S45 PT #5 - SHL Global

I'd suggest having two teams play in Paris, France. It's a market that doesn't see a lot of grade A hockey aside from TV and online, so I think it would sell out whatever size arena you throw it in. For the teams I'd try to find one with some French players, not actually sure of many off the top of my head, so without knowing which teams have recognizable players I'd suggest just picking two of the strongest teams in the league in the Edmonton Blizzard and the West Kendall Platoon. These teams showed how dominant they can be this season so what better way to show off the leagues talent then to put the two strongest teams in the league up against each other in an overseas battle. Also the fatigue from the tournament might bring these two juggernauts back down to earth in the standings.

To represent the ever growing SHL, I want to bring it to my home country of Germany. Germany is always underrated for being a country that’s passionate about hockey, but truth is. They love the game over there, there is so much excitement when the team gets to show up on an international stage, and it’s importnst we can showcase the SHL to a new market that can one day produce some great talent. I have chosen Edmonton and Calgary to go over there cause what better way to get people into the game than a historical rivalry that is one of the most intense rivalries in the sports world. These two games will not only show off the intensity of the SHL game, but also show off some of the best talent in the SHL, two star studded lineups going head to head. It doesn’t get any better

If the SHL is going to be making any kind of play toward the international scene, there's only one logical location. Sure, we've had greats in the SHL for Finland, Sweden, Russia and more. However, there's only one place that truly deserves a place among the annals of time like this.

Latvia.

In S12, Lauris Prikulis made his way over into the then-NWJHL. He was drafted in S13 to the Winnipeg Jets and proceeded to lead what has been defined as the latvian revolution which brought the likes of Oliver Pettyfer, Kriss Labsvards, Roberts Birkavs, Vuro Vlaters/Kian Hamilton, Vladislav Smirnov and many others. When it came to the SHL in the teen seasons, it was either you're covered in Latvians or you were one of "those" people. Latvians ruled the world.

Meanwhile, the SHL never made an attempt to go to Latvia and build their brand in what is likely their greatest international market. Until now, that is. The teams I would choose are simple, the message is simple.

Winnipeg Jets versus Calgary Dragons.
Prikulis and Smirnov will be honored before the game by an honorary puck drop and photo op.

The two teams who committed thoroughly to the Latvian revolution, who embodied all it was about battling it out in Latvia. They're the two biggest brands in Latvia, guaranteed, and would be absolutely beloved there. This is the moment the SHL has been waiting for, and it's a moment they need to strike at while they can. We thank Latvia and the Latvian people for all of their contributions and commitment to the SHL with the biggest game ever played.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

When it came down to deciding a place to play this international series, clearly the only place to play it was right in Helsinki, Finland. Finland has a rich hockey tradition, and it’s a super cool place to visit too. On top of that, Finland is usually a big contender for IIHF medals, historically. So it makes lots of sense to head there for a two game series. Who’s playing you ask? Well, the SHL Head Office has decided to send the Edmonton Blizzard and Calgary Dragons overseas. The Blizzard is a slam dunk choice, as the just set a record for most points in an SHL season. Not to mention they have a nice rivalry with the Dragons already. Calgary is fantastic choice because Dragons leader Esa Anrikkanen is still outrageously popular in his home country, and the Finns are proud that the greatest player in SHL history came from their homeland. It’ll sure be a fun one that will be watched all over the world. (167)

The Tampa Bay barracuda will play the stampede on the earth's core to fight for which team can tank the best. It's not a place where many people survive, but considering the amount of heat both teams seem to get, the earth's core under the mantle wouldn't bother them too much

Unfortunately many fans won't get to see their favorite teams play as they'd be dead, but there is talk of televising the match via thermo imaging. Because of how cold the players have been on the respective sides, the imaging will contrast well against the heat signature of the screen. This is less about making the sport globalized to increase viewership, this is purely to see which team sucks more.

As a way to do this you are tasked to choose a location outside of North America where two teams will play a home and home weekend series! You have also been given the responsibility of choosing what 2 teams will play each other on the international stage! In 150 words or more talk to us about the destination you choose and what 2 teams did you decide on to represent the league.

Design: Create a preview poster of the upcoming game outside of North America. poster should include a graphical representation of the 2 teams playing, the destination there playing at and wording about the details of the upcoming event.

For the Intercontinental Face-off Games the SHL won't be pitting two SHL Franchises against each other as the idea is to grow the league in outside countries. That means the PWHL, The Premier World Hockey League is an 8-Team International Hockey League that features teams from all around the world. The PWHL has chosen, the Perth Predators as their host at their brand new state of the art Ice Arena, the Tesla Energy Arena will host the SHL's Los Angeles Panthers in a FOUR Game series with two games in Perth and two games in Los Angeles. The idea of the games is to grow the visibility of the wonderful game of Ice Hockey across this planet. Away Games will be available online streaming at shlpwhlfaceoff.com

This was an easy one for us to pick. The Los Angeles Panthers have some ties with Sweden and even have a couple Swedish players so it was a no brainer when choosing which team would go. The other team that was chosen was the New England Wolfpack who also has some heavy ties with Sweden and some Swidish players. The first game the Los Angeles Panthers are at home in Gothenburg one of the bigger arenas and the second game where the New England Wolfpack will be home is going to be played in Malmö (biggest arena). It was a tossup between which teams got to be home where but in the end it came down to a coin toss between the captains of the team. Bennett lost the toss which wasn’t a big deal to her because it is such an honour to even be able to do this. Hopefully the Panthers came pull up with 2 wins.
