#1
(This post was last modified: 06-01-2019, 08:17 PM by Darkened_Rose_16.)

Evening folks. This is Ravyn Tedisko of the Montreal Militia. Looks like tonight's game was a bit of a doosey for the Colorado Raptors. They played a hard fought game but the Militia shut them out. Enough of that, let's get to the recap!

First Period:
The first, and game winning goal, of the night came at 8:10 with Zalapski and Svensson setting yours truly up for a perfect Murder shot! It also looks like two of the guys got into it and had a fight at 13:58. Two of the three penalties were on Colorado Raptors player Akashi SixNine. One for instigating the fight and the other for the fight itself. The other player involved in the fight was Herry Morris IV of the Montreal Militia. He received the other penalty. There was a total of ten shots taken in the first, six from Montreal and four from Colorado. The Militias goalie demonstrated exceptional skill blocking and stopping all the shots that came his way. Colorado's goalie also displayed promising skill only allowing one of the six shots made by Montreal slip past.

Second Period:
The Montreal Militia player, Jaguar Johnson, was on absolute fire in this period. Scoring the last two goals of the game, it is not surprising that he was named our first star of the night. His first goal was at 8:29 with assists from Marc Hagan and Oliver Klozoff. His second and final goal of the game came at 14:56. This time with the assist by James Truong, and again Oliver Klozoff. The only penalty in this period came from the Colorado Raptors player Eric Vanderberg for tripping Oliver Klozoff just 0:19 seconds into the period. Maybe that was what drove his assists because he was on fire.

Third Period:
The third started off with a three to zero lead by the militia, which would end up being the final game score. There were four penalties. Three on the Militia and just one on the Raptors. Both goalies shut out the puck this period. The Raptors goalie only having two shots to block seemed extremely bereft by the end. The Raptors tried to pick up their game shooting 12 times. They definitely gave the Militia's goalie a run for his money.

The 3 Stars of tonight's game are:
1 - Jaguar Johnson (MTL)
2 - Aleksi O'Koivu-Volkova (MTL)
3 - Oliver Klozoff (MTL)

TURNING POINT: (Comment#1)
Tempers flared between these two teams as Akashi SixNine dropped the mitts with Henry Morris IV - The two fought to a draw, but the momentum was completely on the Montreal Militia's side afterwards. Militia's Morris was blindsided by SixNine - when Morris held his own, the Militia used this momentum to carry them the rest of the way. The Montreal Militia were already up by one goal, and with the skill differential between these two teams, any swing in momentum could be detrimental to the Colorado Raptors.

GOALTENDING MATCHUP: (Comment#2) The Colorado Raptors absolutely blew it tonight - on offense, on defence, and in between the pipes. Alexander Thorstrom registered his sixth lost of the season, posting an abysmal .824, saving 14 of 17 shots. On the other end, The offense, defense and goaltending were all picture perfect - the offense registered three goals, and the defense helped O'Koivu-Kolova record yet another win and shutout this season - interestingly enough, the Colorado Raptors outshot the Militia tonight -  In the third period alone, the Raptors has 12 shots to Montreal's TWO! The Raptors have youth, speed and grit but they do not have three things that the Miilitia have - skill, experience and elite goaltending.

THE DETAILS: (Comment#3)

Sure, the Colorado Raptors outshot the Montreal Militia in tonight's losing effort, however, if one took a closer look at the numbers, we could see why exactly this happened tonight. For instance, The Montreal Militia lead the Colorado Raptors in HITS, FACEOFF WINS, and BLOCKED SHOTS. If you actually take a look at the advanced stats, it appears as if the Militia should have soared away with the game tonight. The only significant stat (besides shots) that the Raptors lead in is Penalty Minutes - 21 in a night, compared to 11 of Montreal's. This Raptors team has a LOT to work on - they need to become disciplined and skilled, if this young core can gel together, I believe that they may have a chance to beat some of the St.Louises, Montreals, and Anaheims of the world. The question begs, when will this young Raptors squad be ready?
