin

S45 SHL Rookies – Where are they from?
This article is informative and a bit all over the place, covers what team everyone is on, ideal vague layout predictions for WJC, stats for IIHF teams, and information on unassigned players. Not many words but I worked hard on the graphs, hope that counts for something. Also hope that someone gets use from this data, if not it was still fun. Thanks y'all and enjoy!
*Based on Rookies currently on a roster as of 15 November 2018
**Excluding Gareth Rush who might be ineligible for IIHF juniors? Not sure but he is left out.

Total Rookies : 43

First lets look at the totals (two players stated they play for Latvia although they were born elsewhere so their data says Latvia):

From here let add Wales into the United Kingdom (because it is in the UK)
Secondly, we will combine Slovenia, Italy, and Hungary into a Southern Europe group
We will also combine Jamaica and Costa Rica into an island group
Iceland and be added to Norway because the is the next closest country
Let us see where we stand now:

This chart gives us a vague look into how WJC might get broken up this upcoming off season. Given that a world team would be made this could be combined one final time to get less teams.

Let us also take a look into what this means for current IIHF teams.

Let us start with the largest influx of rookies – the United States

We have 10 rookies from the United States this is how they are broken up

From this you can tell they are going to get a lot of Defense help coming soon, hope they need it. After the defense is Right Wingers and they have a goalie, which in this draft is rare.

The second largest influx is Canada, lets see how that breaks down

Canada has a solid 5 rookies upcoming, with an almost even spread across the board it will work well to make a new line that can eventually move up the ranks (if they play well together)

Tied with the second largest influx is Latvia, so let us see how they look:

There is no Left Winger for Latvia but that will not slow them down, they look in a better situation then Canada given they will have a goalie as long as he can stay active.

Let us look at a category easily overlooked, Unassigned Players
Looking at the data, these players do not fit into an IIHF team currently, but good news is they can go anywhere. TPE information is as of 15 November 2018 based off the players update page. List from highest to lowest TPE.

258 LW Mika Mayfield – Italy
250 RW Hiro Fujikawa – Japan
229 D Sanyi Kocsis – Hungary
229 RW Nolan Sawchuk – Iceland
206 C Kenji Yoshimura – Japan
185 D Jacob Géza – Hungary
162 D Phil Mcrakin – Jamaica
155 (Inactive) D Julio Ruiz - Costa Rica
155 (Inactive) C Jurij Kovačič – Slovenia

Here are the facts I will let everyone else make their own opinion Smile

Good read, good article!

Team Germany would love to have an international transfer forward join our future ranks. Smile
