Holiday PT - Seasons Greetings!
#16

With his family stuck back in Calgary for Christmas due to visa issues, Nick Brain was left in Denver staying with his billets. They had to leave to Salt Lake City for their own Christmas celebrations though, so he invited several of his fellow teammates (also unable to spend Christmas with their families) to join him in Denver for a holiday feast. While a bit unorthodox, Nick was a surprisingly proficient cook, and used his mother's British recipes to make a worthy meal. Roast beef, bacon wrapped sausages, roast potatoes, honeyed carrots, cranberry sauce, and a small amount of plum pudding for dessert. It was delicious, and all of them gave thanks for the food, the friends and family, and the opportunity to chase their hockey dreams as part of the Colorado Raptors.

After the last game of the fiscal year is over, Jøln DuBølk will be eager to get back home by Christmas day. Why you may ask? Well...the annual hockey tournament with his family, of course!

Every year, he and his family, immediate and extended, play a 3-on-3 tournament. Jøln, one of the team captains, always tries to pick his father, as it is usually the only time during Jøln's busy schedule to get to play with him (he has a very deep relationship with him). The winner of the tournament wins the greatest prize of all: absolute bragging rights until the next tournament.

Christmas has never been a grand tradition for Frank Mouette, often times he would spend the holidays with his closest friends utilizing the extra holidays to go on trips to various places around North America. A few years ago he went to Banff to ski, another time he went to Circle Lake to ice-fish. This year is different though, all of Mouette's family is getting to together to celebrate the season conventionally with turkey, gift exchanges, stockings, watching Christmas movies, and all other things associated with the holiday before he has to move away from home for good.

Being just drafted, Mathias Seger couldn't just fly back to Europe again to spend the holidays with his family, as he usually would. Luckily the outlaws did organize a Chrismas party for all their young players. His memories of the party are fuzzy, but they involve a lot of alcohol, beer pong, shouting and singing. Also he's pretty sure that the team's two goalies got in a competition involving a soap bubble machine. The face time conversation with the whole family back home in the following morning also had some comedic value. Mike Hunt was laughing loudly in the background, while Mathias tried to keep it together and wish his grandmother a merry Christmas. Overall it was a wonderful start into a new life overseas.

Christmas in korea for many is a pretty wild time, the smebs are no exception. Being international superstars helps their ego and their ability to party with anyone they want. Usually they first go to the 7/11 and buy some condoms and pills cuz thats what all the koreans do aparently. then they go hang out with their buds and record a rap video, kit smeb uses autotune and makes the video way better. Anyway then they go party with all their korean friends, and eventually go to christmas dinner with mr. and mrs. smeb and the illigitimate son steve and its a great time. they eat beef.

After spending all his contract money on equipmen, there was no chance that Knute Knurtsson would be abel to afford plane tickets to fly home to sweden and celebrate Christmas. Lucky him Nick Brain @StadiumGambler had invited the rookies over for Christmas dinner. With nothing else to do Knurtsson gladly went over for some free food. Nick had cooked all the food himself, and surprisingly good. It stood clear to Knute that Nick, being from the great Isles of the Britains he surely had some Gordon Ramsey genes that he han brought with him to the Uniting states of Americans. Nick had cooked some foods Knute had never eaten before. Such as bacon wrapped sausages, roast potatoes, honeyed carrots and cranberry sauce. All very tastey ofcourse.

Happy holidays everyone!

David Vent is a very simple guy during the holidays. Usually, he will come home and his whole family will get together at his parent's house. The family would get together to have a family game of floor hockey and compete for the prized trophy of grandmas apple pie. When it becomes later in the game he will go out to a bar with a bunch of his former teammates and his school friends he has made along in his life. They will go around talking about what has been going on in their lives and just spending time together. To end the night David and his former teammates will go to their old pond ice rink and skate around and have a blast shooting around and cracking jokes.

Touncie Bitties is new to Canada, just moving from Austria to join his new team the Halifax Raiders. In Austria he would spend a traditional Austrian Christmas with his then girlfriend Ivona Smirnov and her family. They always made him feel welcomed and loved, and he loved their family tradition brought from Russia, Christmas Smirnoff shots! Touncie had a rough family life with his father Tigole already being in the SHL and his mother always working the club, and yes she worked on Christmas. Surprisingly a very busy day where she worked, so she would never deny the money. This year he hopes to start a new tradition with his father in his new home. But he hopes the Smirnoff Christmas shot will stay a thing

Cotalay, a Long Beach, California native, likes to spend the holidays with his family. Coming from a large extended family, about 50 people gather at Cotalay's house on Christmas Eve to celebrate the holiday. Everyone brings a dish to share with the rest of the family, and Cotalay's favorite is his aunt's Chinese Chicken Salad. Once everyone finishes eating, they all gather in the living room around the Christmas tree to open presents. The gifts begin with a surprise visit from Santa Clause, a job that Cotalay will do this year. It is his first time doing it as usually, it is one of his uncles or his father. However, Cotalay is happy to do it as he knows how much joy it brings to his little cousins.

Once the holidays are over, Cotalay is excited to get back into rhythm with the Anchorage Armada.

Bobby Sharp has the best of both a traditional American Christmas experience and a Swedish one (his grandparents on his mother’s side are Swedish). For him, this starts early with a St. Lucia’s day celebration on the 13th. This involves a Church like singing ritual and drinking and eating of wine and Swedish saffron buns. This is later followed by dinner and present exchanges at his grandparents house on Christmas eve. Christmas day things shift towards an American celebration, with a traditional day of drinking, football watching, feasting, and of course more presents. Another Sharp tradition is the outdoor hockey game before Christmas dinner where Bobby, his brother, and his cousins all play a game of posts outside. Bobby’s team has won 9 of the 10 games he’s played in.

During the holiday season Oleg spends time with his family back in Russia. He enjoys going home to wrestle bears and eat traditional Russian meals. This year on his trip home from Halifax, Oleg looks forward to buying his parents a new home and building an outdoor rink for his hometown to enjoy. He is very excited to see his brother who he has not seen in a few years because he is in the Russian Federal Protection Services and rarely gets to leave his post. Oleg looks forward to bringing home souvenirs from his native land back to his teammates in Halifax!

Matt isn't interested much in the holiday spirit. However his new billet family in Halifax invited him to celebrate this year's Christmas among them. The family of four loves to decorate the house and bake holiday themed goods. Kholin's only passion is hockey and fortunately the family lives nearby an outdoor ice rink. Playing hockey outside on a cold night makes him remember his younger years, when he used to play with friends and neighbors back home on a similar sheet of ice. The difference now however, is that he will join his fellow Raiders to Halifax next week to start his junior years.
