The Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary is a pretty decent place for the Calgary Dragons to play. Due to the extreme success of the Dragons over the past 20 some seasons the fan base has become somewhat apathetic, being used to the same standards all the time. The parking is good, the seats are comfortable, you can see the ice well from just about anywhere. The biggest issue that needs to change to get the fans back to being excited again is the concessions. The Beer prices have gone up over the seasons and with a younger team and a lower payroll the Dragons need to reduce the beer prices. Lets face it more beer means rowdier fans. The food is also just the same old bland arena food so it definitely needs and upgrade. It all starts with the massive new Captain Lou parm, a 24" monster chicken parm. Also on the menu will be parm pizza, parm nachos and deep fried parm on a stick. Rumor has it they're even testing a parm milkshake and parm sundaes for desert. With such an exciting new menu and cheap beer it won't be long before the Saddledome is rockin with rowdy Dragon fans once again.

I play for the Seattle Riot. Our stadium is a dump. One of the smallest in the SHL, with a paltry capacity of just over 17,000, the Key Arena, while it has a great atmosphere, needs to be replaced. So, what I have in mind is simple: demolish the arena and build a new stadium that can seat 30,000. Now, the Riot wouldn't have to pay the $2 billion cost for building the new SoftBank stadium, because the Japanese banking conglomerate would pay for it themselves. The stadium would be able to seat 15,000 in the lower bowl, 14,000 in the upper bowl, and 1,000 in the 25 suites located in the building. Amenities added would include a revamped club store, free WiFi for all, improved bathrooms, and better restaurants (now including 5 Starbucks locations on the first floor alone). The hope for this arena is that it would reinvigorate interest in a Riot team falling headfirst into a rebuild and generate more money.

The Anaheim Outlaws are the newest team in the SMJHL but are also old at the same time. The Outlaws had to reopen their old arena in Anaheim after the team was created again, and so the team are playing at the Honda Centre again. To make it suitable for a modern team after so long out the team installed new screens and totally outfitted the whole arena to get it up to a new modern standard. After 30 seasons of not playing there it was in a bad kinda way but the Outlaws have got things back up to scratch and are ready to welcome fans back with a smarter place to watch a game. The team also installed a new soundsystem to make sure the music gets played at a deafening level. They thought about fucking with the away locker room for when the Lions are in town but we know we don't need to pull any cheap shit to beat them so we decided against it

The Hamilton Steelhakws play in the Copps Coliseum, which first opened in 1985. The sad reality is that you can only upgrade a stadium so much before a complete rebuild is needed. I am proposing a brand new, multipurpose arena being built in Hamilton that can hold the Steelhawks, but also additional events such as concerts, an arena football team, and indoor soccer. We’ll have a state of the art jumbotron with an on ice projector for those awesome multimedia shows that seem to be all the rage today. Concessions will be best in the SHL offering a multitude of options of both traditional and non-traditional stadium fare such bibimbap, kimchi fried rice, penne pesto pasta, and Paninis. The stadium will offer in seat service in the lower bowl and suites. Bathrooms will be ample, featuring 1.5 times more stalls in the women’s bathroom than usual. Additionally, unisex bathrooms will be placed throughout to offer clean and family friendly options for parents.

Opened in 1983, the George M. Sullivan Arena (or “The Sully”) definitely shows it’s age. And while the resurgence of hockey in Anchorage has been slow, it has been steady, and it’s more than likely that the ~6,500 capacity will be insufficient in a couple of years. We propose that The Sully go through major renovations. Firstly, many of the essentials should be updated- more efficient climate control, water/power-saving utilities, etc. Not only would this replace the decrepit systems currently being used, but would overall reduce operating cost long term. Additional economically friendly systems can be installed such as photovoltaic panels as well as a “green” roof. Secondly, an increase in seating capacity should be made. While the Sully can hold 8,750 people in it’s basketball format, it can only hold 6,490 for hockey. We propose that the arena be renovated to hold 15,000 people for its max capacity, and 10,000 for hockey. This would require demolishing the west and South facing walls of the ice surface to expand seating. This would also allow for the opportunity to build new concessions, team rooms, or any other facilities needed. Thirdly, an overall update to facility equipment and equipment. This would make The Sully appeal to more potential tenants. Along with the SMJHL Anchorage Armada, one very interested potential tenant is the University of Alaska- Anchorage, located just up the street.

Estimated renovation cost: $100 Million.
Though it is a high cost, this budget would allow for state-of-the-art equipment, and with a lot of interest in a higher capacity venue, costs should be recuperated after 7 years. With multiple tenants, more events, and the possibility of a finally getting a primary sponsor for the arena, the proposed renovations would be a cornerstone for an ever growing Anchorage community.

American Airlines Arena.

1) The name just won't do. You can't have your arena sitting there with such a corporate/ generic name as your teams main playing area/ symbol. It needs a new name, what name is that? Well something that has to show the pride in the Platoon while rolling off the tongue. Seeing as this place is already named, before we give a name lets move onto point #2....

2) A new arena. First of all we have a hockey arena in virtually one of the worst areas ever, being in florida, so maintaining ice is always an issue. What makes it worse? Sharing the arena with a basketball team. So lets start fresh, make an arena strictly for hockey, with an attached practice facility and amenities for the team and fans alike. A super arena, akin to what we see with Edmonton in that secondary league the "NHL". Now we can rename it.

3) The new Arena and massive complex will be the largest of it's kinda, Offering a total of 25,000 seats and an 'affordable' fan section to help those out who don't want to be shut out by the 'suits'. The new Area, is now dubbed "THE BARRACKS".

