S43 Playoff Jets Vs S44 Playoff Jets
#1

With one round to go, today I take a look at each player on the Jets and compare this playoffs to their season the year prior. I will give out 4 ranks: BETTER, WORSE, SAME, or NAJLY or Not a Jet Last Year.

Crossfit Jesus:
In S43 CFJ led the jets with 22 points in 17 games. He had 16 assist and 6 goals, and was without a doubt the MVP of the playoffs and for the jets. He averaged 22.6 minutes per game.
In S44 CFJ has had a large drop in production. He is 9th on the Jets with 6 points in 12 games. With 3 assist and 3 points, his production has suffered greatly since being demoted off the top line. He still manages about 22 minutes per game. The lack of production for CFJ is only a personal problem, as the Jets have still made the finals and it seems as if the scoring has been more spread out.
Ranking before the finals series: WORSE on paper.

Pietra Volkova:
In S43 PV managed 13 goals and 7 assist for 20 points in 17 games. Only being 2 points behind CFJ, PV had an amazing playoffs averaging 20 minutes per game and being a cornerstone for the Jets.
In S44 Production for PV has dropped, but is number one in points for the Jets in 12 games with 12. This is on par with the PPG pace set from the year prior. The average minutes per game are still around 20.
Ranking before the finals series: SAME on paper.

Kire Yelkrab
In S43 KY got 1 assist, 1 point, and had 16 minutes per game on average.
In S44 KY became Jelly.
Ranking before the final series: WORSE, they aren’t a Jet!
Troy McClure III
In S43 the self proclaimed Rookie of the Year on the Jets by process of elimination managed 1 assist in 17 games played. Troy was +/- 0, with 15 minutes played on average.
In S44 the still self proclaimed Rookie of the Year on the Jets by process of elimination (even with it not being true on so, so many levels) Troy tripled his production with 1 goal and 2 assists in 12 games played. Troy is a +5, and is playing about 18 minutes per game on average.
Ranking Before the final series: BETTER!

So on paper, a lot of players are “down” however, I think the Jets have the best balanced lineup on the ice. Teams with fatigued top lines do poorly against our top lines that get plenty of rest. It is also worth looking into the players who have scored game winning goals. Last season the Jets depended on Pietra Volkova to score, with 3 game winners in 17 games. You could argue that a whole series was won on PV’s back. This season, the Jets have 8 Game winning goal scorers. E.I.G.H.T. it is hard to cover a top line when it is spread across 3 lines, and I think, unlike last year, our dynamic lines will help us get over the last Platoon shaped hump.

Oh, and we got Spitfire, who has anchored our back end like… an anchor?
