The SMJHL: An Overview

The Vancouver Whalers:  Whalers

The Vancouver Whalers, of the SMJHL are one of the longest standing teams in the junior league still standing. Founded by Kane.88 before the start of season 1, the team is no stranger to victory. The Whalers boast an impressive 720-492-100 record over the teams long life, they have also won 9 Four Star Cup Championships in that span, giving them a healthy spot at second most winning team in the league. With back to back championships in the 14/15, 18/19, and 35/36 seasons they have proven themselves time and time again as one of the most dominant teams in the juniors alongside their rivals the Kelowna Knights(11 championships) and their season 1 counter-parts the Montreal Impact(6 Championships).

The Vancouver Whalers current general manager is Glyc, and their Co-gm/assistant gm goes by LukeTD.

The Kelowna Knights: Knights

The Kelowna Knights are one of the most dominant teams in the current SMJHL. Having won 3 of the last 5 championships they have rooted themselves as top team in the league with a league best 11 championships. They have a regular season record of 658-532-122 since season 2 and a fairly average overall season standings despite their playoff dominance only 4 times (according to records). While their logo is a blatant rip off of the London Knights they have at-least done the logo proud more often than the latter.

The current GM for the Kelowna Knights is Zoone, and the co-gm is NJBadApple.

The Montreal Militia: Militia

The Montreal Militia is one of the founding teams of the SMJHL. Since their introduction into the league they’ve boasted a 631-553-126 record to give them the 1st overall spot in the league 9 times. They’ve hoisted the Four Star Cup 6 times since their creation giving them a narrow advantage over both Detroit and St. Louis for the 3rd spot in the championship standings. Be sure to keep an eye on the Impact as they will surely be looking to make a run at the finals having not won their last championship since season 33.

Montreal’s current GM pairing is BarnabasCollins and Jearim.

The Detroit Falcons: Falcons

The Detroit Falcons have been around since season 5, in that time they’ve won their conference 12 times, and the FSC 5 times. Due to their tenure as a fairly successful franchise they have also worked up rivalries with Montreal, and St. Louis. Though the Montreal rivalry has died down a recent loss in the FSC finals to the St. Louis Scarecrows has reignited the passions of old. Having claimed the 1st overall spot in the regular season for 2 seasons straight, young prospects should look to the Falcons as a top choice for the draft.

Detroit is being helmed by NotoriousTig and Stephen “grok” Elgrok.

The St. Louis Scarecrows: Scarecrows

St. Louis Scarecrows share many similarities with their league rival Detroit Falcons. Unfortunately for the Falcons, those similarities come with 8 seasons less experience. Both teams have won the championship 5 times and both teams were near or at the top of the regular season standings at the end of season 46, the only difference is that St. Louis is the reigning Four Star Cup Champions, much to the chagrin of the Falcons roster. The Scarecrows will look to repeat as champions in the 47th season of the SMJHL, but will face tough competition from the likes of Detroit, Anchorage, Kelowna, Montreal, and Vancouver.

Their front of staff include the likes of TML99 and Nictox.

The Anchorage Armada: Armada

The Anchorage Armada may have the best name and third jersey in the SMJHL. Unfortunately that's about all they have to boast, While they may claim that they’ve won 4 championships, those were in their Prince George days, and unfortunately no one counts the Vancouver Millionaires as anything impressive for that city, so we won’t for Anchorage. On the other hand that does give them a bit of a fresh start as a “newer” team and reinforces their impressiveness placing so highly in the Season 46 standings.

The Admirals of the Anchorage Armada are Acsolap and Artermis.

The Halifax Raiders: raiders

The Halifax Raiders, much like the Armada, have an amazing logo and jersey. Unlike the Armada, they’ve actually won titles in their time in Halifax. 2 titles to be exact since their foundation in season 25. While those 2 titles put them above several teams in the SMJHL, they have had an awful 10 seasons, not qualifying for the playoffs in 7 of their last ten seasons. While last season was rough for them, with a 16-27-7 record, they weren’t the worst in the league (barley). Look for them to try and bolster around any returning players to fix what they need to fix in the upcoming season.

Leaders of the horde are Jearim and and Slothfacekilla.

The Colorado Raptors: Raptors

What can be said about the Colorado Raptors? Their GM staff includes 39alaska39 and Good_Ole_Kimmy. They won a single title as the Colorado Mammoths, and they haven’t done the worst in the regular season, they also haven’t done the best. They are to the SMJHL as bologna is to sandwich meat, it’s not roast beef, but it’s also not a “meat alternative” like tofu turkey. That is to say there isn’t much to report on, in the regular season that is. Perennial playoff contenders they have a history of making it to game seven of the Western Conference semi final. But they’ve also done enough to warrant an entire paragraph to themselves, so look at you go.

The Other Guys (Lethbridge Lions and Anaheim Outlaws): Lions Outlaws

The last two teams to cover, unfortunately, won’t get their own paragraphs. Anaheim and Lethbridge, both members of the expansion draft last season, will be making their second season debut in the 47th. Both having finished bottom three of the 46 season, they also had to start anew with players with little to no experience, I expect they will be doing their best to at-least be a part of the cluster-fuck of regular season standings if this upcoming season finishes like the last. Their respective owner/operators are Dangles13 and Hockeyfan for the Anaheim Outlaws, and DanbyRem and Justice for the Lethbridge Lions.
