Weekend Funtime: The GOAT List
#16

The GOAT list

1. Calgary making the playoffs in 20 of 21 seasons.
2. Alonzo Garbanzo's 1738 blocks (438 more then 2nd place)
3. Thadeus Prince has a 29-4-1 lifetime SHL record in net.
4. Kelowna winning 3 straight 4 star cup championships (S40-43)
5. ToeDragons 2285 TPE (most TPE in league history)
6. Irelands 3 straight IIHF gold medals (S42-Present)
7. Wasty's 31 seasons as the GM of the Panthers.
8. Danny Foster's 7 Turd Fergeson Awards.

Explanation: In my opinion this record of Calgary to be in 20 of 21 seasons playoff is INSAYNE and I really believe this record wont be broken in the near future. Garbo his shot blocks number is really impressive. Sorry for GCool but his 7 Turd Ferguson Awards also means the most PIMs and with that he did never help his time during sitting in the penalty box or get ejected. So this is in my opinion a pure negativ award because this award show the league which player give per season the most disadvantage to their own team.

The GOAT list

1.Kelowna winning 3 straight 4 star cup championships (S40-43)
2.Irelands 3 straight IIHF gold medals (S42-Present)
3.ToeDragons 2285 TPE (most TPE in league history)
4.Thadeus Prince has a 29-4-1 lifetime SHL record in net.
5.Alonzo Garbanzo's 1738 blocks (438 more then 2nd place)
6.Wasty's 31 seasons as the GM of the Panthers.
7.Calgary making the playoffs in 20 of 21 seasons.
8.Danny Foster's 7 Turd Fergeson Awards.

Explanation:
1. No 1 has won three in a row until Kelowna has done, a lot of teams have came close but no cigar. 2. Same as number one, pretty much in my opinion. 3. Most TPE ever is an honor that impressive as there is 200+ active members and more players in SHL History. 4. This just damn interesting/ 5. I'm on pace to break it with less minutes played and I think others are too. 6. 1 cup though 7. Hamilton has made the playoffs 20 out of 21 seasons too. 8. Pretty easy to do when you make an enforcer.

-Kelowna winning 3 straight 4 star cup championships (S40-43)

Guess I gotta explain some stuff.

Toe's ridiculous tpe count is self explanatory. It's ridiculous. Likewise, Garbo's sb count is head and shoulders above everyone else. Nerf Calgary, how the fuck has wasty been going for so long, etc etc.

I put Foster at the bottom because it's pretty easy to rack up most PIMs in a league where most people are actively trying to avoid them.

How the fuck do you even acclimate 2285 TPE? This man is the most enormous chungus the likes of which the SHL has never seen or will likely ever see again. And that my friends is undisputed.

Explanation: I know crybabies who are on bad federations will say that IIHF doesn't matter but few teams even make 3 straight gold medal games, let alone win them. The last was Sweden in S27-29. Building Ireland of all places into an IIHF behemoth is definitely the most impressive thing on this list, let's not forget that before S37 Ireland had exactly 1 medal of any type - Gold in S23. From S37 to present they've gotten 3 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronze. Garbanzo's 2nd because SBs are a bigger indicator of being on a bad team than anything else so playing that many seasons on that many bad teams and sticking with it is truly impressive. The rest are all pretty decent.

8. Thadeus Prince has a 29-4-1 lifetime SHL record in net.

Explanation:

It's hard to argue against the pure longevity of Wasty and Calgary's playoff dominance. That doesn't just happen, and it's really impressive to me. I have KEL at two because the SMJHL is so fickle, so winning a Four Star Cup is a total crapshoot. Winning three in a row is just ridiculous. I put Prince's goalie record last because there isn't the longevity, while the record is impressive. I put ToeDragon lower than many, because I think it's due in part to some TPE inflation over time. I don't think it's unheard of that someone could surpass Toe's record in the future.

The Four Star isn't a crap shoot when you trade away draft picks for "active" (players that stalled out at ~350 but will log in to sign a min contract that doesn't count as inactive) players. I'm sorry but people are crediting KEL way too much. I was in that LR for all three cup wins. The first was fun, second had a few actives, and the third was had basically no actives. The KEL discord by the third one was a few alums that talked but maybe one active player.

