Teammates
#1

Many think future superstars Aleister Cain and Nicholas Williams met in St. Louis, but this is not the case. Cain's family used to go to Michigan for summer hockey tournaments for opportunities that they couldn't quite get in Chicago. Michigan just so happens to be William's home state, and it's no surprise that Cain and Williams found themselves on the team that always won. After a couple years Aleister's younger brother Martin got in on the action too. Here is a photo with Martin next to Aleister, who was cropped out to fit everyone else in the photo, as is tradition. Williams, usually selected as captain for these tournament teams, can be seen in the back row.

They were acquaintances and recognized each other's potential, but never got to knew each other until that fateful draft where they found themselves as teammates once again. It has been a long road since then. Missing the playoffs in their rookie season, being drafted to rival teams in the Western Conference, being bounced in the finals by Vancouver were all very tough moments for the two, but they helped each other through it.

Things were not always tough in their careers either. Williams won gold in his rookie WJC tournament with Cain cheering him on from the stands, Cain joining him for a silver medal run next season. They then won the Four Star Cup together, Williams won the Challenge Cup, scoring his first SHL goal in the cup finals, and winning another silver medal under a new WJC GM. Cain and Williams do absolutely nothing but win together.

The future looks bright for the pair. As USA heads into the medal game against Ireland with Williams and Cain joining the squad together, they are guaranteed another IIHF medal to add to their impressive collection. They are of course aiming for gold. Cain is in his final year in WJC as well, hoping to do his country proud before young goaltender Lablanc takes over. He will then join Williams on the big club, as the starting goaltender. While being teammates in international tournaments is fun, Cain misses being on the ice with Williams almost every day. They are best friends and train together during the offseason, sometimes in St. Louis, sometimes in Chicago at Cain's private rink he shares with his brother and sister. Martin Cain resides in Chicago still and trains there often. Williams will have an amazing career full of more championships and right now he is at an interesting point in his career, being one of if not THE hottest free agent on the market right now. Any team would be stupid not to make an offer on him.

Cain wishes Williams the best of luck in his free agency and knows wherever he ends up he is bound to win. He hopes some day in his career, perhaps soon, they can be teammates once again.
