PGS S45 Game 43: St.Louis vs Lethbridge
#16

Comment 1: The Bright Side

The Lethbridge Lions have been struggling all season long in the shot total departments and have been massively getting outshot by their opponents. Here we see them start to turn this stigma around by actually managing to outshoot St. Louis which translated to the winning tally of 5-3. The player most responsible for this amazing turn around for the Lions is non other than Joe Joestar notching himself two goals and an assist with a 100% shooting percentage on this game. The whole second- line for the Lions was buzzing tonight all contributing something to this wonderful win , with decent contributions from Aparjode on the first line. The Lions forward group looked on fire in this match-up and St.Louis just couldnt keep pace no matter how hard they tried having chased Billy Sorokin with 4 goals on 13 shots and then netting one against backup Aleistar Cain.

Comment 2: The Dark Side
My oh my the Lions may have one but what is going on with their special teams. The Lions powerplay was only capable of a 20% conversion rate on the powerplay with only 1 goal in 5 attempts while St. Louis outmatched them getting themselves 2 goals on 5 attempts for a solid 40% conversion rate. What this also means for the special team comparison is that the Lions pk struggled to keep the puck out of their net with an abyssmal 60% PK this game. Luckily they managed to win however mistakes like this won't always work out in their favour as it is clear that their special teams need work. In the meantime stay out of the box if you want to win these hockey games as they might not all go so smoothly as you could hope.

Comment 3: Goaltender Matchup

The Lions starting their back-up goalie in a rare appreance was an interesting one has Nadeau was given some much needed rest by the coaching staff. JLW played their best allowing 3 goals on 20 shots which given isn't the greatest but what is most important is the W that it gave the Lethbridge Lions. It was to be expected as LJW has seen very little action and games meaning that the Lions goalie was probably rusty however got the job done. The Scarecrows had an extremely off night and you have got to feel sorry for Sorokin who looked visibly upset when he got yanked and I predict the next game he plays he will play with a vengeance. Cain came in as the replacement to Sorokin who looked confident however to little to late as the Lions already had a substantial lead and one that the Scarecrows couldn't make up.
