Weekend Funtime: The GOAT List
#31

1 ToeDragons 2285 TPE (most TPE in league history)
2 Wasty's 31 seasons as the GM of the Panthers.
3 Calgary making the playoffs in 20 of 21 seasons.
4 Kelowna winning 3 straight 4 star cup championships (S40-43)
5 Alonzo Garbanzo's 1738 blocks (438 more then 2nd place)
6 Thadeus Prince has a 29-4-1 lifetime SHL record in net.
7 Danny Foster's 7 Turd Fergeson Awards.
...
999 Irelands 3 straight IIHF gold medals (S42-Present)

I put them in order of actual effort it took to reach those greatness. Toe's insane amount of TPE is quite amazing, wasty's patience is the best example of dedication you can have, Calgary's playoff appearance are without comparative. Kelowna is a mix of luck and work so that's why they are in the middle. After that, the three next are good, but not great. Exept 'being there', the players havent done anything special. They updated and got sim lucky to reach this.

I put ireland's feat last cause as @tweedledunn mentioned, i rig them!
(nah for real though they are streamed to GM so there's no rigging. Also, they'd have been 4th cause i know how hard it was to build this amazing team)

2. Alonzo Garbanzo's 1738 blocks (438 more then 2nd place)

6. Irelands 3 straight IIHF gold medals (S42-Present)
7. Wasty's 31 seasons as the GM of the Panthers.
8. Danny Foster's 7 Turd Fergeson Awards.

Explanation: To be honest, it is super impressive the amount of success that the Dragons have had over the last 20 seasons. To be able to make the playoffs 20/21 seasons is crazy considering it is very hard to keep a great team together. Props to Esa for his fantastic work.

Number one was easy for me. As the new Ireland Co this is a huge bar and not an easy one to get to. Number 2, yes I’m salty about it. But Playing in the Js has shown me how much of a power house KEL can be. Number 3, yes I have some bias because before I joined all I heard about was Calgary. One day all he’s ganna hear is Manhattan. Up next is 4, what pure dedication to the site and to his team. Number 5, easy. That’s such a huge lead. 6, impressive but also unnecessary, but shows pure dedication. Next is 7, goals right there. And lastly 8, that’s not many games imo.

I think I chose Bojo a few times but you ended up winning it those years anyway. You owe me TPE Rant

Getting to 1K TPE is pretty hard. Getting to 2K TPE is even harder. Getting to 2K+ TPE and maintaining it for so long seems like an impossible challenge, well at least in my eyes. The whole 1,738 shots blocked thing is pretty neato too, and is a really tough number to get to as well.

Okay so yes, I didn't rank Kelowna at the top even though they are my team, but really who would have though Ireland had it in them? Kelowna is a very close second, and after that it was kind of just random cause I don't know a whole lot of these records and moments to be honest.

All of these achievements are nothing to scoff at, however, ToeDragons 2285 TPE is by far the most impressive. That not only takes determination but straight up long-term commitment and Garbonzo's 1738 blocks is just ridiculous considering most good defensemen average around 90 a season. Those are the most untouchable records at this point for sure.

Explanation: Turd Ferguson isn't exactly a very positive award in my eyes, getting the most PIMs a season 7 times can't be too good for your teams performance when they have to be on the PK that much.

Explanation:

It's hard to argue against the pure longevity of Wasty and Calgary's playoff dominance. That doesn't just happen, and it's really impressive to me. I have KEL at two because the SMJHL is so fickle, so winning a Four Star Cup is a total crapshoot. Winning three in a row is just ridiculous. I put Prince's goalie record last because there isn't the longevity, while the record is impressive. I put ToeDragon lower than many, because I think it's due in part to some TPE inflation over time. I don't think it's unheard of that someone could surpass Toe's record in the future.

The Four Star isn't a crap shoot when you trade away draft picks for "active" (players that stalled out at ~350 but will log in to sign a min contract that doesn't count as inactive) players. I'm sorry but people are crediting KEL way too much. I was in that LR for all three cup wins. The first was fun, second had a few actives, and the third was had basically no actives. The KEL discord by the third one was a few alums that talked but maybe one active player.

I don't know what you're talking about. They traded for veteran capped dudes with a year left of eligibility (like me). Just because guys like me and Toner didn't talk a ton in there doesn't mean we weren't active. I don't think that's fair to say at all.

I mean clearly Toe's accomplishment is hte most impressive, because it actually involves no luck at all. The dude is a machine who works super hard for his player and is a complete beast.

Gotta be the consistency shown by the Dragons. To maintain that top level play for that long is absolute insanity. Really comparing all of these things together on a list it's so difficult to put them into an order of best to worst but I think Calgary deserves it. It's not a single player achievement, its the entire team and management working hard to get it. Ireland was a close second for me too. Very impressive regardless.

It's hard to go against Consitency, Hence 1 and 2. 20 fo 21 seasons of making the playoffs is insane and 31 seasons as GM of a franchise is unheard of. Garbanzo's dominance in Blocked shots is a feat that may never be matched. ToeDragons consistency in gaining TPE has him in 4th while Kelownas 3 straight 4 star cups falls to 5th ( mainly cuz one of those was against me.) Prince is at the bottom because while the record is impressive, 34 games is not something that i deem Consistant enough sample size.

Explanation:
Winning is difficult in this league. You can build a great team and be at the whim of the sim engine. It's especially hard to do it in the SMJHL because all the players are so close together and the turnover is great. For Kelowna to keep the train going and win 3 straight Four Star Cups, that is impressive. For Ireland, going from a team that didn't win anything to 3 straight gold medals against big nation teams, that is impressive.
