Harvey Danger - A Contract Year

Dallas (TX) - Season 47 is in full swing and the Texas Renegades are underachieving once again. Their strongest position should be defense, but they are giving up a lot of goals and the offense are not exactly carrying the load either, as the two highest scorers on the team are defensemen. With Daniel Karlsson likely moving to forward in the next sim, the defensive corps will definitely be looking different heading into day 4 of the season, but it could look even different before the end of the season.

The Dude - A former top defenseman in this league, he is still a franchise guy but he is starting to slow down. A Renegade for life, he will be here no matter what happens.

Liam O'Callaghan - Another former top defenseman, Liam signed a huge contract recently to stay in Texas. He'll be a Renegade for likely his entire career.

Chuck Crutchfield - A rookie defenseman who is also the Co-GM. He'll be a part of the top 4 for a long time coming.

And that brings us to Harvey Danger. Entering his 5th SHL season after being picked 3rd overall in S42, Danger has improved every season so far and is on pace to more than double his season point total from S46. He's also a pending free agent, in the last season of a 3 year, $12 million dollar contract, which gives him a lot of power especially if he ends up with a career year.

There are a few options for Danger.

1. He could sign a long term deal to stay in Texas before the season ends.

2. He could request a trade at the deadline if Texas is out of the playoff contention. In four seasons, Danger has played in the playoffs once, and would love the best chance to win the cup, and Texas could get a solid piece for the rental trade.

3. He could also play out the season and try his hand at free agency.

Perhaps Danger is sick of being the 4th defenseman and treated like one, especially when he has been a top defensive defenseman on the team, and a guy who is not afraid to drop the gloves and stand up for his teammates. Even with Karlsson going to forward, Danger finds himself as the 4th guy, replaced by Co-GM Crutchfield. It's not crazy to think he would want to leave to another franchise if it feels they give him a better chance to win a Championship, or even if the team can offer him a top pairing position to carry the defense for years to come.

Or maybe Harvey Danger is just really full of himself because he made it over 1000 TPE, and he'll shut up now and see what happens.

I feel this so much. Currently 6th in the league for TPE, still haven't played a single minute on the top pair. That said I'm staying in Edmonton for my whole career so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
