Xena Displays Offensive Acumen

Xena showed off his extreme offensive talent this game by registering a point on all 4 of Anchroage's goals. With 1 goal and 3 assists you could feel that Xena was feeling it tonight. He was driving the play, getting the puck to the players that could score, and dabbling in a little of the scoring himself. It's a very good sign that one of the Armada's best players is getting going this early in the season. Xena is a generally streaky player so the coaching staff hopes that this is the start of a consistent scoring schedule for him.

Armada Power Play Disappoints

The star-studded Anchorage Armada power play seemed toothless this game. Although the Armada did not need help from their power play, it seemed like there was a total disconnect between all the players on the ice. Passes to nobody at the point, very little puck movement, and no net front presence. What's the cure for such an anemic powerplay? Is there a coaching change to be needed to help breathe life into a lifeless powerplay, or will a line up swap be enough? The Armada coaching staff and management team has some tough questions ahead of them.

Halifax Second Line Struggles

The Halifax second line consisting of Esa Parmborg, Josef Kubinec, and Jimmy Slothface proved to be a huge liability against this match against Anchorage. The line combined for a +/- of -10 and only registered 1 point (an assist). For such an offensively oriented line it's a concern that this line struggled against an Anchorage team that has had recent struggles putting the puck into the net. It seems like the line is in limbo between not being able to score and not being able to defend. Going forward this line is going to have to be much better if the Halifax Raiders are going to have a successful season.