7.. -Irelands 3 straight IIHF gold medals (S42-Present)
8. -Kelowna winning 3 straight 4 star cup championships (S40-43)

Explanation:
As someone that TPE whores alot, with my earning I will cap out with around 2069 tpe the most. Toedragon ended with more than 200 tpe than me and Ive been tpe whoreing since the beginning. Huge props to him. Next is Wasty's reign at GMing. It takes a lot of time and dedication to GM for 31 seasons, and do it consistantly. NExt IS Garbanzo's all time shots block because of the sheer amount of SB from the next place. Then Calgary making the playoffs 20/21 seasons, that shows you the dynasty of Esa. Prince's life time record in next, then the Turd Fergeson. Irelands gold medals is a little bit more on the luck side than skill. Kelowna I will say a ocuple things. First the 1st time they won the 4 Star they still had a decent amount of actives. 2nd season not a lot, and the 3rd season it was mostly all inactives and people just signing on for 1 mil contracks. Mack Retired right after he won the cups because he didnt get enough TPE from is multiple saesons in the SMJHL. Looking at the tactics you see that they played the Rookies about 5 minutes a night, compared to some other cup winners that played rookeis around 10 minutes a night. Over those 3 seasons we havent seen a lot of Rookies make it out of the SMJHL and I say low ice time was because of that, and thats what the SMJHL is about, to create activity with high Ice time. And that is why I put it at #8. SMJHL is about promoting league growth, not filling up with inactives to push for a 4 star. For example the Whalers 4 Star Cup in they year after had almost everyone active playing. And a lot of them will be advancing to the SHL. Luke Thomason, Leitner, Mauldin, Jack Kennedy, Beiska, McCarthy, Tokek, Leppish, etc

3) Been playing a long time so not that amazing
4) Esa has been nothing if consistent
5) Only amazed there is an award for being bad at hockey
6) No idea who the fuck this is either
7) You think he'd have more to show for it
8) Im more shocked Kelowna hasn't won every cup since S20

7. Danny Foster's 7 Turd Fergeson Awards.
8. Wasty's 31 seasons as the GM of the Panthers.

Explanation: Garbanzo's lead over 2nd place is insane so that's clearly first in my book. Esa has done an incredible job in Calgary and it was the only one competitive with my first spot. Gotta give props to toe for his dedication. 3 straight championships is incredible and basically ties with Ireland in the next slot down. Prince has a great record. 7 Turd Fergeson's is impressive but kinda seems like it wouldn't be as tough to do by dumping a ton of TPE into checking and fighting. Last is Wasty, it's not a small feat to make it this long but once you are GM as long as you don't break rules you can kinda just stay there as long as you want regardless of outcomes... still impressive to grind that long though.

Explanation: This order is almost entirely random because I don't know what most of these things are nor do I know who most of these people are. What I do know is that GM'ing for 31 seasons is bonkers. I GM a team in NSFL and I cannot, even for a second, fathom spending even half that time running a franchise. Of course I say that now but who knows. Either way, 31 seasons = bonkers. That is all.

Explanation: I rate Ireland's three straight first because I'm so impressed no one has caught on to Evok's clear sim hacks, takes over simming IIHF in S42, plays for Ireland, wins three straight I mean c'mon.

ToeDragon's TPE mark is the greatest of all time. Since Simon T is absolutely unpredictable, I wanted to put more emphasis on individual effort over in game stats. That's why I have choices 1 and 3 where they are. That being said, making the playoffs 20 out of the last 21 seasons is very impressive as well, which is why that's at #2.

4. Kelowna winning 3 straight 4 star cup championships (S40-43)

7. Thadeus Prince has a 29-4-1 lifetime SHL record in net.
8. Calgary making the playoffs in 20 of 21 seasons.

Explanation: Longevity in a GM position is a rare thing, I salute Wasty for having the patience and fortitude to stick with something that isn't always as rewarding as you wish it could be and has a lot of heartbreak to go with it! Alonzo and Danny because these are a couple that I bet never get beaten. Kelowna next because GKG. Calgary gets ranked last because somehow there's something about Calgary is every single PT.
