The End of season version of Something Positive About Every Team. Each team was sitting at 47-48 games played when this article was written. I would like to wait until after the final sim of the season, but I'll likely be too busy with schoolwork to write this Wednesday/later. Therefore, this article comes one sim before the end, so some things can change (seeding, points leaders) after the dust settles, but whatever. Pre-season version. Mid-season version

Stampede Buffalo Stampede Stampede
Alex Metzler The defenseman has 45 points (9 goals, 36 assists) through 48 games. He also has 162 hits and 66 shots blocked. His Average Minutes per Game is over 24 minutes per game. At 48 games, he has a 0 plus/minus rating, but that isn’t a knock on him as only 5 players have non-negative plus/minuses. Thanks to Metzler and his teammates’ efforts, the Stampede lead the league in hits per game at 20.79. Whereas the league average is 19.46 hits per games. Buffalo’s special teams are middle of the pack with the 6th best Power Play at 20.63% and 7th best Penalty Kill at 79.31% Missing the playoffs this season, the Stampede will spend the off-season improving and looking to bounce back in the Season 45.

Steelhawks Hamilton Steelhawks Steelhawks
Vijanupatan Singh Despite not getting the top minutes in Hamilton, 18.57 Average Minutes per Game, he leads the Steelhawks in scoring with 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists). Hamilton is shooting the puck way more than the rest of the league. The league average for Shots per game is 31.98 -- the Steelhawks are recording 38.66 shots for. They have over 4 more shots for than the 2nd place West Kendall Platoon, 34.19 shots for. Despite being near the middle of the pack in terms of Shots Against (6th 30.13 Shots Against), their Shots For / Against is first at 128.32%. Hamilton has the third seed and that will see them facing West Kendall in the first round. This is an intriguing matchup and could go either way.

Rage Manhattan Rage Rage
Jax Aittokallio Right in the race for rookie of the year, Jax Aittokallio has been a force for Manhattan this season. Early on, he was a big reason for their successes, along with other Manhattan youth. Manhattan has also been playing disciplined hockey, being below the league average Penalties in Minutes per game. Manhattan won’t be in the playoffs this season, but there’s a lot of room for optimism. The Rage showed their potential and what’s in store for the future. If they do not stall, Manhattan will be a playoff team soon, as early as next season.

Chiefs Minnesota Chiefs Chiefs
Playoffs and Scoring The Chiefs find themselves back in the Playoffs, and that is probably the biggest positive of S44. The Chiefs at times were on the outside looking in -- so, pulling out a good performance down the stretch has the Chiefs in the playoffs and they’re ready to make some noise. The forwards are scoring well, led by Noro Wozy with 48 points (21 goals, 27 assists), Terrance Nova also with 48 points (15 goals, 33 assists), Bobby Watson 43 points (19 goals, 24 assists), and Eric Pelletier at 40 points (11 goals, 29 assists). They are slightly below the league average in Goals For, but their top forwards are doing a good job helping win games, and that’s what matters.

Wolfpack New England Wolfpack Wolfpack
Tigole Bitties With 48 points, Bitties is one of the top scorers in the league. Bitties offensive threat helped the Wolfpack sniff the playoffs this season, but it was not enough to make them a playoff team. As the top center, Bitties is playing over 25 minutes per game. He’s had 168 hits and is shooting at 9.91%. Bitties a threat whenever he steps onto the ice, and that’s the reason he leads the league in Hits Taken at 159. Other teams specifically target Bitties to try and get him off his game.

Stars Toronto North Stars Stars
Top Seed Through 48 games, The North Stars have 64 points, 31 wins (30 in regulation). Their goals for is 133, and Goals Against 108. Of all the playoffs teams, Toronto has the fewest Goals For, but their Goals Allowed is also much lower than every other team in the league. Toronto isn’t scoring many goals, but they don’t have to, their style is limiting other teams in their scoring. This formula has proven to work really well for the North Stars as they look to head into the playoffs with home-ice advantage.

Platoon West Kendall Platoon Platoon
Dani Forsberg  The winger is up there towards the top of the league in scoring with 48 points (22 goals, 26 assists). Forsberg leads the SHL in hits with 218, with a comfortable 15 hit lead over the player in second. Similar to Hamilton, West Kendall is controlling the puck well. The Platoon is second in Shots For with 34.19 shots per game, and first in Shots Against with 28.77 shots per game. These two stats put them in second for Shots For / Shots Against at 118.86%.