I think the Vancouver Whalers is a pretty easy example for this. They still play at the very dated Pacific Colosseum which is on the outskirts of Vancouver, when Rogers Arena is downtown and not in use by another team. Move the team there, it might be a bit of a big venue for smjhl hockey, but if the only team in the city of Vancouver is a juniors team, people will go. They are definitely more likely to go if it's right down town near a sky train station like Rogers Arena is. As for sponsorship, I don't see an issue with sticking with Rogers. It can change to anything really and have no affect, I just think they should be downtown and in a bigger arena than where they are now. Unless a SHL team goes there, then give them the big place and stick with the outskirts.

The Buffalo Stampede have opted to go against the norms seen throughout the hockey world and have decided to play their entire season outside in a renovated pig pen. Considering the messiness of their team's play the previous season with the amenities provided by ownership, to show off their displeasure with how the season turned out, the Stampede ownership have opted to have the players play where their on ice performance would find a natural home.

This short term solution has faired well as the opposing teams have struggled skating on the muddy surface as the Stampede start out 2-0 for the season. People say that Buffalo sucks, but the people of Buffalo are excited that they can finally show off just how much they stink, but win games at the same time. The once a punishment now a feature is being celebrated by ownership as viewership and costs are at an all time high. Buffalo will still have a hard time recruiting future free agents and rookies to their club, but at least they are winning games.

To say the stadium in Kelowna is in dire need of an upgrade and redecoration is putting it lightly. The Prospera Place either needs a renovation, or Kelowna needs a new stadium entirely. One of the main keys to Kelowna's new stadium would need to be added seats in order to accommodate a growing Knights fanbase and ever growing ticket sales. Additionally, the building of a new stadium would need a long parade of bars and restaurants nearby to help bolster the local economy of Kelowna.

Simply building a new stadium would be a better bet for Kelowna, having a capacity of 14,000 seats would encourage Kelowna citizens to come watch their Knights play in the SMJHL. Also, a new jumbotron and concession stands that offer much more than just mediocre Bud Light and trash hot dogs would be wonderful to help boost in-stadium sales for the owners.

Fly higher with the Detroit Falcons in the newly renovated Jet Blue Airways Center. The JBAC is on the older side but it is a building, like many others in the Detroit area, teeming with history and tradition. So, we are looking to tear down and start anew but rather bring this building into 2019 with the style it deserves. Jet Blue is a proper sponsor for the Falcons and we look for a slight rename of "The Nest" sponsored by Jet Blue Airlines.

The Nest will feature a completely redone concourse featuring the finest food and beers the Detroit area has to offer. Motor City Brewing Works is brewing a special new beer, Detroit Fly HighPA, available only at the stadium. To decorate the concourse, we will be celebrating the rich history of not only the Falcons but all of Detroit. The concourse and bathrooms will also be equipped with the finest flatscreens so that you don't have to miss any of the game buying another drink or taking care of business.

All of our seating will be redone to provide a more comfortable experience to our fans. Our new seats will be the tops compared to all the other stadiums in the SMJHL. We are also excited to announce that we will be opening up the space between the penalty benches as special ice level seating.

We are sure that these redesigns will surely make both the people of Detroit and the Falcons very proud.

MSG is one of the most historic arenas in the world but could use some additions to benefit the Manhattan Rage. Brooklyn Carter, former first round pick of the Rage has been tasked to design and handle construction at the new arena. The locker rooms have been completely redone, with fresh wood and new paint. Some spots in the arena still had the old polar bear logo that has been rebranded so that had to be removed and replaced with the new bull logo. The seating capacity was increased by just a hundred seats as there has been an uptick in attendance now that the GM has sold some false hope of playoffs again. With extra funds the machine for the ice has been updated and the temperature system in the arena has been improved for better quality ice. A wall of history has been added to MSG for the Rage which honors their past cup wins and honored players. A completely updated weight room that doesn't seem as if it was straight out of S15 will do wonders.

Being apart of the LA Panthers the Staples Arena is quite new so I wouldn't relocate or move the arena. It's a beautiful place just only has one ugly thing about it. The name... Staples Arena. Staples is a company that has office supplies, technology needs and even offers tech support for devices purchased through them or other providers. But let's face it, Staples the corporation just does not have that buy in power like it used to have. So without further ado I would like to announce our new sponsor ... Apple. It will simply be known as the iDome because Apple Arena was boring and not hip for Apple.

During the change over the Apple logo on the arena will broadcast the latest Apple products and inside the arena each seat will have a tablet that our guests can use to order food, beverages and other product right from the latest Apple App "Panthers Jungle" which without having to leave your seat and miss any of the action you can buy goodies right from your seat and they will be delivered right to your seat. The goal of all this is that one of the key stores will be Apple's most advanced Apple Store ever will also be located within the arena. So while cheering on this amazing team, you can buy the latest iPhone too, or that tablet you've been playing on during the game getting special stats and etc.

The players themselves will also get the latest swag from Apple every year because Apple wants the players to show off their product too!

At this point, the Manhattan Rage play in Madison Square Garden, sharing the stadium with the New York Knicks, the New York Rangers, and the St. Johns Red Storm; suffice it to say it is quite the packed house. Basically the Rage have two courses of action; first, they can stay in Madison Square Garden, an established spot in the middle of New York City, a landmark of the sporting mecca that is New York City. Or, they could try and convince the city or a neighboring town to put up some money to build a new stadium, which although would be only the Rage’s, comes with the drawback that the stadium would not have as much incentive to add new features, due to the lack of attendance from multiple sports that Madison Square Garden has. So although its crowded, I think the clear choice is to stay in Madison Square Garden. You can’t put a price on that kind of central location, especially in New York City, where they would be paying a premium to try and build a new stadium. I think the biggest demand that the Rage need to make would just be a little modernization by the stadium, but honestly for now even if they didn’t it wouldn’t be the biggest deal.