Dragons Calgary Dragons Dragons
Mike Izzy The top center for Calgary is 3rd in scoring with 3 games remaining. Izzy might find himself as the leading scorer of the league and no one would be surprised. Izzy’s 51 points (18 goals, 33 assists) and 171 hits is very impressive. Izzy is scoring, helping his line mates score, and punishing opponents. Izzy’s play is well-rounded and is a big reason behind Calgary’s success. Also scoring well is Joe Kurczewksi’s 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists), and Roman Augustus (21 goals, 21 assists). Calgary’s Kata Vilde and Richard C. Hocolate have been a great tandem, Hocolate sits at a 0.925 save percentage, 2.15 goals allowed average and with a 11-5-1 record. Kata Vilde, a rookie, has a 16-11-3 record, 0.919 save percentage and a 2.57 goals allowed average. The Dragons hold off Texas and secure the 4th seed in the West. They will take on the Edmonton Blizzard, and despite finishing with far fewer points than Edmonton, anything can happen in the playoffs, and this match up is as good as they get.

Blizzard Edmonton Blizzard Blizzard
Best in the league The Blizzard sit at 68 points through 47 games. They lead the SHL in goals for at 178 and goal differential at 50. Oisin Fletcher leads the Blizzard in scoring at 52 points (24 goals, 28 assists), Teddy Cuddles right behind him at 49 points (21 goals, 28 assists) and Tor Truck not far behind at 46 points(12 goals, 34 assists). Their Goals For/ Goals Against is at a very impressive 139.06%. The Blizzard have a lot of things to be positive about and look sharp heading into the S44 Playoffs. The Blizzard will take on the Calgary Dragons in the first round. With home ice advantage, the Blizzard fans have to be excited to see how this goes down. No team is a guaranteed lock, but all things are looking mighty positive for Edmonton at the moment.

Panthers Los Angeles Panthers Panthers
Sophia Bennett Currently tied for leading scorer in the SHL, Bennett’s 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) is helping the Panthers rack up the victories. Sophia Bennett has also been playing a physical game with 134 hits and 79 hits taken. Playing just a bit over 24 minutes per game, Bennett has been an absolute difference maker in several of the Panthers’ games this season. Right behind her in scoring is top centerman, Matthew Auston, with 47 points (22 goals, 25 assists). The duo accounts for 27% of the Panthers’ total goals.  Their dominant campaigns this season have led the Panthers back to the playoffs, ready to make some noise again.

pride San Francisco Pride pride
The future The Pride aren’t quite there yet, but have recently made the future look a little brighter with the addition of Isak Ødegård. Ødegård was one of the positives of Minnesota earlier in the season, so his addition to the Pride’s roster is a big plus for them. Also playing well is Kelly Rivet, as always, and Leshaun King. Leshaun King is having a great rookie campaign with 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists) and has earned his coaches favor enough to play nearly 21 minutes per game. Focusing only on the standings, it might be seen as a let down, but considering all things, the outlook in San Francisco is good.

Riot Seattle Riot Riot
Alexander Zajac With a 10.27 shooting percentage, Zajac has 15 goals, 24 assists (39 points) and leads the Riot in scoring. Zajac plays a bit over 24 minutes per game. Seattle is out of it this season, but Zajac is playing well, regardless. There has been indications that a change in management is coming, and while that can cause a positive or negative reaction within a fan base, the Seattle fans must be content with the possibility of change for the good. A change could be the thing Seattle needs for getting back on track.

Renegades Texas Renegades Renegades
Louie Garrett For a long time, Garrett was the big positive in Seattle, now he’s stealing the show in Texas. With 13 games as a Renegade he has 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists). Garrett isn’t alone in scoring well, Conklin Owen has 44 points (20 goals, 24 assists), Liam O’Callaghan also has 44( 14 goals, 30 assists) and Vasily Horvat has 40 points (15 goals, 25 assists). On the verge of being a 40 point scorer, Logan Jensen, leads Texas in plus/minus rating with a +20 rating. Texas is on the outside looking in at this point, but with the smart move of adding Garrett, the Renegades are likely to be in a better spot next season.

Jets Winnipeg Jets Jets
First line, scoring, and special teams The first line of Corey Bearss - Jason Visser - Maurizio Arrivabene is doing the job for the Jets. The scoring is plentiful with the forwards -- Visser sits at 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists), Arrivabene with 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists), Corey Bearrss with 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists), and number-two centerman Zach Evans with 44 points (14 goals, 30 assists). The Jets are 2nd in Goals for with 3.34 goals per game, tied for 3rd in Goals Agaisnt with 2.72 goals per game -- good enough for 3rd in Goals For / Goals Against (122.66%). The Powerplay is at a nice 25.00% (4th in the league) and the Penalty Kill is at 83.08%. Together, the Powerplay + Penalty Kill is second in the league at 108.08%, not far behind the Dragons at 108.29%. The Jets ended up finishing in the 3rd seed, looking strong and having a good goal differential. They will take on the Los Angeles Panthers in the first round and will need to see their first line come out strong to put the Panthers away.

This is a really fun read. It gives both playoff teams and non-playoff teams something to be excited about. Hope you continue to do this in the future!
